England Must Improve
November 24th, 2008 by Peter Bevan
Last Saturday, England were beaten by the largest ever margin at Twickenham. Martin Johnson’s men stood no chance as the South Africans showed why they are the World Champions. It was their exemplary defensive play and moments of clinical finishing that won them the match. Whilst England had periods of possession in the opposition’s half, they failed to convert any of their chances.
The bookies are anticipating another thrashing as England take on New Zealand this weekend. Whether or not they can put the defeat behind them and triumph against The All Blacks will remain to be seen. Hundreds of tickets are still available for what is expected to be very much a one-sided affair.
Elsewhere in last weekend’s Autumn Internationals, Wales were beaten by New Zealand, Ireland defeated Argentina and Scotland trounced Canada by 41 points to nil.
