High School Musical 2 takes to the british stage

The musical production team behind High School Musical Live on Stage! are planning a new stage version of the TV movie sequel, ‘High School Musical 2.’ The much anticipated show will launch in the UK at London’s Wimbledon Theatre in August 2009.

The production is currently already selling tickets up until January 2nd, 2010, with further dates due to be announced for 2010.

The stage production is expected to be directed by Jeff Calhoun, who has been involved in the Broadway production of Grease and Big River and the US and UK stage versions of High School Musical Live On Stage!

First broadcast in September 2007, the Disney Channel’s ‘High School Musical 2′ has been viewed by over 273 million people worldwide. .

The tour will commence at Wimbledon New Theatre, beginning performances Aug 22 for a run to Sept 5, then continue to Plymouth’s Theatre Royal (Sept 7 & 12), Sheffield’s Lyceum (Sept 14 & 19), Oxford’s New theatre (Sept 21 & 26), Manchester’s Opera House (Sept 28 & Oct 10), Brighton Centre (Oct 15 & 18), Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre (Oct 20 & 24), Southampton’s Mayflower (Oct 26 & Nov 7), Leeds’ Grand Theatre (Nov 9 & 14), Belfast’s Opera House (Nov 16 & 21) and Birmingham’s Alexandra (Dec 15 & Jan 2).

High School Musical 2 will undoubtedly be yet another theatregoer favourite along with other West End theatre tickets such as Blood Brothers, Oliver, The Sound of Music, Mamma Mia, Jersey Boys, Blue Man Group, We Will Rock You, Enjoy and of course the ever popular West End musical Billy Elliot.

Many West End Theatre Tickets remain available for 2009.
