Wimbledon: Centre Court Unvieled

The new retractable roof at the All England Club, Wimbledon has been unveiled to the media for the first time

The new retractable roof on Centre Court at the All England Club, Wimbledon has been unveiled to the press and media for the first time.

The All England Club, Wimbledon confirmed that the new retractable roof is scheduled to be ready in time for the Centre Court Celebration which has been organised for Sunday 17 May.

The Centre Court Celebration will feature legendary tennis players Andre Agassi, Stefanie Graf, Kim Clijsters and Tim Henman playing a combination of men’s singles, women’s singles and mixed-doubles tennis matches with the new roof in place.

The new retractable roof is undergoing final testing together with the air-management system to control humidity and prevent condensation which would make the grass courts too slippery to play on. The Centre Court Celebration is an important event to test the use of the roof under live conditions with a real crowd.

BBC2 will provide live coverage of the Centre Court Celebration from 3.30pm to 5pm presented by Sue Barker and with Andrew Castle and John Lloyd providing the commentary for the tennis matches. Katherine Jenkins, Blake and Faryl Smith are also expected to perform.

Katherine Jenkins tickets for concerts in June and August are available to compare from £15.

Wimbledon tickets and tickets to other tennis events are also available at tixdaq.com
