Rafael Nadal might be fit for an exhibition match at the London Hurlingham Club in preparation for Wimbledon
Rafael Nadal has been invited to play at a tennis exhibition tournament at the London Hurlingham Club as a warm-up to the 2009 Wimbledon Championships.
World number one Rafael Nadal describes the event at the London Hurlingham Club as an opportunity to test out his troubled knees, as well as getting some grass-court practise before the 2009 Wimbledon Championships.
However, Rafael Nadal has been out of action since his fourth round French Open exit at Rolland Garros.
Rafael Nadal was recently scheduled to defend his Queen’s Club title at the AEGON Championships in London but was forced to pull out with injury.
The winner of the AEGON Championships was number three seed Andy Murray, who never lost a set throughout the tournament and should be in confident mood with the 2009 Wimbledon Championships less than a week away.
Rafael Nadal hopes to overcome his injury worries and play at the London Hurlingham Club this Friday against the world number 18 Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland.
With Andy Murray and recent French Open winner Roger Federer hot on his heels, Rafael Nadal hopes to prove he is ready to defend his Wimbledon crown.
The 2009 Wimbledon tennis championships gets underway from Monday June 22.
Also in London will be the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, which is being held in November 2009 at the London O2 Arena.
At the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals, the top eight players will compete to become champion in this end-of-season tournament.
