Jay-Z to perform tribute gig for September 11

It has been announced that Jay-Z will perform a special show to mark the eighth anniversary of the terrorist tragedy that hit New York city on the world famous Twin Towers on September 11.

The special gig is to be broadcast live on Fuse TV with tickets to attend costing in the region of $599. However, the date in which tickets will go on sale are yet to be revealed.

September 11 is also the date when Jay-Z releases his new album The Blueprint 3, which is released on September 14 in the UK.

Proceeds from the tribute show, which will take place at Madison Square Gardens, will go to the New York Police and the Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.

Jay-Z has spoken of the upcoming gig as encompassing the true spirit of New York City. Jay-Z has also spoken of his honour towards the victims’ families and praised the city’s resilience as people continue to look after their own.

The day after the New York tribute concert, Jay-Z is set to take the stage once again, but this time to support Coldplay in the UK.

Coldplay and Jay-Z will play three major shows in September, starting with a gig in the Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Ground on September 12.

Then, Coldplay and Jay-Z will also be joined by White Lies at Glasgow Hampden Park on September 16. Coldplay are then supported by Girls Aloud at London Wembley Stadium on September 18 before being joined by Jay-Z one last time at London Wembley Stadium on September 19
