Recent reports have emerged that Paul McCartney might be dropping by the X Factor studios on 13th December to give the show a rather peculiar climax. Given the Beatles are symbolic of the emergence of the singer/songwriter format, it would be strange for the ex-Beatle to lend his support to a format that has ridiculed this ideal.
Nevertheless, Sir Paul is about to embark on a lightening tour of Europe, taking in Berlin, Paris, London and Dublin, so a quick performance in front of 12 million avid X Factor viewers might help sell those final few ticket sales.
