Del Potro triumphs against Verdasco in tie-break thriller

Juan Martin Del Potro has just beaten Fernando Verdasco the world number seven seed in the first match of the third day of the 2009 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals. This years’ ATP Finals are being staged at the London O2 Arena. The Argentinian fifth seed won the match 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 in what was a truly thrilling encounter between two of the greatest players currently on the ATP tour.

This evening’s match is the eagerly awaited clash between the British number one, Andy Murray, and the world number one, Roger Federer. Andy Murray will go head-to-head with Roger Federer in the second of today’s singles matches at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals after the second doubles match has taken place. This will be the tenth time the two players have met on the ATP circuit and Andy Murray will no doubt be in a confident mood following his victory against Del Potro on Sunday. Andy Murray has won two of the last three matches against Roger Federer. However, Roger Federer won the most recent encounter at the Cincinnati Masters back in August.
