Federer outclasses Murray

Last night, Andrew Murray took on Roger Federer in the the most eagerly awaited match of the 2009 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals so far. Although Andy Murray took the first set, it was clear that Roger Federer had no intention of losing the match and proved why he is the world’s top seed, emerging victorious in the third set. Roger Federer beat Andy Murray 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in what was won of the best matches at the ATP Finals.
Andrew Murray was all to aware of what had let him down against Roger Federer. Murray’s serving was well below his usual high standards last night and Roger Federer made sure he capitalised on Andy Murray’s poor form. Murray told SkySports: “I served so poorly that anyone would have looked good against me because you get a chance pretty much every single point.”
Andrew Murray and Roger Federer have now met four times this season, and they have each claimed two wins. Andrew Murray claimed victories in Indian Wells and Doha, while Roger Federer has won the two most recent matches at the Cincinnati Masters as well as last night’s victory.
The 2009 Barclays ATP World Tour Finals continues this afternoon. The first match of the day sees Novak Djokovic take on Robin Soderling which is followed by Rafael Nadal v Nikolay Davydenko.
