All eyes on Camp Nou as Barcelona and Real Madrid prepare for El Clasico
November 27th, 2009 by Phil Lythell
This weekend sees the world’s biggest football match in domestic football take place when Barcelona take on Real Madrid at Camp Nou.
The two La Liga giants will contest the match known as El Clasico with the match taking on extra resonance as the teams occupy the top two places in the Spanish league.
Real Madrid lead their Catalan rivals by a point and a victory for Los Merengues would give them some breathing space at the top of the league
Barcelona will be hoping for a repeat of last season when goals from Samuel Eto’o and Lionel Messi gave them a 2-0 home win though that was eclipsed later in the season when they dismantled their opponents 6-2 in the Bernabeu.
The home side may be missing the mesmerising talents of Lionel Messi who is still doubtful with an injury while summer signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic may also miss out.
Real Madrid welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo after he made his return to action as a substitute in their UEFA Champions League match against FC Zurich on Wednesday following an absence of 55 days and he will no doubt be keen to make his mark in on the biggest stage of all.
