Huge local demand for FIFA World Cup tickets

FIFA World Cup fever has gripped South Africa since the draw for the groupos stages was made on December 4th.
The third ticketing phase was launched the following day with over 400,000 applications having been already recieved via FIFA.com But despite the global popularity of the tournament, it is the local population that have shown the most desire to attend the tournament.
Since the latest phase began 75% of the applications have come from within the host nation. With such a groundswell of popualrity, the 2010 FIFA World Cup promises to be a noisy, colourful and entertaining event with all the flavours of football and Africa perfectly entwined.
