Vampire Weekend are locked in a battle with Florence & the Machine for this week’s number one album. First day sales figures show Vampire Weekend’s ‘Contra’ has opened up a slight lead over the number two album, ‘Lungs’, in what looks to be hard-fought contest.

‘Contra,’ Vampire Weekend’s second album, was released yesterday and they will be celebrating its release with an upcoming UK tour.

The Vampire Weekend tour begins at the De La Warr Pavilion on February 5 in Bexhill on Sea, before visits to Cambridge Corn Exchange, Manchester Apollo, the O2 Academy Birmingham and many more top venues across the UK. Vampire Weekend draw their tour to a close with two shows at the O2 Brixton Academy.
