Murray faces Nadal in quarters of Australian Open
January 25th, 2010 by Liam Tailor
Andy Murray will face Rafael Nadal tomorrow morning (British time) for a place in the semi-finals of the Australian Open. It has been a superb tournament and a great start to the year for the Scot: yet to drop a set in the four matches so far, he has turned around the negative play that hit his 2009 grand slam hopes and employed a much more attacking – and yet risk-free – all-round game. It won’t be an easy ride through to the semis, though, with Nadal the defending Australian Open champion and a tough competitor to boot.
Just one month into 2010, Murray is undoubtedly having a record-breaking year. He is the first Briton to reach the last eight of the Australian Open since John Lloyd in 1977 and if he can continue this form, fans back home will be intrigued to see how he gets on later in the year – namely, Wimbledon 2010.
British tennis fans have watched the SW19 event down the years with hopes – however faint – of a Brit emerging victorious. Tim Henman could and should have won it but always failed at the final hurdle. Since Murray’s arrival on the scene, a fresh hope has arisen, one that has become more realistic with every passing year. With his fierce determination, a powerful serve and an almost unbeatable defence, Murray now has the tools to go on to claim what most consider as the biggest prize in tennis. Wimbledon 2010 could be his time.
The 2010 Wimbledon tennis championships are just months away and fans will be pleased to hear that Wimbledon tickets are already available to buy from tixdaq.com. The tournament starts on the 21st of June and tickets start from £357.
