Les Miserables celebrates 25th anniversary

January 28th, 2010 by Liam Tailor

The hugely popular musical Les Miserables, based on the French novel by Victor Hugo, is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a fresh take on the original production.

Set in 19th Century France, it follows the story of ex-conv Jean Valjean who escapes parole and goes on the run from the cold and calculating Inspector Javert. Directors Laurence Connor and James Powell have managed to create a subtle re-imagining of the tragic tale, including a dark atmospheric set which helps create a more intimate, realistic landscape than ever seen before.

Les Miserables will be showing throughout 2010 with performances in the Palace Theatre in Manchester as well as Queen’s Theatre in London.
