Alicia Keys’ fourth album ‘The Element of Freedom’ hit number-one in the UK charts last night. The American soul singer released the record in December but this is the first time it has reached the top of the charts. The album fought off competition from what is arguably the biggest surprise of the year so far with Dutch violinist Andre Rieu’s release ‘Forever Vienna.’

Alicia Keys will be in the UK in May to embark on her first tour of the UK since 2007. The tour kicks off at the Birmingham NIA on 19th May, followed by performances at Glasgow’s SECC on 23rd May and London’s O2 Arena on 25th May, before drawing to a close at Manchester’s MEN Arena on 29th May.
