Scotland look to bounce back

February 22nd, 2010 by Adam Davies

Italy and Scotland are both looking for their first win in this year’s Six Nations Championship. Scotland’s last match against Wales was a quite extraordinary occasion, and were it not for ill-discipline in the closing stages, they looked set for victory. As it happened, Wales somehow managed to snatch victory against the 13 men in the last play of the match and Scottish hearts were broken. Traditionally in recent years Italy against Scotland has been the wooden spoon clash of the championship, but if Scotland can overcome the mental anguish of their last outing and the injuries to Thom Evans and Chris Paterson, they have the game to defeat the Italians.

Italy, despite results going as expected, are an improving side and after making both Ireland and England work hard for their wins, the vociferous Rome crowd will want a victory against the Scottish. They welcome back lock Carlo Antonio Del Fava after he returned to fitness a month earlier than expected.
