When Mel C, AKA Sporty Spice, was cast as Blood Brothers lead Mrs Johnstone, people could be forgiven for a touch of scepticism. However, audiences and critics alike have been wholesome in their praise for the Spice Girl, and crowds have flocked to the West End Musical. It has enjoyed a brilliant success since its 1988 revival, and has enjoyed a constant place in the West End for the last 22 years!

Melanie Chisholme, to give the pop star her full name, has enjoyed her casting so much that she hopes to feature in a film version of the play should it be made. She has undoubtedly made a decent claim to the role with a succession of brilliant performances, and fans can see the Sporty Spice at the Phoenix Theatre in London from the bargain price of just £11!
