England learn much from World Cup preparation against Mexico

May 26th, 2010 by Adam Davies

England were outclassed for much of their match against Mexico on Monday evening at Wembley stadium, but two things were achieved which will please England manager Fabio Capello.

Firstly, England won, despite Mexico’s dominance particularly in the first half. The other positive aspect was that there were no injuries suffered – which is always a worry ahead of a major tournament. Wayne Rooney may have suffered a strain in his neck, but it is of no grave concern and he will be fit to face Japan at the weekend, as well as England v USA at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg.

With just a few weeks until the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, optimism is building across England. Can they fight off 44 years of hurt?

There is still time to grab tickets and be a part of the biggest sporting event in the world.
