Andy Murray ought to reach the Wimbledon final this year – at least according to rather crude logic.

Britain’s number one has progressed a round further than his previous attempt each year he has played at SW19, and so far this year has looked strongest in Grand Slam competitions.

Murray has just been knocked out of the French Open after a loss to Czech tennis ace Tomáš Berdych in the fourth round, but the Scot will always have a better chance on grass than on clay.
