McLaren upgrade in British Grand Prix at Silverstone for Hamilton & Button

July 7th, 2010 by Adam Davies

McLaren have been working on a blown rear diffuser upgrade for their F1 car – much like the part that the Red Bull RB6 has been so successful with. However, it will be down to their drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button to decide if they are ready to use it in the British Grand Prix on Sunday.

Practice will begin on Friday at Silverstone, with both McLarens expected to test the blown rear diffuser, and it could have a significant positive impact on performance and lap time.

Still, the race looks ideal for the high speed cornering of the Red Bulls of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel, while the results of Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa in Valencia should not be taken to heart – before the infamous safety car incident, Alonso in particular looked very competitive indeed.

British Grand Prix tickets are on sale now, with weekend tickets from SeeTickets priced at £130 – giving access to practice, qualification and the race itself.
