Italy coach hails historic win

March 14th, 2011 by James Barnes

Italy coach Nick Mallett was delighted by his team’s performance after an incredible 22-21 victory over France.

The win marked Italy’s first six nations win over Les Bleus and only their eighth since joining the Championship 11 years ago.

Italy, inspired by Mirco Bergamasco, fought back from an 18-6 deficit to take all the points, and South African Mallet believes his team desereved the win

“We looked like a really good rugby team, everyone contributed to this win. I am really proud of my players and what they have done for Italian rugby supporters, who week in, week out support this team and have been fantastic.”

Six Nations tickets for the remaining games are available now.
