Andy Carroll to miss Newcastle reunion

April 30th, 2011 by Ben Vine

Liverpool striker Andy Carrol is set to sit out the match against old club Newcastle because of a knee injury.

The England striker left Newcastle for Liverpool in a big money deal in January, but has suffered a string of injuries since the move.

“We don’t know if he’ll be fit,” Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish told ADifferentLeague.co.uk. “I don’t think nature knows it’s his old club Newcastle, so if he’s not fit, he’s not fit. For Andy, it’s a poignant game but if he’s not fit, he’s not fit. We can’t do anything about that.”

Liverpool tickets are available now.
