Speaking to the Daily Star, the the band’s frontman Tom Meighan, “Serge and Aitor Throup, who did our album artwork, and a guy called Nick who’s a genius at lighting, came up with it. It’s going to look great. The idea that the stage will react to fans will be cool. It’s never been done.”

“I don’t know enough about it yet,” Meighan continued. “It’s been a secret from me. I’m going Thursday to look at the lighting and go ‘Wow’. It’s pretty exciting. We want to get in the stride of playing live again.”

A show insider said: “Frankie is devastated but he has broken a golden rule so producers had no option but to axe him.

“He had an extra boost from being kept in at the weekend when he thought he was going to go.

A Live Nation spokesman stated that the singer, ‘is exhausted and doesn’t feel well.’ Organisers have confirmed that they are trying to arrange new dates for the shows that have been cancelled.

Rihanna is expected to recover in time for her UK shows later this month. The singer will perform in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, Glasgow and Newcastle throughout November and December, as well as headlining the Saturday night at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball.

Doctor Dee, an opera created by Gorillaz and Blur star Albarn, documents the life of John Dee, the 16th century astronomer and consultant to Queen Elizabeth I. The production is directed by Rufus Norris.

Chase and Status will headline the Manchester gig, and will be supported by the likes of Nero, Ed Sheeran, The Big Pink and Fenech-Soler.

The Kaiser Chiefs will top the bill at the London show, treating fans to a ‘Greatest Hits’ set, and will be supported by The Maccabees and The Horrors, with another special guest yet to be announced.

Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball tickets will go on sale on Monday 31st October.

A statement on the singer’s website reads, “It is with deep regret that Adele has been forced to cancel her remaining live dates and promotional appearances in 2011. She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected. As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.”

Ticket holders for all cancelled live dates will receive a refund from the point of purchase. The affected shows are as follows:

Also appearing on the show will be former Pussycat Dolls star, Nicole Scherzinger. Scherzinger recently confirmed details of her first ever solo UK tour, and will perform shows in February next year.

The singer released her debut album earlier this year, titled Killer Love, following the success of singles such as Poison, Don’t Hold Your Breath and Right There.

The show is rumoured to be one of a series of UK outdoor shows next summer, with more Red Hot Chili Peppers concerts expected to be announced in the coming days.

The band are set to perform arena shows next month, with concerts taking place in Dublin, Belfast, London, Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield and Birmingham in support of the release of their new record.

As well as showcasing new material, the group will also play a selection of their greatest hits.

Red Hot Chili Peppers tickets for the Croke Park show will go on sale next Friday, 4th November, with tickets to the band’s UK arena shows on sale now.

Speaking to NME magazine, the singer said, “Without a doubt (I’d support them). I’d sell hot dogs. Without a f**king doubt, I’d f**king love to. It’s their gig, they can do what the f**k they want – but with these gigs they should put on a load of bands, man.

“Because there’s nothing better than someone playing really good before you come on because it gives you a f**king kick, you know what I mean. The band are due to top the charts with their fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto this weekend, and kicked off their European tour with an outdoor show in the Spanish captial’s premier bull ring.

Mark Davyd, the chief executive of music charity Rhythmix, criticised the show after revealing his organisation was launching a legal battle to protect their brand.

The former Wham star will now reschedule the show, with all original tickets to remain valid.

Band member Niall Horan wrote recently posted a message on Twitter stating, “Had a look at the creative for our tour yesterday with our amazing producer!! sooooo exciting! gona be a sick show. We’re gona involve you guys in the show as much as we can.”

The band, who reformed last week after a 15-year hiatus, are rumoured to begin the jaunt at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on July 5th before going on to perform in London, Glasgow, and Belfast.

They are also rumoured to be playing the iTunes Festival, and a huge outdoor show at Slane Castle in Ireland. The dates are yet to be officially confirmed.

The last Tom Waits tour took place in 2008, in support of the release of his previous album, Glitter and Doom. The singer’s new release is his first composed of entirely new music since 2004, adding fuel to the rumours that a live shows, including UK and Ireland tour dates, may be on the horizon.
