The Kooks reveal October UK tour

Brighton-formed The Kooks have announced a nine date tour for the UK this October.

The tour will showcase their third album Junk Of The Heart, released on September 30. The album is their first since 2008′s Konk, and features acclaimed Belle and Sebastian producer Tony Hoffer supervising recording. The tour will commence with a show at Glasgow Barrowlands and conclude at London’s O2 Academy Brixton. This tour will follow from their sets at a number of European festivals in the summer, although none in the UK.

The Kooks UK tour tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday June 17.

Belle and Sebastian to play three UK gigs

Belle and Sebastian who released their superb eighth studio album last October ‘Write about love’ will be playing three gigs in the UK starting on May the 29th in London’s roundhouse. The tour will then go on to Leicester’s DeMontford hall on the 2nd of June and finish the O2 academy in Leeds on the 3rd.Tickets go on sale at 9 AM this Friday (the 4th of February).

Belle and Sebastian tickets are now available to compare and buy online. The band recently confirmed their largest tour in over four years, after pleasing a huge crowd at Latitude Festival last weekend as Saturday night headliners.

The Scottish band are currently recording new material for their next album, which will be their seventh studio release. Full details of the Belle and Sebastian tour to take place this December are as follows:

Belle and Sebastian tickets on sale this Friday

Belle and Sebastian tickets are to go on sale this Friday, July 23rd, for their December 2010 UK tour. The band recently headlined at Latitude festival, and have now confirmed their largest UK tour in more than four years.

The jaunt will begin at The Sage in Gateshead on Sunday 5th December and will end with a homecoming show at Glasgow Barrowlands on Tuesday 21st December.

Tom Jones added to Latitude Festival line-up

Tom Jones has been announced as a surprise name for this year’s Latitude Festival. The veteran singer will perform on Thursday July 15th at midnight In The Woods and is expected to play tracks from his forthcoming new album, Praise and Blame.

The festival runs from the 15th to 18th July and will be headlined by Florence and the Machine, Belle and Sebastian and Vampire Weekend. There will also be appearances across the weekend from the likes of Mumford & Sons, James, Rodrigo Y Gabriella, The Temper Trap, The Maccabees and Laura Marling.

Florence and the Machine debut new material ahead of Latitude headline appearance

Florence and the Machine were one of the hits of last weekend’s Glastonbury Festival, drawing one of the biggest crowds in the history of the festival’s ‘Other’ Stage.

Florence performed new singles Strangeness and Charm, and Heavy In Your Arms, a song recorded for the latest Twilight film. As well as these tracks, the crowd were treated to a breathtaking cover of Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain.

Florence and the Machine will be headlining Latitude Festival on Friday 16th July and music fans can expect much more of the same magic showcased at Glastonbury. Belle And Sebastian are one of the most critically acclaimed bands to have come out of Britain in the last twenty years, and the Scottish group are behind brilliant songs such as The Boy With The Arab Strap, It Could Have Been A Brilliant Career and Step Into My Office, Baby are much loved by their fans.

They have recently announced a tour of the United States to take place this autumn, which comes as they complete work on their eighth studio album. However, what will be more of note to UK fans is that the official band website reveals that there will be news of UK dates to come later this year.

Those fans that cannot wait until then will have a chance to see the Belle And Sebastian at Latitude Festival. The Glaswegians headline Saturday July 17th 2010 above Crystal Castles, The Maccabees, James, Frank Turner, Corinne Bailey Rae and the xx, with many more acts across the three days.

Vampire Weekend: Gorillas + Basement Jaxx = Rock n’ Roll

Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig was recently asked by the Daily Star what the most rock n’ roll thing he had ever done was. The journalist almost certainly expected something of the ilk of throwing a television set out the window, or getting suitably inebriated with Amy Winehouse et al.

Koenig had something rather different in mind.

He recalled a time when his band played alongside Basement Jaxx in Sweden, and as the dance music kings began to play Where’s Your Head At?, Vampire Weekend donned gorilla suits and jumped around like maniacs.

Pretty rock n’ roll indeed.

Vampire Weekend are one of the three headline acts to be performing at Latitude Festival in Suffolk this year, alongside Florence & The Machine and Belle & Sebastian. Vampire Weekend will close out the Sunday night of the festival, and Latitude Festival tickets are on sale now. Weekend tickets beginning at a price of £226 through official festival partner Viagogo.

Prior to their Latitude slot, Vampire Weekend will play at T In The Park in Scotland, and Oxegen Festival just outside Dublin.

The festival, which takes place at the Henham Park Estate from July 15-18 is set to be headlined by Florence and the Machine, Vampire Weekend and Belle and Sebastian. Latitude Festival has released details of many of the acts to play at the 2010 event, to take place in Henham Park, near Southwold in Suffolk from Thursday 15th July until Sunday 18th July 2010. The event will be headlined by Florence and the Machine, Belle and Sebastian and Vampire Weekend, with other bands such as Empire Of The Sun, The Maccabees, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Charlotte Gainsbourg, The National, The Horrors, The xx and Grizzly Bear to perform.

Many more will be announced in the coming weeks, but that lineup should be enough to prompt a mad rush for tickets, which are on sale now!

Festivals constantly sell all their tickets without announcing any of the acts on their bill. While some might criticise the lack of information, others might argue that people buy tickets because they are near-guaranteed a great time at a festival, and that the anticipation is heightened each time an additional act is added to the lineup.

Latitude Festival tickets go on sale this evening at 19:00 hours and it is sure to be a fantastic occasion, even if there are as yet no confirmed acts.
