The band also told of their plans for the folllow-up album to 2009′s ‘Only Revolutions’, saying that their new album will consist of two records called; ‘The Land At The End Of Our Toes’ and ‘The Sand At The Core Of Our Bones’. Speaking about the conecpt behind the release, Drummer Ben Johnston told NME; “We don’t want to pigeon hole it as a ‘big rock album’, so we’re trying to make a diverse collection of songs”.

Taking the prestigious slot on December 31st, the band are to play their 1991 album, Screamadelica, in full. The show offers fans a rare opportunity to see the band, whose only other UK appearance will be at Bestival this September. Previous artists who have performed at the event include Madness, Kasabian, Groove Armada, Blondie and Biffy Clyro.

Primal Scream tickets will go on sale this Thursday (September 1st).

The hit indie-folk band, who recently released their acclaimed third album Last Night On Earth, will perform on September 21st. They close the summer of live music that has hosted bands including The Vaccines, Biffy Clyro, Friendly Fires, Mark Ronson, Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal and 2manydjs.

Speaking to NME about the gig, frontman Charlie Fink said: “It’s something different for us and to be honest I don’t really know what to expect, but we’re very excited. I’ve never been to Ibiza before so I’m not quite sure what’s going to happen. We’re going to do our festival set which we’ve done at all the others. It’s got a lot of energetic numbers so hopefully people will get up and dance.”

The band will tour the UK this autumn.

Music magazine NME reports that festival founder Stuart Galbraith has considered both Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers for next year’s shows: “They’re both two that we’re talking to, amongst a whole list of others. I also think we could have Green Day and Blink-182 here, but none of those are confirmed.

This year’s Sonisphere saw headliners Metallica, Biffy Clyro and Slipknot. A limited number of early-bird tickets for next year’s festival go on sale this week.

The band’s set featured a two minute silence dedicated to Gray which was honoured by the crowd of thousands, a gesture much appreciated by lead singer Corey Taylor.

Taylor commented during the performance, “I want to thank you all for what you did today. It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Thank for you from the bottom of our hearts.”

The band have dedicated their whole tour to the memory of Gray and this was their first performance in the UK without him.

Acts who also played at this year’s Sonisphere were Metallica, Biffy Clyro and You Me At Six.

The British comedian is playing at Sonisphere, however his set clashes with Metallica, but if he does more covers like this one on Youtube there may not be many people actually watching Metallica’s headline slot tonight (Friday 8th July).

Also playing across the weekend are Biffy Clyro,Weezer and Slipknot.

Slipknot have announced today that they will stream their set at Sonisphere this Saturday live. The set will be at 9pm on Sunday 10th July and it promises to finish the festival with style and chaos.

The band havent played the UK for two years and it will be their first time playing here without Paul Gray who died of an overdose last year.

Slipknot have stated “England has always been a special place for this band from the very beginning. We can’t think of a better way to culminate our celebration of Paul’s life than to share it with the Maggots at Knebworth and the millions more watching around the world.  This is not to be missed.”

This year’s Pyramid Stage headline performances come from U2 (Friday 24th), Coldplay (Saturday 25th) and Beyonce (Sunday 26th). Other acts on the infamous main stage include Morissey, Elbow, Laura Marling, Paolo Nutini and Biffy Clyro.

The huge festival has been running on and off since 1970, and this year is sure to live up to expectations. With a line-up nothing short of world-class, revellers and viewers at home will see some spectacular performances on stages big and small.

The metal band announced the news on their website after Velvet Underground star Reed was seen entering their studio. The statement said, “We are more than proud to announce that we have just completed recording a full-length album with none other than the legendary Lou Reed.” They first hinted at this when earlier this year they were quoted as writing not for “a project that was 100% Metallica.” The heavy metal four-piece performed with Reed in an October 2009 gig at Madison Square Gardens, and have since been working with the singer “on and off over the last few months.”

No release date has been announced for the album.

Metallica are set to headline the Sonisphere from 7th-1oth July, with Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and Biffy Clyro also appearing.

The free event will feature a total of 62 bands over 31 nights at the Roundhouse in Camden. The festival started in 2007 and tickets are won through competitions or given free to customers using iTunes.

Manic Street Preachers will perform on July the 3rd. Paul Simon kicks off the month long festival, which will include performances from Beady Eye, Foo Fighters and Jessie J.

In previous years, the iTunes festival has featured performances from the likes of Oasis, Biffy Clyro and Scissor Sisters. Other names for the July bash are expected soon.

They said: “Watching the Foos, I think when you get to see a band night after night you really start to soak it in in a different sort of way and I guess kind of learn from them. You know, they’re such a huge band and they put on such a massive show, it will be nice to maybe steal a few of their tricks.

“They’ve got a real flow to their shows, the Foos, as well you know, they make it as much about the crowds as about them, and I think that’s a real talent and an art in itself to make 50,000 people as though every person in that crowd feels special, and I think that’s something that we’ll try and pick up on, that black magic.”

Galbraith told RockAAA: “We took a leap of faith booking Biffy Clyro but that has paid off as they have grown and become one of the UKs biggest rock bands. We started speaking to them six-months ago and they have really grown and are headlining on merit.

On having Metalica, Slayer, Megadeath and Anthrax on the same bill, Galbraith said: “The Big Four will be at Knebworth for first time this year and we are very honoured and proud to have them.”

The show will air on April 5teh, and will follow screenings of the new documentary “Foo Fighters: Back and Forth,” directed by Oscar-winner James Moll. Participating theatres have not yet been announced.

Foo Fighters tickets are now on sale for the band’s upcoming UK shows. The US rockers will perform two concerts at Milton Keynes National Bowl on the 2nd and 3rd July, with support from Biffy Clyro.

Frontman Simon Neil told BBC 6 Music that most of the tracks had been written at home over the new year and recording will start after their current tour ends.

The singer spoke about the style of the new material. Neil said: “We’re always going to be a rock band, it’s always going to be heavy, but hopefully just bring different elements, it’s going to sound like Biffy, it’s not going to be a reggae record put it that way.”

Biffy Clyro’s last album ‘Only Revolutions’ was released in 2009 and nominated for the Mercury Prize. The band have yet to announce details of a release date or title for their new album.

The band will play the Royal Albert Hall on March 23rd, and then support the Foo Fighters at the Milton Keynes Bowl on July 2nd and 3rd. Finally, Biffy Clyro will play at the Sonisphere Festival on the 9th of July.

Dave Grohl and his band played their new album, Wasting Light, in its entirety, before treating fans to a ‘Greatest Hits’ set which included songs such as Learn To Fly and Everlong.

“This is not an arena rock show,” Grohl announced upon taking to the stage. “This is something different. We’re gonna be here a long time, so get comfortable.” The band then went on to perform for almost 3 hours.

Arcade Fire, Guns N’ Roses and Blink 182 will headline the festival with acts such as The Libertines, Queens Of The Stone Age, Biffy Clyro, Lostprophets, Dizzee Rascal, The Cribs, The Maccabees, Paramore, and Weezer also confirmed to appear.

There are over 1,500 Leeds Festival tickets currently trading, including day tickets and early entry tickets.

Reading Festival is due to take place at Richfield avenue from Friday 27th August to Sunday 29th and will be headlined by Arcade Fire, Guns N Roses and Blink 182. Acts such as The Libertines, Queens Of The Stone Age, Biffy Clyro, Lostprophets, Dizzee Rascal, The Cribs, The Maccabees, Paramore, and Weezer.

The festival will provide seven separate stages full of entertainment across the three days, including the Alternative Stage which will be headlined by comedy acts Emo Phillips, Jason Byrne and Russell Kane.

The ambitious band have guaranteed a spectacular show for the crowd, with the famous UFO poised to make a mind-blowing appearance – despite being banned from Glastonbury Festival and T In The Park earlier this summer.

The band will now turn their attention to their upcoming UK performances, which will see them appear at Lancashire County Cricket Club on September 4th. The band will be supported by Editors, Band Of Skulls and Pulled Apart By Horses. They will then perform at Wembley Stadium on 10th September and will be joined by Lily Allen, The Big Pink and White Rabbits. For their second Wembley Stadium date on 11th September, the band will be supported by Biffy Clyro, White Lies and I Am Arrows.

There are currently over 4000 Muse tickets still trading for all of the above shows.

Muse have come a long way since the early days of Showbiz and Origin Of Symmetry, and third album Absolution illustrated the higher level that the band were aiming for. Black Holes and Revelations and Resistance have built on these foundations further, and Muse’s gigs at Lancashire County Cricket Club and Wembley Stadium in September sees them at the very top of their game.
