Two new acts added to the Reading and Leeds bill

It has been confirmed today that Young Legionnaire and Little Roy have been added to the Reading and Leeds 2011 bill on the Festival Republic Stage.

Little Roy is an unusual artist who has covered several Nirvana songs with his reggae stylings. While Young Legionnaire are a new band who feature The Automatic guitarist Paul Mullen and Gordon Moakes who is the ex bassist for Bloc Party.

The two acts added to the bill will join the likes of Muse, Pulp, The Strokes and My Chemical Romance who will all play on the main stage at the festivals in what is an amazing line up.

Reading Festival tickets and Leeds Festival tickets are still available online.

New Bloc Party album may be released this Summer

Many Bloc Party fans were left devastated by the news of Bloc Party’s hiatus due to Kele Okereke’s solo project. However now, those fans who were left disappointed by the bands parting of ways may have reason to cheer once more.

Speaking to the NME at Latitude, Kele Okereke (former Bloc Party frontman) said, “There are some plans for new stuff. I’m not sure what I can say… I’d be surprised if there wasn’t some new stuff before the end of the summer.”

This news will certainly excite many and is coherence with the band’s guitarist Russell Lissack, who confirmed earlier in the year that the band will be back together after the Summer.

Stay tuned for more news of Bloc Party. In the meantime, Kele fans can see him at this year’s V Festival.

Paul Simon and Foo Fighters added to iTunes Festival line-up

Foo Fighters and Paul Simon have been added to the list of acts due appear at this year’s series of free shows at the iTunes festival.

Paul Simon will open the month-long festival on the 1st of July at Camden’s Roundhouse venue, while the Foo Fighters are due to appear on the 11th. They join previously confirmed acts which include Beady Eye who take to the stage on the 3rd, current UK chart topper Adele (7th) and White Lies who are booked for the 13th.

The iTunes festival was initiated in 2007 when the likes of Travis, Stereophonics and Amy Winehouse appeared. In 2008 the event was expanded and staged at the KOKO in London, before moving to its present home in 2009 when Oasis, Bloc Party and Kasabian were amongst the performers.

Kele tickets out now for November 2010 UK tour

Kele Okereke is the singer of Bloc Party. Or was. No one is completely sure what is going on with the band after they went on indefinite hiatus almost a year ago.

Kele went his own way, and has recorded and released a new album – The Boxer. As well as a similar album title to The National’s 2007 LP, the lead single Tenderoni carries the same name as the Chromeo effort from the same year. Still, Kele has certainly gone his own way with his sound – it is unlike The National, Chromeo, or indeed Bloc Party.

The Boxer is a fine dance album, its electro ambition bursting at the seams. A new energy has been unleashed in Kele as a live performer too. Free of the shackles of holding a guitar in concert, he covers more ground on stage than a nervous comedian. His UK tour ought to be a spectacular series of concerts, and Kele tickets are on sale now for the following dates:

The future for Bloc Party looks uncertain

The future for Bloc Party will be decided after their current touring commitments

The upcoming dates to catch Bloc Party live in the UK could possibly be your last chance as frontman of the band Kele Okereke says he does not know if the band will record a new album.

Bloc Party are currently on the tour circuit having already performed at the iTunes Festival earlier this month, but Kele Okereke did not have a definite answer when asked recently what their future plans were.

Kele Okereke claimed that now they were out of contract, they could take some time off, maybe one or even three years.

He continued by saying that Bloc Party might never make a new album again, but then again could also end up straight back in the studio.

The only thing that seemed certain was that the band were to see how they feel once their touring schedules have been completed.

Bloc Party will have one more major UK festival to perform at, which is the Reading & Leeds Festival taking place at the Reading Richfield Avenue and the Leeds Bramham Park (August 28-30).

Then Bloc Party will head out on their headline tour of the UK throughout October.

The Bloctober tour begins at the Blackpool Empress Ballroom at Winter Gardens (October 2) and will be playing at many UK venues such as the Hull City Hall (October 8), Sheffield O2 Academy (October 10), Liverpool University (October 19) and the Bournemouth International Centre (October 31).

More iTunes Festival acts confirmed

Brian Molko of Placebo will be at the London Roundhouse for the iTunes Festival on July 14

Four more acts have been added to the line-up for this year’s iTunes Festival.

The iTunes Festival, now in its third year, is taking place at the London Roundhouse throughout July.

The four new confirmed acts and dates for the iTunes Festival are:

Placebo (July 14)

Calvin Harris (July 18)

Bloc Party (July 20)

Mika (July 31)

Tickets are free but are only available to competition winners only.

Fans who cannot win tickets will be pleased to hear that tickets are still available for other live shows featuring the same artists as those announced for the iTunes Festival.

Placebo, whose album Battle for the Sun entered this week’s album chart at number eight, will be touring the UK this December.

The Placebo tour kicks off at the Birmingham LG Arena (December 8 ) before stopping off at the London O2 Arena (December 9), Manchester Central (December 12) and the Glasgow SECC & Clyde Auditorium (December 14).

Meanwhile, Calvin Harris recently revealed that he is going to write and record a song in Los Angeles in December with Katy Perry for her next album.

The Calvin Harris tour begins at the LCR of the University of East Anglia (October 15) and will also play at the Leeds O2 Academy (October 21), Manchester Academy (October 24) and Glasgow O2 Academy (November 4) plus many more.

Also with plans for new material are Bloc Party, who plan to release a brand new single called One More Chance in August, which does not appear on their most recent album Intimacy.

The Bloc Party tour, called Bloctober, starts at the Blackpool Empress Ballroom at Winter Gardens (October 2) and will stop off at many UK venues such as the Sheffield O2 Academy (October 10), Bristol O2 Academy (October 20), Brighton Centre and ending at the Bournemouth International Centre (October 31).

Biffy Clyro tour dates announced

Simon Neil with band Biffy Clyro will be touring the UK this Autumn

Biffy Clyro have announced details of their forthcoming UK tour.

Biffy Clyro are currently recording their fifth studio album in Los Angeles with producer Garth Richardson.

Garth Richardson also worked with Biffy Clyro on their last album titled Puzzle, which was released in June 2007.

Fans of Biffy Clyro can expect the new album to be released in September 2009, with songs from the new album expected to feature heavily on the tour that follows.

The Biffy Clyro tour comes to the UK on November 1 at the Dundee Caird Hall followed by two shows at the Glasgow Barrowland (November 2 & 3).

Biffy Clyro will also play at the Nottingham Rock City (November 8), Birmingham O2 Academy (November 9) and the London Brixton O2 Academy (November 12) before bringing the tour to a close at the Southampton Guildhall (November 16).

Biffy Clyro tickets to these new dates will go on general sale on Friday June 19 at 9am.

However, fans of Biffy Clyro who cannot wait until then can catch the Scottish band in action at the V Festival, which takes place at Chelmsford Hylands Park and Shifnal Weston Park over the weekend of August 22-23.

The Maccabees and Little Boots to play Oxegen Festival

It has recently been revealed that Little Boots and The Maccabees will join the list of top acts set to perform at this year’s Oxegen Festival which is set to take place at Punchestown Racecourse this summer (July 10-12)

Bands including The Killers, Snow Patrol, Kings of Leon and Blur have already been confirmed as the headline acts for the 2009 Oxegen Festival.

Fans will be glad to learn that some of this year’s Oxegen Festival headline acts will also be on tour in the UK this summer.

Blur kick off their 2009 tour at Southend-on-Sea Cliffs Pavilion on June 24. The 2009 Blur tour also calls at Newcastle O2 Academy (June 25) and Manchester Evening News Arena (June 26). The Blur tour climaxes at London Hyde Park with two massive shows (July 2 & 3). Meanwhile, Kings of Leon perform five huge arena concerts in London and Manchester. The Kings of Leon tour includes three shows at London O2 Arena (June 15,16 & 30) and two performances at Manchester Evening News Arena. (June 22 & 23). Nirvana to release Reading Festival DVD

It has recently been confirmed that Universal Music are set to release the official recording of the hugely popular Nirvana performance from the 1992 Reading Festival.

A bootleg copy of performance was previously circulated online and proved to be so popular that Universal Music and the remaining members of Nirvana agreed to release the footage officially.

An unofficial video of the show, ‘Life Takes No Prisoners, will be released on May 4. The official DVD is due to be released in November.

The 2009 Reading Festival line up includes a number of huge acts. Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Bloc Party, Prodigy and Kaiser Chiefs are all on the bill. Reading Festival sold out within hours of going on sale, but tickets are still available to compare at Tixdaq.

A number of this year’s Reading Festival headliners are on tour in the UK in 2009. Kings of Leon visit London and Manchester in June. Kings of Leon are set to play three massive shows at the London O2 Arena (15, 16 & 30 June) and two shows at the Manchester Evening News Arena (22 & 23 June). Bloc Party set to release remix album

It has been announced that Bloc Party are set to release a remix album based around songs from their most recent LP Intimacy.

The album, to be titled ‘Intimacy Remixed’, is due to be released this May 11 and will be preceded by a single release of Signs which has been remixed by Armand Van Helden, on April 27.

The Bloc Party remix album will feature remixes by acts such as Armand Van Helden, Mogwai, No Age and Filthy Dukes.

Bloc Party are due to embark on a tour later on this year as the launch a month of shows they are rechristening BLOCTOBER . The Bloc Party tour will kick off at Blackpool Empress Ballroom (October 2). Glasvegas, Doves and Eagles of Death Metal to join Oxegen 2009

Glasvegas, Doves Nine Inch Nails, Pet Shop Boy’s and Jane’s Addiction have been confirmed to perform at Ireland’s Oxegen festival this summer.

The Saturdays, Eagles Of Death Metal, Dreadzone, God Is An Astronaut, Tom Middleton,Aeroplane, Gary Go and Hudson Mohawke have also been added to the line-up for the bash, set to take place at Punchestown Racecourse in Ireland on July 10 and 12.

Oasis and Kings of Leon lead NME Awards charge

This years NME award nomination’s are dominated by former britpop legends Oasis and current Usrock royalty Kings of Leon. Oasis have been nominated for seven awards, including best band, best live band, best album and best video while Kings of Leon are in line for four statues, in the categories of best international band and best live band.

Life performances at the awards show are due to given by hotly tipped newcomers White Lies, Friendly Fires and Glasvegas, seasoned pro’s Franz Ferdinand and life time legend’s The Cure

Lily Allen joins Kings of Leon and The Killers on Oxegen Stage

Lily Allen, Keane, The Specials, Paolo Nutini, Digitalism and The Mars Volta are all amongst the latest round of performers confirmed to be playing this year’s Oxegen festival.

Wallis Bird, Swedish House Mafia, Miss Kittin and The Hacker, Crookers and Hockey have also been added to the line-up for the bash, set to take place at Punchestown Racecourse on (July 10, 11 & 12).

Lily Allen and The Ting Tings bring femine touch to T in the Park

Franz Ferdinand, Lily Allen, Manic Street Preachers, Bloc Party and The Ting Tings are the latest group of acts added to the T In The Park festival line-up.

T in the Park last year won Best UK Festival Line-up at last year’s UK Festival Awards and look set to compete again this year with Franz Ferdinand and The Ting Tings joining acts such as Kings Of Leon, Katie Perry, Blur and Snow Patrol, Razorlight, Pete Doherty, Elbow, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pendulum and White Lies who have all previously confirmed appearances at the Scottish festival. Hundreds of T in the Park tickets are still available from £154.

Promoter’s MCD have announced that The Killers have joined the line-up for this year’s Oxegen festival.

Having also confirmed a series of festival appearances this summer including T In The Park, the Las Vegas band will also headline the Irish festival for the second year in a row at Punchestown Racecourse between July 10-12.

Blur to make Manchester return

It has recently been announced that Blur will play the first date of their reunion tour at Manchester MEN Arena. The Brit Pop stars will be returning to the stage on June 26.

Tickets for this long awaited show at Manchester MEN Arena will be available this coming Friday (February 13) and will act as a precursor to the already sold out Blur concerts at London’s Hyde Park (July 2 , 3).

Blur have also announced performances at T in The park along with already confirmed act Kings of Leon, Snow Patrol and Katy Perry and also Ireland’s Oxegen festival were they will be joining the likes of Killers and Bloc Party.

Further still Blur are rumoured to marking their historic return as one of the headline acts of this year’s Glastonbury Festival which takes place June 27 and 28, though this is yet to be confirmed.

Oasis up for 7 gongs

Today, the nominations for this year’s NME Awards, also known as the Brats, were announced. Oasis lead the way in the nominations list and are in the running for awards including Best Live Band, Best Album and both Best and Worst Band.

Oasis’ Noel Gallagher has also been nominated for two awards: Best Dressed and Hero of the Year.

Other acts nominated include Kings of Leon, Bloc Party and The Killers.

Alex Turner’s two indie acts. The Last Shadow Puppets and Arctic Monkeys alos feature in the nominations. To see a full list of the nominees, click here.

A number of the artist nominated for this year’s NME Awards are on the road in 2009. The Oasis tour kicks off with three shows at Heaton Park in Manchester (June 4, 6 &7). Oasis play seven further dates including performances at Sunderland Stadium of Light (June 10), Cardiff Millennium Stadium (June 12), Murrayfield Stadium in Glasgow (June 17) and Coventry’s Ricoh Arena (July 7). The Oasis tour comes to a close in London with four shows at Wembley Stadium (July 9, 11 & 12). Loads of Oasis tickets are still available from £40. Fellow NME Awards nominees The Killers, Kings of Leon and Bloc Party are also on tour this year. Tickets are still available to see all of these acts in concert in 2009.

Despite the doom and gloom of the current economic climate there are still plenty of optimists out there. One chancer is seeking to banish the blues by selling 2 Elton John tickets for his New Year’s Eve party at London’s O2 Arena. The tickets are on sale through ticket exchange GetMeIn.com for over £50,000.

There’s no doubt that Elton John has no shortage of loyal fans and we all know that emotion can play a big part in the pricing of top concert tickets for super celebs with idolising supporters. The Elton John tickets in question had an original face value of £109 and are located in block B1 so not even best seats in the house.

Tixdaq.com, the ticket comparison website, is currently listing over 2,500 tickets for Elton John’s Red Piano UK tour which runs for 8 additional dates throughout the UK. Decent Elton John tickets will set you back over £100 with plenty of A1, front of house tickets, trading in excess of £500.

Let’s hope that Elton John fans have deep pockets or at the very least a good sense of humour.
