Taking the prestigious slot on December 31st, the band are to play their 1991 album, Screamadelica, in full. The show offers fans a rare opportunity to see the band, whose only other UK appearance will be at Bestival this September. Previous artists who have performed at the event include Madness, Kasabian, Groove Armada, Blondie and Biffy Clyro.

Primal Scream tickets will go on sale this Thursday (September 1st).

Sheeran will now play Galway’s Róisín Dubh on November 3rd and tickets are sure to be in high demand. Ed Sheeran will also be playing this year’s Bestival alongside acts such as Blondie, Pendulum and the Cure.

Also on today’s bill are acts including Frank Turner, the Levellers and French Soler. Last night the Cribs played a triumphant show to the delight of crowds, while Chase and Status set the crowd on fire with their headline slot on the Friday night.

Blondie will also be playing at this year’s Bestival along with the likes of the Maccabees and Willy Mason.

The forecast for the festival which kicks off this Friday (29th July) looks surprisingly good. It should be sunny with cloudy spells and a chance of rain on Friday, sunny spells and cloud on Saturday and then sun on the Sunday.

A spokeswoman from the Met Office stated ”Tomorrow will see highs of around 18 degrees though it will feel cool in the wind. Temperatures will pick up on Sunday with highs of 22 degrees  though again in the breeze it will feel a bit cooler. The evenings are also looking dry with temps of around 11 degrees.”

This is good news for those Secret Garden Party goers who will also be able to see such acts as Blondie, Mystery Jets and Snow Club.

The US hip-hop star headlined the festival after performances from the likes of The Drums, Katy B, Lykke Li and Groove Armada throughout the day. Fans braved the rain for most of the day at the Victoria Park event, and were rewarded with renditions of tracks such as Gin and Juice and Who Am I?

Taking place in London’s Victoria Park and founded by Groove Armada, the weekend music festival has been labelled “London’s most convincing festival” by NME, and although only running since 2002, has become a firm favourite within the young festival-goers scene.

Headlining the Gaymers Stage on Friday (July 15th) are The Wombats, with support coming from Example and Metronomy. Ed Banger headlines the Relentless Energy Drink Arena. Also appearing on Friday are Ms Dynamite, Vice and Aeroplane.

Saturday (July 16th) features headliner Snoop Dogg take to the main stage, supported by Katy B, Santigold (formerly Santogold) and Jessie J. The Drums, Lykke Li and The Joy Formidable appear on The Gaymers Stage, with Groove Armada set to headline the Relentless Energy Drink Arena.

On Sunday (July 17th) Scissor Sisters will headline the main stage, with 2ManyDJs, Blondie and Beth Ditto supporting. On The Gaymers Stage Robyn and Kelis headline, while This Is… Circus headline the Relentless Energy Drink Arena.

The music legend’s poster for her 1981 debut solo album Koo Koo was banned from London Underground stations for being too controversial. Debbie thinks her innovative style and creativity may have offended some people.

“Oh yeah, because it was me with some skewers through my face. I guess they considered it S&M or something and didn’t want to upset the people going to work. I was too hardcore for commuters,” she laughed in an interview with NME.

The American songstress says the artwork was just that, so the “skewers” that were seemingly attached to her face weren’t real. The blonde beauty has joked she would have been better off naked on her poster, as that probably would have been more acceptable.

“For the record? No [my face wasn’t really skewered] Nudity is fine, but needles are not cool,” she added.

The publication claims the Canadian-based band played a set consisting of four covers – Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s ‘Who’ll Stop The Rain‘, The Rolling Stones‘ ‘The Last Time‘, Blondie‘s ‘The Tide Is High‘ and Cyndi Lauper‘s ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun‘ – alongside a selection of their own favourites including ‘Keep The Car Running‘ and ‘Power Out‘.

Arcade Fire have strong links to Haiti thanks to principal member Régine Chassagne, whose parents emigrated from Haiti to Canada, and have been working hard to raise money for the Haitian Earthquake Relief initiative throughout their touring schedule’s of 2010 and 2011.

The Pigeon Detectives told Xfm that the city is home to many of their musical heroes – including The Strokes, Blondie and Interpol. Matt from the band said they were really keen to experience the lifestyle rather than mimic it: “It’s good to get out there and immerse ourselves in the New York lifestyle: rather than just being tourists we actually lived and breathed it.”

The band are touring the UK throughout March and April, taking them the length and breadth of the country. Their new album, ‘Up, Guards and At ‘Em!’ is out on April 4.

Fans with Isle of Wight Festival tickets can expect big things this summer, with a line-up that could be considered one of the best festival bills of the summer. The event will be headlined by Jay-Z, The Strokes and Paul McCartney and there will also be appearances across the weekend from the likes of  Florence and the Machine, Blondie, Calvin Harris and Biffy Clyro.

Isle of Wight festival weekend with camping tickets can be picked up on the secondary ticket market for around £185. Alternatively, weekend tickets without camping can be bought for as little as £120.

Hard Rock Calling tickets:

Although only in it’s fourth year in 2010, Hard Rock Calling is quickly establishing itself as one of the best London festivals of the year. This year, as well as his Isle of Wight appearance, Paul McCartney will be headlining, along with Pearl Jam and Stevie Wonder. Other acts include The Hives, Jamiroquai, Crowded House, Crosby, Stills and Nash and Elvis Costello.

Although weekend tickets are not available, Hard Rock Calling day tickets are currently trading for as little as £40. That is less than the average price paid to see Paul McCartney perform at his upcoming headline shows here in the UK.

Reading and Leeds Festival tickets:

Perhaps a festival aimed more at the younger generation of festival goers, the Reading and Leeds festival boasts a huge line-up that can surely compete with that of Glastonbury. Blink 182, The Libertines, Guns N’ Roses, Arcade Fire, Dizzee Rascal and Cypress Hill will all be appearing on the main stage throughout the weekend.

Expect to pay around £230 on the secondary ticket market for a weekend ticket with camping to either Reading or Leeds. Considering the face value price was around £190 when the tickets went on sale a few months ago, it is well worth spending the extra few pounds to take advantage of the fantastic line-up.

Hop Farm Festival tickets:

Hop Farm Festival may not be the most talked about festival of the summer, but it will this year play host to the likes of Bob Dylan, Pete Doherty, Van Morrison, Laura Marling and Seasick Steve. The festival takes place in Tonbridge this July and is probably the cheapest alternative to Glastonbury this summer.

Day tickets cost around £45 each, with camping tickets costing £25 on top of that.

Gorillaz tickets:

Although not exactly a festival alternative, Gorillaz will be touring the UK in September on the back of their Glastonbury headline appearance. The band will be appearing at venues such as Glasgow SECC, Birmingham NIA, Newcastle Metro Radio Arena, Manchester MEN Arena,London O2 Arena and Dublin O2 Arena.

Gorillaz support acts for the September UK tour are yet to be announced, but expect some big names after appearances from Bobby Womack, De La Soul, Shaun Ryder and Super Furry Animals songwriter Gruff Rhys at the band’s Roundhouse shows in April. Ticket prices start at around £40.
