Now this confrontation may reach its climax as Liam Gallagher has announced he is suing his brother Noel over comments he made about the end of Oasis. It seems Liam is furious with Noel’s previous allegations that the band cancelled their performance at V Festival because Liam had a hangover and the direct cause of the band’s split was over a clothing row.

Liam released a statement to the Sun stating, “I have taken legal action against Noel Gallagher for statements he made claiming Oasis pulled out of the 2009 V Festival Chelmsford gig because I had a hangover. That is a lie and I want Oasis fans and others who were at V to know the truth. I was gutted when I couldn’t play the gig because I didn’t want to let the fans down.”

Noel is sure to hit back at these comments and the situation is likely to get a lot worse before it gets better. Meanwhile, Liam’s new band Beady Eye will be performing at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals.

The musical is being produced by Judy Craymer, the woman behind the stage and screen version of Mamma Mia, and Mel C has told of how much she is looking forward to experiencing the “magic” of Craymer’s production. The musical production team behind High School Musical Live on Stage! are planning a new stage version of the TV movie sequel, ‘High School Musical 2.’ The much anticipated show will launch in the UK at London’s Wimbledon Theatre in August 2009.

The production is currently already selling tickets up until January 2nd, 2010, with further dates due to be announced for 2010.

The stage production is expected to be directed by Jeff Calhoun, who has been involved in the Broadway production of Grease and Big River and the US and UK stage versions of High School Musical Live On Stage!

First broadcast in September 2007, the Disney Channel’s ‘High School Musical 2′ has been viewed by over 273 million people worldwide. .

Arts Council England have teamed up with the Metro newspaper to launch a new scheme aimed at increasing the attendance of young people at English theatres.

Launched at the Donmar Warehouse theatre in Covent Garden yesterday A Night Less Ordinary offers thousands of free theatre tickets to anyone under the age of 26 for a wide variety of theatre events including comedy, tragedies, musical theatre, dance, modern mime, plays, circus and much more.

More than 200 venues throughout England have agreed to participate in the scheme which is planned to run until February 2011.

Free Theatre Tickets are available to those under the age of 26 from the Art’s Council England website. Meanwhile other West End theatre tickets for such shows Blood Brothers, Oliver, The Sound of Music, Mamma Mia, Jersey Boys, Blue Man Group, We Will Rock You, Enjoy and Billy Elliot remain available from as little as £12.

Djalili, who has spent a number of years working the standup comedy circuit will take over July 20 joining the rest of the original cast and is scheduled to continue in the West End favourite until December 12.

The Cameron Mackintosh production opened last month with the West End’s largest ever advance sales (£15m) and is currently booking until February 2010

Currently running at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Oliver! which also stars Jodie Prenger, winner of the BBC talent show I’d Do Anything as Nancy has been a tremendous success since it opened on proving a favourite with West End audiences. Oliver! tickets are still available and begin at £15

Meanwhile Best Musical went to the revival of La Cage Aux Folles, a production that started life at the Menier Chocolate Factory before moving to the West End’s Playhouse Theatre.

Perhaps the most interesting result was in the Best Shakespearean Performance category. The critics were clearly split on this one and in the end the prize was shared between David Tennant for his RSC Hamlet  and Derek Jacobi for his performance as Malvolio in the Donmar’s West End staging of Twelfth Night

Harvey saw off strong competition from his former colleague Eric Underwood of The Royal Ballet and from the English National Ballet’s Esteban Berlanga to take the award. The award winning dancer said he was ‘delighted and honoured to receive this prestigious award’.

Dirty Dancing – The Musical cast’s Martin Harvey in the role of Johnny Castle originally made famous by Patrick Swayze in the 1987 feature film. Meanwhile Leanne Rowe has been cast in the female lead Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman.
