Download is world renowned for bringing the world’s biggest metal and rock acts to its site at Donington Park, and this year was no exception. The 2011 headliners were Def Leppard, System of a Down and Linkin Park. Also on the 2011 bill were acts such as Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine and Bring me the Horizon.

Next year is sure to provide more rock giants and the organisers have already revealed that they have booked all the headline acts for the 2012 festival but won’t confirm who they have got to play.

Bands such as Bullet for my Valentine, 30 Seconds to Mars and You Me At Six are also up for awards. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on June 9th.

The news comes following the success of My Chemical Romance’s fourth studio album, which was released in late 2010. My Chemical Romance tickets are on sale now for the band’s summer UK festival appearance.

The Sheffield rockers will play Belfast’s Odyssey Arena on June 7th and the O2 in Dublin on June 8th. They are then set to headline Download alongside System Of A Down and Linkin Park. The festival will take place at Donington Park over the weekend of June 10th-12th.

Other acts confirmed to appear at Download include Bullet For My Valentine, Alter Bridge, Korn, Alice Cooper and Pendulum.

Def Leppard tickets go on sale on Friday.

Alice Cooper has also been confirmed for the festival taking place at Donington Park from 10th to 12th June, along with Korn, Danzig, The Cult, GWAR, Masters Of Reality, Black Veil Brides, The Damned Things, Escape The Fate, Hollywood Undead and Rise To Remain.

Bullet For My Valentine’s latest album “Fever” was released in April 2010, reaching number 5 in the UK Album Charts. It has produced four singles, including “Your Betrayal”, “The Last Fight”, “Bittersweet Memories” and “Fever”.

Bullet For My Valentine tickets for their Wembley Arena show are currently trading from £20 to £350. The cheapest tickets are available from ticketing websites Seetickets, Eventim, Gigantic and Ticketline and are for seats located in both the lower and upper tiers. The cheapest standing tickets are priced at £22.50.

Hard Rock Calling tickets have been falling in price in recent weeks, with tickets to see Paul McCartney on the final day of the festival, Sunday 27th June, now trading from £32. In fact, it is cheaper to buy Paul McCartney tickets for his Hard Rock Calling performance than to buy tickets for any of his scheduled stadium shows. With a general admission day ticket, fans will gain full entry to the festival and can also witness performances from the likes of Crowded House, Elvis Costello and Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Hard Rock Calling takes place in Hyde Park from Friday 25th June to Sunday 27th June. Hard Rock Calling tickets for Pearl Jam’s headline performance on the Friday can also be picked up for £32. Saturday tickets for Stevie Wonder’s headline appearance start at £45.

Download Festival tickets are still available, despite the event getting under way tomorrow. Download weekend tickets are currently available on the secondary ticket market for less than £150. Music fans with download tickets will have the chance to witness headline performances from AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine and Aerosmith. This year’s line up also includes Deftones, Motorhead, Slash, 30 Seconds to Mars, Bullet For My Valentine, The Blackout and A Day to Remember.

Hop Farm Festival tickets are also trading below face value. Hop Farm Festival may not be the most talked about festival of the summer, but it will this year play host to the likes of Bob Dylan, Pete Doherty, Van Morrison, Laura Marling and Seasick Steve. The festival takes place in Tonbridge this July and day tickets cost around £45 each, with camping tickets costing £25 on top of that.

Although no act has been confirmed for the Download Festival yet, in December AC/DC announced on their official website they were playing the festival, only for it to be taken down minutes later. Also heavily rumoured for the Donington Park event are Pearl Jam, Muse, Motorhead, Bullet For My Valentine and Volbeat.

Abba tribute band Bjorn Again are confirmed to perform at Sonisphere 2009

Heavy metal band Anthrax will reunite with their former vocalist John Bush for a one-off performance at this year’s Sonisphere Festival after Dan Nelson recently left the band because of an ‘unexpected illness’.

Anthrax had to cancel some shows in Europe leading up to Sonisphere 2009, as well as some US shows for August and September.

However, it has been confirmed that their Sonisphere appearance was still going ahead but was now going to feature their former lead singer. Anthrax are now looking for a new lead vocalist and hope to tour later this year or in 2010.

It has also been announced that the Abba tribute band Bjorn Again are also appearing at Sonisphere 2009. Anthrax join headliners Linkin Park and Taking Back Sunday on the Apollo Stage on Saturday August 1 whilst Bjorn Again join Bullet For My Valentine and The Used on the Saturn Stage, also on the Saturday.

Taking Back Sunday and The Used are also touring the UK. Taking Back Sunday are playing the Glasgow ABC (July 29), Liverpool O2 Academy (July 30) and Leeds University (August 2). The Used are playing the London Relentless Garage (August 5), Birmingham O2 Academy (September 22) and the London Electric Ballroom (September 23).

Sonisphere 2009 takes place at the Hertfordshire Knebworth Park over the weekend of August 1-2, where headlining the Apollo Stage on Sunday will be Metallica, Nine Inch Nails and Limp Bizkit.

Limp Bizkit will also be playing at the London HMV Forum on August 1 as part of the Kerrang! Week of Rock.

Organisers of the Sonisphere Festival, the first ever in the UK, have revealed the line-ups for the two main stages for this year’s event which is set to take place at Knebworth Park, Hertfordshire.

Acts scheduled to appear have already been revealed but festival-goers will be glad to hear that the performances on the two main stages will happen alternately so fans don’t have to miss any of the top acts on the bill.

The headline acts for this year’s Sonisphere are Linkin Park on Saturday August 1, and Metallica on Sunday August 2.

Meanwhile, Linkin Park band member Mike Shinoda has been talking about the follow up album to Minutes To Midnight, which was released in 2007.

Linkin Park are currently half way writing their new album, expected to be released in early 2010, but it won’t be rushed as Linkin Park would rather take a step back if required to make it their best album yet.

Mike Shinoda wants to make a different and cutting-edge album with Linkin Park, and is expecting it to be genre-breaking.

Also on the Main Stage on Saturday August 1 at Sonisphere are Heaven & Hell, Coheed & Cambria, Fear Factory and Taking Back Sunday.

Taking Back Sunday are on tour of UK venues just before Sonisphere, like at the Liverpool O2 Academy on July 30 and at Cardiff University on July 31.

On the Second Stage on Saturday August 1 at Sonisphere are Bullet For My Valentine, Airbourne, The Used, Anthrax and Skindred.

Skindred are also touring the UK with many dates throughout October this year. The Skindred tour currently begins at The Waterfront Norwich on September 30 and ends at London Electric Ballroom on October 20.

On the Main Stage on Sunday August 2 with Metallica are Nine Inch Nails, Machine Head, Lamb Of God, Mastodon and Killing Joke.

Mastodon tour the UK with a few June dates, beginning with the Sheffield Corporation (June 5) before ending at the O2 Academy Islington (June 9).
