Taken from today’s London Evening Standard, here are the hottest open-air gigs and festivals coming up this summer across the City of London. There is plenty to see and do, and this summer looks set to be one of London’s busiest in years, with both the elite forces of Sport and Music all converging on one City. Take a look through the list and find out your ideal line-up:

Field Day

One day of leftfield indie and electronica featuring Franz Ferdinand, Charlatans man Tim Burgess, The Vaccines, Mazzy Star and Metronomy. June 2, Victoria Park, E3

Chase and Status will headline the Manchester gig, and will be supported by the likes of Nero, Ed Sheeran, The Big Pink and Fenech-Soler.

The Kaiser Chiefs will top the bill at the London show, treating fans to a ‘Greatest Hits’ set, and will be supported by The Maccabees and The Horrors, with another special guest yet to be announced.

Example will be performing at this year’s V Festival later this month alongside acts including Eminem, the Arctic Monkeys and Plan B.

Chase and Status tickets are available online for the group’s 2011 UK tour.

Fish’s debut solo album will be called Life In Monochrome and is to be released on September 26th. The album is said to have been inspired by artists including Ray Davies and Damon Albarn. Fish reveals the record is the result of a “period of transition” in his life – coming out of a six-year relationship and beginning a new one. The new album will have eleven tracks, and is released through Music For Wolves.

Mystery Jets are still playing UK dates, and will perform at Bingley Music Live in September, alongside artists including Athelete, Chase & Status, Feeder, Maximo Park, Eliza Doolittle, Fun Lovin’ Criminals and The Sunshine Underground.

Friday night (July 8th) will see headliners Black Eyed Peas take to the main stage, supported by The Script and My Chemical Romance. The Strokes and Swedish House Mafia headline the Vodafone stage, with Leftfield and Calvin Harris topping the bill on the Heineken Green Spheres stage.

Saturday (June 8th) has headliners Foo Fighters supported by Arctic Monkeys and Beady Eye. Paolo Nutini and deadmau5 are top of the bill on the Vodafone stage while Brandon Flowers headlines the Heineken Green Spheres stage.

Closing the festival on Sunday night will be Coldplay, supported by Beyonce and Slash. On the vodafone stage, The National and Pendulum head the line-up, while Primal Scream and Chase & Status top the bill on the Heineken Green Spheres stage.

A host of other world-class bands, as well as an incredible, unique atmosphere have made the festival a favourite on the festival circuit.

The weekend features headline performances from Arctic Monkeys (July 8th), Coldplay (July 9th) and Foo Fighters (July 10th). Also appearing on the main stage across the weekend are Plan B, Jessie J, Beyonce, The Script, My Chemical Romance and Pulp.

Headlining the Radio 1/NME stage are Pendulum (July 8th), The Strokes (July 9th) and Deadmau5 (July 10th). The stage also plays host to White Lies, Jimmy Eat World, Friendly Fires, Beady Eye and Tinie Tempah.

In the infamous King Tut’s Wah Wah tent will be headliners 2manydjs (July 8th), Primal Scream (July 9th) and Calvin Harris (July 10th), with Tom Jones, Chase & Status and Brandon Flowers just a few of the great acts also performing.

T in the Park recently won the coveted Festival of the Year Award, and is renowned for its consistently incredible line-ups and unique excited atmosphere.

The weekend is headlined by Black Eyed Peas today (July 1st), The Chemical Brothers on Saturday (July 2nd) and Pulp (July 3rd). Also appearing across the weekend on the main stage are Plan B, Tinie Tempah, Chase & Status, The Streets, Grace Jones and TV On The Radio. Headlining the Pepsi Max Stage are David Guetta (July 1st), Aphex Twin (July 2nd) and Foals (July 3rd), with Alexis Jordan, Battles, and The Pretty Reckless just a sample of the other acts appearing.

Pulp’s headline show comes after their recent reunion – previously they had been on a hiatus since 2002. Last weekend they took Glastonbury by storm when performing a secret gig on The Park Stage.

The festival is set in the heart of London in Hyde Park, which last night (June 30th) played host to 60,000 fans watching a spectacular Arcade Fire set.

Headlining an all star line-up on Friday (July 1st), The Black Eyed Peas appear last on the main stage after performances from Example, Bruno Mars, Tinie Tempah and Plan B. Also on the first day of the festival, David Guetta headlines the Pepsi Max Stage while Chipmunk tops the bill on the Barclaycard Unwind Stage.

Saturday (July 2nd) sees a main stage headline set from dance superstars The Chemical Brothers. Also present on the main stage will be Katy B, Ke$ha, Chromeo, The Streets and Chase & Status. Electronic artist Aphex Twin headlines the Pepsi Max Stage with Justin Robertson headlining the Barclaycard Unwind Stage.

This Sunday (July 3rd), see reformed superstars Pulp close the festival on the main stage. Supporting them will be Devotchka, Metronomy, The Horrors, The Hives, TV On The Radio and Grace Jones. Math-rockers Foals headline the Pepsi Max Stage, while Funeral Party will close the Barclaycard Unwind Stage.

This coming weekend (July 8th-10th) sees T In The Park descend into Balado, Scotland. Famous for its charged atmosphere and unique Scottish vibe, the three-day event once again has a world-class line-up. Featuring headline sets from Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Foo Fighters, support comes from an incredible line-up including Beyonce, The Strokes, Pulp, The Script, 2manydjs, and My Chemical Romance. T in the Park tickets can be bought from just £161.

Latitude Festival arrives in Suffolk on July 15th, for three days of incredible music in one of the most relaxed festivals in the country. The weekend will see headline performances from The National (Friday 15th), Paolo Nutini (Saturday 16th) and Suede (Sunday 17th). Also appearing on the Obelisk Arena are Bright Eyes, Paloma Faith, The Cribs, My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas and Hurts. Headlining The Word Arena are Bombay Bicycle Club (15th), Foals (16th) and Eels (17th), with The Vaccines, Echo & The Bunnymen and Lykke Li also appearing.

Latitude Festival tickets for the weekend are currently selling for as little as £121.

On August 20th, V Festival kicks off in Chelmsford (Hylands Park) and Staffordshire (Weston Park). Headlining the two-day event are Eminem and Arctic Monkeys, with support from chart favourites such as Rihanna, Plan B, The Script, Kaiser Chiefs, Manic Street Preachers and Lostprophets. Pendulum and Dizzee Rascal headline the 4Music Stage, with Duran Duran and Chase and Status set to top the bill on The Arena Stage. The weekend is a favourite due to regularly world-class headliners and excellent atmosphere.

V Festival weekend tickets are selling from £200 for the Chelmsford event, and £190 for the Hylands Park weekend.

Both Reading Festival and Leeds Festival take place over the August bank holiday weekend, Friday 26th – Sunday 28th. Consistently having some of the best line-ups of the festival circuit has made the weekend a firm favourite of the summer. Headlining the main stage this year are Muse, My Chemical Romance and Pulp and The Strokes, with support coming from Elbow, Interpol, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Offspring, and Jimmy Eat World. The NME/Radio 1 Stage has headline sets from 2manydjs, Beady Eye and Jane’s Addiction, with The Streets, Death From Above 1979, White Lies, Noah and the Whale, Crystal Castles and Bombay Bicycle Club adding to the excellent line-up.

Reading festival tickets are currently on sale from as little as £135, while Leeds Festival tickets can be bought for £150.

Bestival is one of the summer’s latest festivals, but also one of the most critically acclaimed. Featuring a famous incredibly chilled-out atmosphere, the weekend is a frequent award winner, including best major UK festival in 2010. This year’s festival, taking place September 9th – 11th, features headliners Pendulum, The Cure and Primal Scream. Also at the Isle of Wight festival will be PJ Harvey, The Maccabees, Crystal Castle, Chromeo, Robyn, Public Enemy, Fatboy Slim and The Drums.

An eclectic line-up for an eclectic festival, with Bestival tickets available from £160.

Discussing her early listening tastes, the 21-year-old said: “I was brought up on female vocalists like Destiny’s Child, then I moved onto Faith Evans and Alicia Keys. I started stealing Alicia’s chord sequences and melodies.”

Katy, real name Kathleen Brien, reached number 2 in the charts with her dubstep-influenced debut album On A Mission earlier this month. She believes her record was released at just the right time.

“The charts are really embracing UK underground music now. Previously it was all guitar bands. Now that artists like Chase & Status and Magnetic Man are coming through, it’s the right time for a more rootsy sound.”

Katy B embarks on a tour of the U.K in April, before taking a break for the summer and going on a lrger scale tour of the U.K in the Autumn.

The band have said that its ‘exciting’ to be partof this year’s line-up that also includes Beady Eye, Linkin Park, Adele, White Lies and Mogwai. The festival will see 62 bands play across 31 nights at the Camden Roundhouse in Chalk Farm.

The London electronic production duo of Saul “Chase” Milton and Will “Status” Kennard have released two albums, and since the release of their second effort this year, are going from strength to strength.

Oxegen Festival will take place at Punchestown Racecourse, Co. Kildare from the 7th to to the 10th July.

Wireless Festival 2011 will take place at Hyde Park in London from the 1st to 3rd July, with more acts set to be announced shortly.

Jamiroquai will kick off the shows at HMV Forum in Kentish Town, London on 20th October, followed by Chase & Status on the 21st October. Paolo Nutini will perform at the same venue on 22nd October, as will Mark Ronson on the 23rd October. The shows will be concluded with a performance from Neill Finn at London’s Jazz Café on 24th October.

Ticket prices for all shows will start at £28.

Acts confirmed include Dizzee Rascal and Hot Chip on Friday, The Flaming Lips and Roxy Music on Saturday, and The Prodigy on Sunday, plus Mumford & Sons, The Temper Trap, The xx, Fever Ray, Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem, Gil Scott-Heron, Chase & Status, Echo and the Bunnymen, Simian Mobile Disco, Delphic, Rolf Harris, The Cuban Brothers and many more.

Although officially sold out from primary ticket vendors, Bestival weekend tickets start trading at £190 on the secondary ticket market, with the cheapest currently listed on fan-to-fan ticket exchange website Viagogo. Tickets are also available from vendors such as Seatwave, GetMeIn and eBay.

Ja Rule told DJ Vlad that he doesn’t think there will be an age limit on hip hop anymore, for he can’t see his music taste changing, and the most senior rappers are still at the peak of their powers – and showing no signs of retirement.

Jay-Z headlines Wireless Festival on Sunday 4th July – American Independence Day, incidentally – and he tops an incredible bill with Lily Allen, Slash, Chase & Status, Friendly Fires, Tinie Tempah and D12 to name but a few.

The Forestry Commission decided the best way to combat the issue of receding forests was to try and get some of music’s top acts to perform in Britain’s stunning settings, and so the tour was founded.
