Lady Gaga speaks out about opening MTV’s Video Music Awards

Lady Gaga has today spoken out about her upcoming performance at MTV’s Video Music Awards this Sunday (August 28th).

She told MTV “I’m really very honored and excited to open the show. But I won’t reveal anything; I want it to be a surprise. “I was just really excited and I was really happy because they asked me after I told them what I wanted to do. So it was even more exciting because I knew that it was based off the performance idea and MTV believing in me as an artist and they have, and I appreciate that, from the beginning.”

Also due to perform at the VMAs are Adele, Beyonce and Chris Brown.

Lady Gaga will also be performing at next month’s iHeart Radio Music Festival in Las Vegas.

The full list of stage times has been confirmed for next weekend’s Leeds Festival.

The three-day event is held at Bramham Park from Friday 26th – Sunday 28th August. Friday will see Muse headline the main stage, whilst on Saturday My Chemical Romance take the top spot, and Sunday sees a joint headline position shared by The Strokes and Pulp.

Taking place from this Friday (August 26th) to Sunday (August 28th) and will see headline performances from My Chemical Romance, The Strokes and Pulp, and Muse will close the festival. The festival has music kicking off from 11.00-11.30 each day.

Justin Bieber’s new record progressing well

Work is now well under way for Justin Bieber’s second record, and all reports coming out of the studio suggest it is progressing very well.

Justin is currently working with producers such as Tricky Stewart and last night the teen superstar tweeted,

“in the studio writing with @TrickyStewart – last time this happened a song called BABY happened. LEGGO. #believe,” Justin tweeted. “At the studio writing for my album with @trickystewart and @soundzdope follow them … #BELIEVE (sic).”

Justin Bieber has also been working with the likes of Kanye West and Chris Brown for the forthcoming album so the general consensus is that he will produce something very big.

Fans are hopeful that Justin Bieber will soon announce a new tour, although no dates have been confirmed as yet.

Bruno Mars confirmed to perform at MTV Video Music Awards 2011

Bruno Mars will perform at this month’s MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles.

The hit British R&B singer has been nominated for multiple awards at the ceremony, which takes place on August 28th. He is widely tipped to win Video of The Year for his single Grenade. Also performing will be Lil Wayne, Adele and Chris Brown.

Bruno Mars is set to embark on a short UK tour this autumn. Tour dates are:

Rihanna’s love life is a constant source of tabloid speculation it seems, and now rumour has it she has moved on from Drake and on to American teen idol Joe Jonas.

According to the Daily Star, a friend of Rihanna commented, “They met when Joe did a song with Rihanna’s ex Chris Brown and recently she’s been bombarding him with raunchy text messages. She keeps laughing to her mates that she wants to take him on the wildest ride of his life.”

The news of Rihanna’s new love interest comes before the singer will perform at this year’s V Festival, before embarking on a huge tour of the UK which sees her play at such venues as London’s O2 Arena and Manchester’s MEN Arena.

Jessie J has been announced as a guest act on David Guetta’s upcoming album.

The singer will perform on the track Repeat, taken from Guetta’s new record Nothing But The Beat, released on August 28th. Also appearing on the album are stars including Chris Brown, Flo Rida, Usher, Ludacris and Akon.

Jessie J is to embark on an extensive UK tour in October and November, with support coming from Devlin.

Chris Brown has officially released the video for his new single ‘Next to You’ featuring Justin Bieber.

The video was leaked online earlier this month and removed very quickly, it has now had it’s official release and can be watched online.

‘Next to You’ is Browns third single from his album ‘F.A.M.E’. The video was directed by Brown and Colin Tilly, it has been described as a ‘mini movie’ and features actress Shannon Elizabeth. Brown and Bieber sing and dance their way through a collapsing city desperately seeking their girlfriends.

The single is released on the 15th of August but can be downloaded now.

Chris Brown is playing in London in two nights on the 19th of June at the Susquehanna Bank Center.

Derren Brown’s tour ‘Svengali’ is a baffling and spooky psychological roller-coaster.

Expectedly we have been sworn to secrecy so not to spoil the show and unexpectedly i don’t think I could if I tried! A mind boggling array of ‘tricks’ to embarrass, surprise and entrance us to the extraordinary world of Derren Browns.

His energy is running at 99 as he darts around the stage, enthralled in the jokes, the ore and wonderment, this is not just any magic show – it makes Britain’s Got Talent couple look like your Granddad with a christmas cracker magic trick – Its phenomenal.

Essentially Svengali is split into two halves. The first being psychological tricks, displaying our predictability and Browns mental aptitude. We sit squirming with fear, dread and absolute relish at other peoples blushes. The second half is the spooky act where Brown moves from magician to minder moulder and we delve into the world of the occult (and the shows title) defying belief and baffling his audience.

Typically the ending leaves us all breathless and bewildered. This man is a genius or a wizard, either way incredible.

Rihanna forgives her Dad for abuse

R&B star Rihanna has forgiven her father for his abusive, drunken ways – because she understands he came from a terrible background.

The Umbrella singer and her dad Ronald Fenty have a fractured relationship because she still remembers walking in on him smoking crack and all the abusive incidents between her parents when he would come home drunk.

But she would still do anything for her father – because she accepts he’s just a product of his own violent upbringing.

She tells Rolling Stone magazine, “I actually feel really bad for my father. He was abused too – he got beat up by his stepdad when he was young. He has resentment toward women, because he felt like his mum never protected him, and unfortunately, my mother was the victim of that. I’m not giving him excuses. Right is right and wrong is wrong. I still blame him. But I understand the source.”

In the interview, Rihanna, who was badly beaten by then-boyfriend Chris Brown in 2009, recalls one savage attack at the hands of her father: “He slapped me so hard (and) I ran home with his handprint on me… This was out of nowhere.”

Britney Spears scores U.S number one

Britney Spears has scored her sixth US number one album with Femme Fatale.

The record – Spears’s seventh in total – sold 276,000 copies to top the tally, fending off competition from Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers, which shifted 197,000 units at number two.

The feat ties her with Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson for the third-most number one albums for a female artist, behind Barbra Streisand and Madonna.

However, the sales figure marks the singer’s second-lowest opening-week sales to date, ahead of her debut …Baby One More Time, which entered with sales of 121,000.

Elsewere, Adele’s 21 remains at number three, Chris Brown’s F.A.M.E dips from one to four, and charity record Songs For Japan completes the top five.

Other new entries arrived from Radiohead, who released the physical edition of latest effort The King Of Limbs, which enters at six; Snoop Dogg’s Doggumentary at eight, and Mary Mary’s Something Big at ten.

Jessie J plans year ahead

Jessie J has revealed in an interview that she wants to headline the O2 Arena by the end of the year. After coming top of the BBC’s Sound of 2011 list, Jess’s album ‘Who You Are’ was released a whole month before the scheduled release date due to popular demand.

“I wanna start charities up. I’m supporting Tinie Tempah at the Royal Albert Hall, I’d love to have my own TV show, I wanna have my own perfume. I wanna headline the O2 this year and I wanna little friend for my BRIT – a Grammy. Never say never”.

Jessie, who soon turns 23, has been honing her talents both on and off the stage. Having penned songs for Chris Brown and Lisa Lois (Holland’s X Factor winner), inspired the melody of major hit record Party In The USA performed by Miley Cyrus and collaborated with Justin Timberlake, she already has an impressive pedigree, despite only releasing her debut album in February.

She is another success from the BRIT School, along with Katy B and Adele.

Rihanna says Chris Brown assault has made her music edgy

Rihanna thinks that her music has benefited from her 2009 assault at the hands of ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

Speaking to Vogue magazine, the US singer claims that the incident gave her music an edge that it never had before, explaining: “It actually gave me a lot of liberation. What I mean is, I was able to tap into the personal part of my music. I started to tell stories through my music that were actually my stories.”

The star made history this month by becoming the youngest ever black woman to appear on the cover of Vogue.

Chris Brown cancels UK tour dates: Denied visa

Chris Brown has been forced to postpone his upcoming UK tour due to being denied a visa.

The tour was due to begin on Wednesday 9th June at Glasgow O2 Academy, but Brown was refused entry to the UK on the grounds of being guilty of a serious criminal offence. Chris Brown was sentenced to community service and counselling after assaulting former girlfriend Rihanna last year.

Fans with Chris Brown tickets have been advised to hold on to their tickets as it is hoped that all concerts will be rearranged.

Rihanna squashes autobiography rumours

Rihanna has ruled out releasing an autobiography any time soon. There have been rumours that the Barbados star was set to tell all about her life – particularly her vicious treatment by former boyfriend Chris Brown – but she has denied a deal. She said: ‘It would be a very long book, and it’s not in the plan right now.’

Rihanna: next album will be ‘more energetic’

Rihanna’s latest album ‘Rated R,’ was her darkest to date – and perhaps a reflection of her traumatic break-up with Chris Brown – but the Barbados star says that her follow-up will be more upbeat. She told MTV Korea: ‘I really like the bottom, the grime of [Rated R]. But if I were to combine that with more energetic, up-tempo pop records, then I think that will be a happy marriage. And that’s where we’ll probably go next.’

The 2009 Ladbrokes World Darts Championship is set to take place tomorrow (December 18) and Tixdaq can confirm that tickets are still available.

Alexandra Palace will be opening it’s doors to the biggest tournament in darts for the third year in a row and fans who have not yet secured their World Championship Darts tickets need to snap them up fast,

The first round draw was announced earlier this week and there are some mouth-watering ties scheduled for the opening day of the tournament. First round matches of World Darts Championship announced

The Ladbrokes World Darts Championship is only days away with the first darts being thrown on Friday December 18th.

Tickets to each day of the championship that runs until the final on January 3rd are still available via this website.

Alexandra Palace will be opening it’s doors to the biggest tournament in darts for the third year in a row. The original headquarters of the BBC is still the home of popular entertainment especially since it took over from the Circus tavern as a the venue for the PDC’s flagship event.

With £1m in prize money and £200,000 going to the winner, this tournament is the richest in the sports history and 72 players will be competing for a piece of the pie.

The first round draw has been made with reigning world champion Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor playing former BDO star Colin Monk. James Wade will face Steve Brown while Raymond Van Barneveld takes on Warren Parry.

Ladbrokes World Darts line-up confirmed for Alexandra Palace

The final line-up for the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship that takes place from December 18th to January 3rd in Alexandra Palace in London has finally been decided.

72 players from all around the world will compete for £1m in prize money – the richest event in the history of darts – and a first prize of £200,000.

14-time world champion Phil Taylor remains the man to beat though expect challenges from Raymond van Barneveld, James Wade, Mervyn King, John Part and Andy Hamilton.

The top 32 players from the PDC Order of Merit will all take part along with qualifiers from around the globe. One disappointment for the fans will be the omission of female darts star Anastasia Dobromyslova after she lost in the final of the Russian playoff tournament.

The Enemy and Lady GaGa play an exclusive gig

The Enemy perfomed at the Manchester Apollo on July 13 for the Orange RockCorps

Orange RockCorps organised a one-off show at the Manchester Apollo on July 13 as a way of saying thank you to the 3,000 volunteers who gave up four hours to work on community projects across Manchester.

Tom Clarke, lead singer of The Enemy, spoke of the band’s support for Orange RockCorps and the unique event, praising how the charity teaches young people the act of earning their rewards in life.

The Enemy mainly sang songs from their debut album We’ll Live And Die In These Towns, including the singles Had Enough, Away From Here and You’re Not Alone, dedicating the latter to Lady GaGa herself.

She followed The Enemy on stage, performing current single Paparazzi as well as Just Dance from the album The Fame.

Lady GaGa also spoke of her support for Orange RockCorps, saying that she got involved with the show because she wanted to help make the volunteers in the audience feel like stars, just as she dreamt of stardom herself when she was younger.

Fans of The Enemy and Lady GaGa can still catch them in action before the end of the year. They will both be at V Festival at Chelmsford Hylands Park and Shifnal Weston Park (August 22-23).

The Enemy will be touring the UK in November, playing venues like the Edinburgh Corn Exchange (November 10), Sheffield O2 Academy (November 12) and the London HMV Forum (November 19) before drawing the tour to a close at the Manchester Apollo (November 29).

Also on the bill at the Orange RockCorps gig were VV Brown, N-Dubz and Tinchy Stryder.

Fans of N-Dubz can buy tickets for their recently announced Christmas Party, playing shows at venues such as the University of East Anglia LCR (November 21), Bristol O2 Academy (November 22) and the London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire (December 10).

Tinchy Stryder is also going on tour, with shows scheduled at the Liverpool O2 Academy (September 19), Newcastle O2 Academy (September 20), Manchester Academy (September 29) and many more across the UK.

Coldplay knock Kings off their throne

This week, Coldplay have outsold their rivals and are sitting pretty atop the official UK Live Entertainment top twenty compiled by Tixdaq.. Previous chart toppers, Kings of Leon, were knocked off the top spot as more Coldplay tickets were sold in the last seven days than any other artist. Both Coldplay and Kings of Leon tours are trekking around the UK with little to separate them. Third place in the chart is a non-mover with the Take That tour being followed closely by Girls Aloud and The Killers to complete the top 5 UK concerts.

The rest of the top 10 sees support for rock concerts as the Oasis tour 2009, Stereophonics, Kooks and the Slipknot residency all feature in the top 10.

Tickets to see Chris Brown, Duffy, Barry Manilow and The Prodigy proved to be hot sellers and all climbed in the second half of the top 20. Meanwhile, Metallica, Cliff Richard and Snow Patrol concert tickets are all losing ground on their chart rivals.
