Coldplay entered the UK album chart at number one last week, with their latest record Mylo Xyloto. The success means that all five of Coldplay’s albums – including previous efforts Parachutes, A Rush Of Blood To The Head, X&Y and Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends – have reached number one in the UK charts.

Previous to its release, the band announced a short arena tour, and are set to perform three shows in December. The band will take to the stage at Glasgow SECC on Saturday 3rd December and Manchester MEN Arena on Sunday 4th, before their final show of the year at the O2 Arena.

The group delighted thousands of fans this summer, with headline performances at Glastonbury, T In The Park and Oxegen festivals, playing new material as well as a number of greatest hits, including songs such as Yellow, The Scientist and Fix You.

Lady Gaga looks set to dominate this year’s EMAs after picking up six nominations, including appearing on the shortlist for Best Pop Act and Best Female Act.

Lady GaGa is scheduled to make a number of UK appearances in the coming months, and it is widely expected that the singer will announce details of a 2012 tour in the coming weeks. As well as her appearance at the EMA’s, GaGa is scheduled to take to the stage at the BBC Children In Need Rocks Concerts at Manchester MEN Arena on 17th November. This year’s MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony will take place at Belfast Odyssey Arena on 6th November and will be hosted by US star Selena Gomez.

UK act Jessie J will appear at the show just days after completing her upcoming UK tour. Speaking about the event, the singer said, “I can’t quite believe I’m nominated for three awards. It’s like a dream, I keep pinching myself. And being nominated for Best UK/Ireland Act alongside artists like Adele, Coldplay, Kasabian and Florence is an honour.”

Jessie J tickets are available for performances throughout October and November, including two consecutive nights at London’s HMV Apollo.

The show will take place as part of the BBC Radio 1 Student Tour, and will be broadcast live on the station.

The band previously confirmed a short arena tour to take place across the UK this December, in support of the release of their new album, Mylo Xyloto. Coldplay tickets are available for concerts at Glasgow SECC, Manchester MEN Arena and London O2 Arena.

The show will take place on the 26th October, just two days after the release of the album.

Speaking about the show, the band’s frontman Chris Martin stated, “Until we can come to a video as good as Single Ladies by Beyonce, we have to rely on just the meat and vegetables of playing songs live, and this is just a nice way of doing it for a few more people at once.”

Organised by Take That singer Gary Barlow, the show will be hosted by Fearne Cotton, Chris Moyles and David Tennant and broadcast on BBC One and Radio 1 from 8pm-10pm on the day.

The concert will feature performances from Barlow himself, Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Michael Buble, Ed Sheeran, Elbow, N Dubz, James Morrison, Hugh Laurie, Snow Patrol and JLS.

Martin told a UK newspaper that the singer features on LP track Princess of China, taken from their fifth studio album, due to be released on 24th October.

When asked about the collaboration, Martin claimed, “She has such an amazing voice and it’s so different to mine.

“When the vocal happened I thought ‘Wow, you sound different’ but I think that’s also because she was singing a different song to what we are used to hearing from her and it is written by a bloke from Devon.”

Details of Coldplay tour dates are expected to be announced shortly, with the band rumoured to have lined up shows in early 2012.

Ashes is being directed by Mat Whitecross and will star Jim Sturgess and Ray Winstone. Jim Sturgess is also currently starring in One Day, and he told BBC Newsbeat about Coldplay’s involvement in Ashes: “It was amazing those guys helped us out with that film. I’m really proud of the film.”

Coldplay will also be releasing their new album Mylo Xyloto on October 24th. They will be performing at next month’s Austin City Limits Festival.

The album which was released on August 8th has now passed Coldplay’s record for most ITunes downloads in the first week of release. Watch The Throne sold 290,000 digital copies, surpassing Coldplays’ Viva La Vida or Death and all his Friends which sold a meagre 282,000.

The news doesn’t come as a great surprise with the previous landmarks achieved by both Kanye and Jay Z in the past. The duo will be touring the USA later this year and Kanye will also be playing at Austin’s City Limits Festival in September.

He commented, “I always feel like each record is our last, but at the moment I’m in the stage where I really mean it. I just can’t imagine how we would do another one, because we’ve thrown everything. When it’s finished, which hopefully should be pretty soon — it has to be pretty soon –we won’t have been able to put more work into it, which I guess is the only thing we can really do.”

This is upsetting news for Coldplay fans but these comments seem to be very much speculation and not hard truth.

The band were playing UCLA’s Tennis Centre, and Lindsay it seems hoped she could come backstage to join them but her pass didn’t allow her access to do so.

A source is reported to have told the Sun that “When Lindsay was told she wasn’t allowed backstage because her pass didn’t allow it, she threw a complete wobbler.”

A fan claims that the new record will be called Mylo Xyloto and wrote on the Coldplay forum.

“I’m a member of PRS and (as a member) you can search their online database of registered songs. I typed in Chris Martin and looked at all the newly registered work under ‘Christopher Anthony John Martin’ and a song called ‘Mylo Xyloto’ was registered on 6th July 2011!”

Coldplay fans have then picked up on this and claim that Mylo Xyloto will be the name of the new album although whether it will be or not remains to be seen.

Speaking to radio station Channel 94.1 she commented, “The premise of the video is that I’ve walked all the way from New York City to Nebraska to get [my boyfriend] back. I’m walking with no luggage, it’s just me and my ankles are kind of bleeding a little bit and there’s grass stuck in my shoes and I’ve got this outfit on – it’s real New York sort of clothing as it’s wooly.”

The album is set for release in the UK on the 24th October and is as yet untitled. The interesting news is that the album will come out a week after Noel Gallagher’s solo album is out (17th October) and so there will inevitably be a battle for the top spot.

Who will win is very much as yet uncertain but the week in October will see the release of two of 2011′s most anticipated albums.

It was once again another triumphant weekend at this year’s Oxegen Festival in Punchestown Ireland.

This year’s headliners were The Black Eyed Peas, The Foo Fighters and Coldplay. It seems that all the headliners this year delivered suitable sets of gigantic performances to the delight of the Irish crowd. The Festival itself was ended in true Irish fashion with a great Oxegen moment, as Christy Moore came on stage with Coldplay to perform Ride On which evoked a mammoth singalong from the masses.

The acts on display this year represented a much more equal balance between pop and rock, featuring the likes of Ke$ha, The Black Eyed Peas and Beyonce mixed with the usual suspects of The Strokes, The Arctic Monkeys and The Foo Fighters. The balance however seemed to go down very well, catering for everyone’s musical tastes and providing great music all round.

The Strokes, who many argue are the band that single-handedly saved indie, performed a classic set on the Friday of Oxegen and are also down to headline this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Saturday (June 8th) has headliners Foo Fighters supported by Arctic Monkeys and Beady Eye. Paolo Nutini and deadmau5 are top of the bill on the Vodafone stage while Brandon Flowers headlines the Heineken Green Spheres stage.

Closing the festival on Sunday night will be Coldplay, supported by Beyonce and Slash. On the vodafone stage, The National and Pendulum head the line-up, while Primal Scream and Chase & Status top the bill on the Heineken Green Spheres stage.

We are now just days away before the legendary T in the Park kicks off and to fuel your excitement for the Festival’s opening here is Fanatix’s top tips for who to go and see this weekend.

British Sea Power:  Famed for their quirky and idiosyncratic live show British Sea Power bring  an energy which leaves crowds rarely disappointed. A great indie singalong band who are playing the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Transmissions Stage on Friday evening they should not be missed.

Chase and Status: Expect guest appearances, orchestrated mayhem and a set of tunes which will set alight the Radio 1/NME Stage on the Saturday night. The band have been fine tuning their live show and now as the festival season is in full swing they have put themselves forward as top contenders with an electrifying display of dub-step intertwined with more mainstream influences.

Bright Eyes: Despite the fact they have a herd of dedicated cult fans behind them, Bright Eyes have often managed to escape the attention of mainstream success. It seems odd for a band who have so many great albums under their belt to have not gained a more populist following. Their live performances are a spectacle in themselves and they will provide a great alternative show for anyone who doesn’t fancy Beyonce or Coldplay on the Saturday night.

Foo Fighters: Forget any questions concerning the longevity of the new record, the Foo Fighters will inevitably provide the ultimate blow out as the Festival reaches it’s climax.

This coming weekend (July 8th-10th) sees T In The Park descend into Balado, Scotland. Latitude Festival arrives in Suffolk on July 15th, for three days of incredible music in one of the most relaxed festivals in the country. The weekend will see headline performances from The National (Friday 15th), Paolo Nutini (Saturday 16th) and Suede (Sunday 17th). Also appearing on the Obelisk Arena are Bright Eyes, Paloma Faith, The Cribs, My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas and Hurts. Headlining The Word Arena are Bombay Bicycle Club (15th), Foals (16th) and Eels (17th), with The Vaccines, Echo & The Bunnymen and Lykke Li also appearing.

Latitude Festival tickets for the weekend are currently selling for as little as £121.

On August 20th, V Festival kicks off in Chelmsford (Hylands Park) and Staffordshire (Weston Park). Headlining the two-day event are Eminem and Arctic Monkeys, with support from chart favourites such as Rihanna, Plan B, The Script, Kaiser Chiefs, Manic Street Preachers and Lostprophets. Pendulum and Dizzee Rascal headline the 4Music Stage, with Duran Duran and Chase and Status set to top the bill on The Arena Stage. The weekend is a favourite due to regularly world-class headliners and excellent atmosphere.

V Festival weekend tickets are selling from £200 for the Chelmsford event, and £190 for the Hylands Park weekend.

Both Reading Festival and Leeds Festival take place over the August bank holiday weekend, Friday 26th – Sunday 28th. Consistently having some of the best line-ups of the festival circuit has made the weekend a firm favourite of the summer. Headlining the main stage this year are Muse, My Chemical Romance and Pulp and The Strokes, with support coming from Elbow, Interpol, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Offspring, and Jimmy Eat World. The NME/Radio 1 Stage has headline sets from 2manydjs, Beady Eye and Jane’s Addiction, with The Streets, Death From Above 1979, White Lies, Noah and the Whale, Crystal Castles and Bombay Bicycle Club adding to the excellent line-up.

Reading festival tickets are currently on sale from as little as £135, while Leeds Festival tickets can be bought for £150.

Bestival is one of the summer’s latest festivals, but also one of the most critically acclaimed. Featuring a famous incredibly chilled-out atmosphere, the weekend is a frequent award winner, including best major UK festival in 2010. This year’s festival, taking place September 9th – 11th, features headliners Pendulum, The Cure and Primal Scream. Also at the Isle of Wight festival will be PJ Harvey, The Maccabees, Crystal Castle, Chromeo, Robyn, Public Enemy, Fatboy Slim and The Drums.

Yesterday, the band posted Major Minus, while today saw Moving to Mars unveiled on the internet. Both songs are to be released on the Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall EP. The EP is to be released on June 26th, the day after their headline slot on Glastonbury’s The Pyramid Stage. The EP will be released on vinyl on June 27th. As of yet, it is unknown whether either of these songs will appear on the bands’ forthcoming fifth album. For the last eighteen months, the band have been working with esteemed producer Brain Eno on the follow-up to critically acclaimed Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends.

Coldplay earlier showcased some new songs at the German festival Rock Am Ring earlier in the summer.

Featuring more than 700 acts across more than 30 stages, watched by more than 175,000 people, the festival is renowned worldwide for its great atmosphere and legendary performances.

This year’s Pyramid Stage headline performances come from U2 (Friday 24th), Coldplay (Saturday 25th) and Beyonce (Sunday 26th). Other acts on the infamous main stage include Morissey, Elbow, Laura Marling, Paolo Nutini and Biffy Clyro.

The Other Stage will be headlined by Primal Scream (Friday), The Chemical Brothers (Saturday) and Queens of the Stone Age (Sunday). Also playing the festival’s second stage will be Mumford & Sons, White Lies, Kaiser Chiefs, TV on the Radio, Fleet Foxes and Bright Eyes.

The John Peel Stage will see DJ Shadow (Friday), Glasvegas (Saturday) and The Streets (Sunday) headline. Other acts playing the stage named in honour of the legendary Radio 1 DJ include The Coral, Battles, Robyn, Noah and the Whale and Warpaint.

The huge festival has been running on and off since 1970, and this year is sure to live up to expectations. With a line-up nothing short of world-class, revellers and viewers at home will see some spectacular performances on stages big and small.

The performing arts festival, which takes place from Wednesday June 22nd until Sunday June 26th, will play host to over 700 acts and more than 175,000 people. Headlining this year will be U2, Coldplay and Beyoncé. Recent photos from the site reveal completion of all the stages, including new venue The Beat Hotel which will feature nightly DJs including Erol Alkan.

In other Glastonbury news, Wayne Rooney’s brother has announced their intention to go, following a message on twitter that read “Cnt wait 4 glasto with @Wayne Rooney. Boozeville yerrrrrrrrrrrrrr.” The Sun reports that this post was mysteriously deleted within minutes, however.

Final stage times for the festival were revealed this weekend, available on the official website. Performances will finish at 23.45 each night, apart from Sunday when licensing means performances will finish at 23.15.

In an effort to make the festival more environmentally friendly, organiser Michael Eavis has announced that more than 100,000 free recycled toilet rolls will be handed out to festival-goers. He said, “There will be more than enough for everyone and more importantly it will be the right kind of loo roll.” The news comes as part of a drive to boost recycling rates at the festival to 60%, from 49% last year. A recycling barn will also be present, staffed by 80 volunteers, for revellers to leave cans and other recyclable packages. The festival is taking place at the same time as Recycle Week. Worthy Farm, the site of the festival, has also become the UK’s largest privately owned solar power station, with the addition of more than 1000 solar panels.

Friday headliners U2 will be the victims of a tax protest aimed at highlighting the band’s alleged tax avoidance. Protesters Art Uncut will float a “huge bundle of fake cash” and hold up a large illuminated sign to say “Bono Pay Up.”

In a surprise phone call, Morissey, playing Friday, has asked to meet Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton. Revealing the news on Twitter, the footballer said, “Just had the best phone [call] of my life………..” In a separate tweet, he explained,”it was from Morissey’s personal security man asking if I would like to meet the great man @ Glastonbury? #heactuallyknowswhoiam”

The 29-year-old from Fulham will play to crowds on July 27th at Camden’s Roundhouse. The iTunes Festival lasts for 31 nights and features 62 bands, and is completely free. Other artists playing at the festival include Foo Fighters, Coldplay, Moby, Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian. It takes place from July 1st – July 31st.

Example’s third album, Playing in the Shadows, is to be released in September, before he plays a series of UK shows throughout the autumn. He released his first single from the album, Changed the Way You Kiss Me, on June 5th, which debuted at number 1 in the UK.

Beyonce has apparently been keen to perform at the festival since her husband Jay-Z performed in 2008. However his inclusion on the line-up sparked a lot of debate and Beyonce has been hesitant to cause such controversy again.  Co-Organiser, Emily Eavis, said Chris helped talk the pop sensation round “Chris is a bit wary of people knowing he’s been so involved. I dont’ know why because it’s actually cool. ”

Beyonce releases her album ’4′ next week. She performs at Glastonbury this weekend and T in the Park on July the 9th.

Arctic Monkeys will headline the festival on Wednesday July the 6th at Camden’s Roundhouse.

The festival spans 31 nights with the Arctic Monkeys joining Foo Fighters, Adele, Coldplay, Paul Simon, Moby, Friendly Fires, Duran Duran, The Wanted, Linkin Park and MANY more on the line-up.

Arctic Monkeys have just released their fourth album ‘Suck It and See’ which went straight in at number one in the album charts.  They have completed their USA promotional tour and returned to the UK for a summer of festivals and then their own UK Arena Tour.
