The festival will take place at Weston Park, Staffordshire and Hylands Park, Chelmsford on August 18th and 19th 2012. This year’s festival featured headliners Eminem and Arctic Monkeys, as well as great performances from Rihanna, Plan B, Pendulum, Dizzee Rascal and more. Next year’s is sure to be as incredible.

The hit indie-folk band, who recently released their acclaimed third album Last Night On Earth, will perform on September 21st. They close the summer of live music that has hosted bands including The Vaccines, Biffy Clyro, Friendly Fires, Mark Ronson, Tinie Tempah, Dizzee Rascal and 2manydjs.

Speaking to NME about the gig, frontman Charlie Fink said: “It’s something different for us and to be honest I don’t really know what to expect, but we’re very excited. I’ve never been to Ibiza before so I’m not quite sure what’s going to happen. We’re going to do our festival set which we’ve done at all the others. It’s got a lot of energetic numbers so hopefully people will get up and dance.”

The band will tour the UK this autumn.

In an interview with The Sun, the rapper of smash hit tracks including Bonkers and Dance wiv Me, told of some of the stars he would like on his upcoming fifth album: “I’d like to work with Kanye West and Andre 3000, but [Foo Fighters frontman] Dave Grohl is the one – I met him last year and he was really cool.”

He continued: “I’ve loved him since his Nirvana days. I love the way he carries himself. He refused to live in the shadow of Nirvana. He’s carved his own thing. I’d love to have him in the studio just to see how he views things.”

The rapper will be performing at V Festival next weekend.

The rapper reportedly launched a “foul mouthed tirade” at a stewardess, after the Portugal-bound flight from Heathrow was delayed. He was due to be on stage at a show in Portugal but as a result of his attack he had to cancel. His spokesman later said: “He was disappointed not to be able to perform.”

Rascal will be performing at V Festival in August.

Duran Duran were forced to pull out of the festival due to singer Simon Le Bon contracting laryngitis, which also caused them to cancel or reschedule most of their European tour. The band were due to headline The Arena stage, the third biggest stage of the festival.

Last night (June 5th), the official V Festival twitter, @vfestival, posted a message saying: “Duran Duran are no longer playing at V Festival, replacement artist to be announced tomorrow on vfestival.com.” Updates will follow with the revised line-up.

Tinie Tempah picked up one of the prestigous awards for Pass Out as the best contemporary song: ” We’re here picking up Ivor Novellos. It doesn’t really get any better and this goes to show the music does work” ” People get the music and the theme is embraced and understood by people outisde of that world, outside of hip-hop and underground music world, so this is clearly here to stay.”

Dizzee Rascal, virtually a veteran in comparison also picked up one of the converted awards, he was given the Inspiration award.  He imparted his pearls of wisdom on british domestic songwriters: “Just shows the country is ready for this music” ” It’s a good thing and I am loving it and it’s for songwriting as well.”

According to The Sun, Dizzee – who is currently preparing to start work on his fifth album – has developed a penchant for the works of William Blake, John Keats, Byron and Wordsworth.

Apparently the ‘Bonkers’ star hoped brushing up on the wordsmiths would help improve his rapping skills: “Dizzee hopes reading poetry will broaden his horizons and make him an even better rapper. He knows he has to push himself to make a great fifth album and reading accomplished poets can only help.”

Meanwhile, the East London star was recently confirmed to be playing Barcelona’s Sonar Festival.

Dizzee Rascal, real name Dylan Mills, has held talks with Inbetweeners creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris about a sitcom based around his own life.

The creators of one of the most popular sitcoms in years apparently feel that Dizzee is ‘a big personality with loads of charisma’ and the duo think he would be the ideal subject for the show

A source said: “Damon and Iain like the idea of making a funny show about a rapper. Urban artists are usually portrayed in negative or bleak circumstances but they want to do something different. It’s just a question of whether or not he has the acting ability to pull it off”.

Dizzee has previously stated that he’d love to be the first black James Bond. With Lily Allen ditching music for fashion, Mills could be the next star to quit music to forge a new career.

Perhaps a festival aimed more at the younger generation of festival goers, the Reading and Leeds festival boasts a huge line-up that can surely compete with that of Glastonbury. Blink 182, The Libertines, Guns N’ Roses, Arcade Fire, Dizzee Rascal and Cypress Hill will all be appearing on the main stage throughout the weekend.

Expect to pay around £230 on the secondary ticket market for a weekend ticket with camping to either Reading or Leeds. Hop Farm Festival tickets:

Hop Farm Festival may not be the most talked about festival of the summer, but it will this year play host to the likes of Bob Dylan, Pete Doherty, Van Morrison, Laura Marling and Seasick Steve. The festival takes place in Tonbridge this July and is probably the cheapest alternative to Glastonbury this summer.

Day tickets cost around £45 each, with camping tickets costing £25 on top of that.

Gorillaz tickets:

Although not exactly a festival alternative, Gorillaz will be touring the UK in September on the back of their Glastonbury headline appearance. The band will be appearing at venues such as Glasgow SECC, Birmingham NIA, Newcastle Metro Radio Arena, Manchester MEN Arena,London O2 Arena and Dublin O2 Arena.

Gorillaz support acts for the September UK tour are yet to be announced, but expect some big names after appearances from Bobby Womack, De La Soul, Shaun Ryder and Super Furry Animals songwriter Gruff Rhys at the band’s Roundhouse shows in April. Ticket prices start at around £40.

The full Glastonbury line-up was announced today, and as expected, the festival will showcase a host of huge names from the world of music. The festival’s 40th anniversary will see Muse, U2 and Stevie Wonder headline the infamous Pyramid Stage, with acts such as Snoop Dogg, Dizzee Rascal, Jack Johnson, The Flaming Lips, Pet Shop Boys,  Hot Chip and the XX also set to appear across the weekend.

Mark Ronson also said that his new record will be even be superior to Amy Winehouse’s seminal album ‘Back to Black,’ which he had a hand in producing. The ‘Record Collection’ is due to hit shelves in July, under the name ‘Mark Ronson and the Business.’
