The letter is lead by the largest online Jackson forum, MJJCommunity, but has the support of 35 other fan forums. They cite reasons such as adding Kiss to the bill and quickly removing them due to lead singer Gene Simmons calling Jackson a child-molester, and the fact that the concert is due to take place at the same time as the trial of Jackson’s former doctor Conrad Murray for the manslaughter of the singer.

An excerpt from the statement says: “We, as Michael Jackon’s staunch supporters and advocates, refuse to support the Michael Jackson Forever Tribute, planned by Global Live Events in October, 2011. Even with the withdrawal of your most recent performer, Gene Simmons/Kiss, fans feel the damage has already been done. Your apology is too little, too late, and does not solve the problems we have with this tribute.”

It continues: “From the timing of this tribute, in the middle of Dr. Murray’s trial, to the ticketing prices, to the obscurity over what charities will be receiving the donation, to the no-guarantee policy of performers, the addition of Gene Simmons and dishonoring, thus tarnishing Michael Jackson’s legacy was simply the last straw. With the damage done, it will be the fans who work hard to overcome this debacle for Michael Jackson’s legacy.”

The line-up for the concert currently includes Christina Aguilera, JLS, Leona Lewis and Cee Lo Green, and is set to take place in Cardiff on October 8th.

Depeche Mode were back on the road after frontman Dave Gahan recovered from an operation to remove a tumour from his bladder.

Depeche Mode performed in Leipzig, Germany last night, which was the date the band announced they would return to the stage after doctors ordered Dave Gahan to rest.

Cancelled shows due to Dave Gahan’s illness are due to be rescheduled at a later date, where tickets purchased will remain valid.

Dave Gahan fell ill in Athens, Greece in early May suffering from gastroenteritis whilst on the Depeche Mode Tour Of The Universe after the April release of the album Sounds Of The Universe.

After last night’s show in Leipzig, Dave Gahan declared ”I’m grateful to the fans for showing their support and thankful to my family, friends and all of the doctors who looked after me so well. Being back onstage is an incredible feeling and I’m looking forward to each and every show.”

Depeche Mode fans who missed out on seeing them live this Summer will be pleased to hear that tickets are still available for the Depeche Mode tour in December this year.

Depeche Mode will be performing at the major UK arenas, like two dates at the London O2 Arena (December 15 & 16) before drawing the tour to a close at the Manchester Evening News Arena (December 18).
