Summer Series concludes this weekend

The Summer Series of outdoor concerts draws to a close this weekend.

So far, the Series has seen artists including Eels, Imelda May and Blondie perform in the spectacular setting of London’s Somerset house, in the heart of the capital next to the Thames.

This weekend will see Ellie Goulding take to the stage tonight (July 15th), Lamb perform tomorrow (July 16th), and My Morning Jacket are to close the festival on Sunday (17th).

A limited number of extra tickets have been released for Ellie Goulding’s upcoming concert at London’s Somerset House.

The singer-songwriter will perform in the beautiful grounds of Somerset House on Friday July 15th – one of just a small handful of UK dates for her this summer. Somerset House is nestled in the heart of London between the River Thames and The Strand, and will be the venue for Goulding’s only non-festival show. The 24-year-old singer is aiming to release her second album this year, the follow-up to chart topping debut Lights.

As well as the Somerset House show, Goulding will perform at Wakestock Festival, Lounge On The Farm Festival and V Festival.

Ellie Goulding says she is usually well behaved but like everyone has her vices.

The songstress confessed that whilst she looks after herself and goes ‘to the gym everyday and I run, row and do weights’ and also drink ‘lots of green tea and water in the day’ she definitely has her vices ‘ I love alcohol, especially cocktails’. She says ‘it’s like I’m either really good or really bad’ .

Jessie J picked up ‘Woman of Tomorrow’ award at the Glamour Awards last night.

Showing off a new glamorous look (in keeping with the awards) Jessie picked up her award alongside Adele who picked up ‘UK Solo Artist Of The Year’.

Spotted at the event were The Saturdays, Ellie Goulding, Fearne Cotton and Alexandra Burke.

Jessie J is supporting Katy Perry on the US stint of her ‘ California Dreams’ World Tour.

Razorlight in ‘Big Busk’

Razlorlight performed a free gig for folk in central London, Covent Garden, yesterday.

To celebrate 20 years of the Big Issue the band performed a ‘Big Busk’. Ellie Goulding did the second slot today in Trafalga Square.

The impromptu gigs are part of a series of free “Big Busks” by well known artists scheduled to take place across the UK throughout the year. With who and where the next one takes place is anyones guess, it all comes down to being in the right place at the right time!

The Big Issue have teamed up with Get Load In The Park with Razlorlight will headline on the 12th of June and should preview some of their new material from the forthcoming album.

Ellie Goulding has spoken of her pride at performing for guests at the dinner party thrown by the Queen after the royal wedding.

The singer-songwriter performed tracks including her version of Elton John’s ‘Your Song’.

Goulding told The Telegraph: “It was an amazing honour to be asked by Kate and William to perform at their party. The atmosphere was incredible and it is a night I will never forget.”

Ellie Goulding has been confirmed to play for Prince William and Kate Middleton and their guests at the Royal Wedding reception tomorrow, Friday 29th April.

Much speculation had surrounded the identity of the possible performers at The Royal Wedding, and the BBC Sound Of 2010 winner has now been announced to provide the entertainment.

The singer, who released her debut album, Lights last year, will perform at the after dinner party at Buckingham Palace.

The Vaccines have been added to the line-up of this year’s Lounge On The Farm Festival.

The event, which takes place on July 8-10 at Merton Farm in Canterbury, is being headlined by The Streets, Ellie Goulding and Echo And The Bunnymen.

The festival organisers like to keep the event ‘non conformist’, promoting acts from Kent as well as the growing list of big names that are now attracted to the festival. The festival has so far been held four times.

Other acts set for this year are Katy B, Example and Graham Coxon.

A number of new acts have been added to this year’s V Festival line-up. The event is set to take place on August 21st and 22nd in both Chelmsford and Shifnal, and will be headlined by Arctic Monkeys and Eminem, with support from Rihanna and Plan B.

Gary Barlow celebrates 40th birthday in front of star-studded audience

Take That’s Gary Barlow last night celebrated his 40th birthday in style, performing a charity show in London in front of a star-studded audience. The singer was joined on stage at London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and pop star Ellie Goulding, amongst others. Celebrities such as Lulu, David Walliams, Kimberley Walsh and James Corden were also in attendance.

Elton John was seen on screen leaving Barlow a birthday message, as was fellow Take That member Robbie Williams. Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald joined Barlow on stage for a rendition of the band’s hit single, Shine, to finish the show.

The concert was Gary Barlow’s first solo performance in over a decade, ahead of the upcoming Take That Progress Live tour. Take That will be performing a series of outdoor shows this summer, with 29 dates confirmed in Sunderland, Manchester, Cardiff, Glasgow, Dublin, Birmingham and Dublin.

Eminem, Muse and Kasabian are set to headline this year’s T in the Park festival. The official line-up has just been revealed and it’s looking like a mouthwatering one, with the likes of Jay-Z, Florence & The Machine and Vampire Weekend also on the bill. Ellie Goulding received the Critics Choice award at the BRIT Awards last night. She was presented with the award by Courtney Love, who praised the newcomer’s talent. Goulding beat the likes of Delphic and Marina & the Diamonds to the award, which last year was won by Florence & the Machine.

‘Well this is mental,’ the Hereford-born star said. ‘I just wanna say thank you so much to the critics who gave me this award.’

Dizzee Rascal joins Bestival line-up

Dizzee Rascal is in line for a performance at Bestival 2010. He joins the likes of Ellie Goulding, Hot Chip and Rolf Harris for the September 9-12 bash, which takes place at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight. Before the September festival, Dizzee Rascal will be touring the UK throughout February and March. He is set to visit a number of top venues across the UK including Doncaster Dome (February 27), Brighton Centre (March 2), MEN Arena (March 5) and the O2 Arena in London on March 7.

Ellie Goulding has announced details of a new three-date UK tour this June. The summer tour kicks off at ABC in Glasgow on June 7th, before visits to Manchester’s Academy 2 (June 8th) and Shepherds Bush Empire (June 9th).

Ellie Goulding reveals inspiration

Ellie Goulding has revealed how Frankmusic inspired her musical career and helped her diversify from just playing guitar. The hotly-tipped singer songwriter told NME.com how meeting with the musician (real name Vincent Frank) led to her current musical direction.

After listening to a couple of her demos, Frankmusic agreed to a collaboration with Goulding. They produced ‘Wish I Stayed’ together, which was very much a breakaway from her sound until then. As she told NME.com, hearing her new sound led her down a different direction: ‘He made me realise just because I play guitar I didn’t have to be a folk singer.’

Ellie Goulding, one of the artists tipped to make it in 2010, has recently revealed details of her debut album. The British singer, who is set to pick up the Critics’ Choice Award at next month’s Brit Awards ceremony, has confirmed that the album will be released on March 1.

Before releasing the album, it is reported that Ellie Goulding will release the single ‘Starry Eyed’ on February 22.
