Guitarist Slash rejects Glee approach

Former Guns N Roses guitarist Slash has rejected an approach from television show Glee to use one of the band’s hit songs. The rock star did not hold back with his feelings towards the show:

“Glee is worse than Grease and Grease is bad enough. I look at Grease now and think between High School Musical and Glee, Grease was a work of art.”

Guns N Roses songs have recently been used in computer game, Guitar Hero, but it appears that the hit US show is a step too far for Slash.

With or without Guns N Roses songs, the cast of the show will be embarking on their first ever UK tour in 2011, with performances scheduled in London, Manchester and Dublin. Glee tickets are on sale now for live shows taking place throughout June and July 2011.

Tickets for Grease The Musical are available at up to 50% off the original price for shows running until April 2011. Dress Circle tickets are available from £22, whilst stalls tickets are available from £26.

Based on the hit film, Grease The Musical features all of the original characters and classic songs such as Summer Nights, You’re The One That I Want and Grease Is The Word.

The production will be showing at The Piccadilly Theatre, London until August. Grease tickets are on sale now for all remaining shows.

Iggy Pop planning new material

Iggy Pop says he and The Stooges are planning to record new material following his upcoming tour dates. The rockstar told Billboard: [James Williamson] is already on me like a greased cat. He’s sending me riffs, so I did some vocals to them and it’s starting to sound like something.’

Iggy Pop is set for two massive dates in the UK this spring. Iggy Pop is set to play two nights at London’s HMV Apollo (May 2 and 3), before setting off again on his European tour. Tickets for all of Iggy Pop’s UK shows are available through Tixdaq.com.

Heart FM DJ joins Grease cast

Heart FM DJ Toby Anstis has joined the West End production of the smash-hit musical Grease. Toby Anstis, making his West End debut, will join the cast as ‘Teen Angel’ for a limited season from now until the March 20th at London’s Piccadilly Theatre. Anstis, formerly a presenter of Live & Kicking, presents the weekday mid-morning show on Heart and pulls in over 3.4 million listeners across the UK.

The cast of Grease will be set for a number of performances at London’s Piccadilly Theatre throughout 2010 and tixdaq.com can confirm that hundreds of tickets are still available.

High School Musical 2 takes to the british stage

The musical production team behind High School Musical Live on Stage! are planning a new stage version of the TV movie sequel, ‘High School Musical 2.’ The much anticipated show will launch in the UK at London’s Wimbledon Theatre in August 2009.

The production is currently already selling tickets up until January 2nd, 2010, with further dates due to be announced for 2010.

The stage production is expected to be directed by Jeff Calhoun, who has been involved in the Broadway production of Grease and Big River and the US and UK stage versions of High School Musical Live On Stage!

First broadcast in September 2007, the Disney Channel’s ‘High School Musical 2′ has been viewed by over 273 million people worldwide. .

The tour will commence at Wimbledon New Theatre, beginning performances Aug 22 for a run to Sept 5, then continue to Plymouth’s Theatre Royal (Sept 7 & 12), Sheffield’s Lyceum (Sept 14 & 19), Oxford’s New theatre (Sept 21 & 26), Manchester’s Opera House (Sept 28 & Oct 10), Brighton Centre (Oct 15 & 18), Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre (Oct 20 & 24), Southampton’s Mayflower (Oct 26 & Nov 7), Leeds’ Grand Theatre (Nov 9 & 14), Belfast’s Opera House (Nov 16 & 21) and Birmingham’s Alexandra (Dec 15 & Jan 2).

High School Musical 2 will undoubtedly be yet another theatregoer favourite along with other West End theatre tickets such as Blood Brothers, Oliver, The Sound of Music, Mamma Mia, Jersey Boys, Blue Man Group, We Will Rock You, Enjoy and of course the ever popular West End musical Billy Elliot.

Snow brings down West End Theatre Curtain

English National Opera was the first company to announce that its evening performance of La Boheme had been called off, while the Royal Opera House soon took the same decision, with tonight’s performance of Die tote Stadt also cancelled.

Now scores of plays and musicals have followed suit. Confirmed cancellations so far include: Mamma Mia!, Jersey Boys, Les Miserables, Oliver!, Avenue Q, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Complicit, Grease, Carousel, Be Near Me, Hairspray, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Wicked, Sunset Boulevard, The Sound of Music, Billy Elliot – The Musical, Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage, Gethsemane, On The Waterfront, The Phantom Of The Opera, Private Lives, Twelfth Night, Stomp, The Mousetrap and We Will Rock You.

Further cancellations are expected and theatregoers are advised to contact theatres before starting out on their journey.

Theatre fans with tickets for tonights performances are bound to be disappointed to be missing out on what is an increasing popular night out on the West End. Fear not however many West End Theatre Tickets remain available for 2009 and are available from as little as £12.
