The band also told of their plans for the folllow-up album to 2009′s ‘Only Revolutions’, saying that their new album will consist of two records called; ‘The Land At The End Of Our Toes’ and ‘The Sand At The Core Of Our Bones’. Speaking about the conecpt behind the release, Drummer Ben Johnston told NME; “We don’t want to pigeon hole it as a ‘big rock album’, so we’re trying to make a diverse collection of songs”.

“We want to stop off in towns not usually heavily toured by bands, and celebrate the people, food and music that inhabit them. We’re keen to promote the town’s local businesses, and we’ll be using the local bars and venues for aftershow parties, whilst working closely with the local people to get everyone involved in making these shows spectacular.

“There will be a host of our friends playing too …. It should be a whole lot of fun.”

Speaking to Digital Spy, Suggs said: “It’ll definitely come out next year – hopefully we’ll finish it this year. We were hoping to get it done but then we decided to postpone the whole thing because we weren’t completely satisfied with what we’ve done so far.”

He continued: “We’re working on it and I think that’s the thing… when you’re young you have all the time in the world. We don’t spend 24 hours a day working on music like we used to when we were younger, so you have to do it in batches – sporadic, intense.”

Currently the internet is alive with rumours that Radiohead will announce a new tour and the Basement session, as well as their American  talk show appearance next month, both seem to suggest a tour will come sooner rather than later.

The band were playing the main stage at the Chicago Festival, at which all main stage performances are translated to sign language. Whilst playing classic song Romantic Rights, Grainger left his drum kit, climbed to where the translator was signing, and sang to her while she translated. The performance can be watched below.

Spinner reports that he told her after the song: “You looked lonely over there. If we had another drummer I’d come back, but I can’t… I’m staying at the Hard Rock, so look me up. I got a whole lotta signs, if you know what I’m saying, and none of them say ‘Stop’.”

The NME reports that lead singer Wayne Coyne said of the incident, “The Oklahoma wind and rain was a little bit more unpredictable than we had hoped, and we had a bad gust. The whole thing is shambolic and a bit dangerous and we’re working to get as much off of the stage before we get hit with the second wave.”

Coyne told fans over Twitter that the gig was cancelled and also posted on the site that he thought he was going to die, but reports confirm that nobody was injured.

The Flaming Lips will be playing Portland on September 20th, and fans are hopeful that the gig will go ahead without any problems.

Bell was run out on the stroke of tea on the third day of the second Test at Trent Bridge after incorrectly assuming the ball had gone ‘dead’.

Although the England batsman, who’d then made 137, was not seeking to gain an extra run, India were well within their rights to run him out and, after several minutes of confusion, Bell was eventually dismissed.

But India sportingly withdrew the appeal during the interval, following an approach by England, and the jeers of the crowd when the tourists returned turned to cheers when they saw Bell coming out to resume his innings.

Bell eventually made 159 in a match England won by a crushing 319 runs with more than a day to spare as they went 2-0 up in the four-match series.

Many former players said Bell had been in the wrong, with West Indies fast bowling great Michael Holding adamant the batsman should not have been reprieved having taken it upon himself to assume the functions of an umpire.

India batsman Rahul Dravid said afterwards the thought of ‘what if it had been one of us?’ had played a key role in the withdrawal of the appeal and Flower insisted: “You should consider what their reaction would have been if the England side had run out an Indian player like that.

“I’m not convinced there wouldn’t have been uproar.

“If an England side had done that in Mumbai (India star Sachin Tendulkar’s home town), I think there would have been a proper international incident on the cards,” the former Zimbabwe batsman added.

“I don’t think that’s being overly dramatic.”

Flower, who accepted Bell made a mistake, and England captain Andrew Strauss both approached India, whose coach Duncan Fletcher, like Flower a former Zimbabwe international, was previously in charge of England, to try to get the appeal rescinded.

“We didn’t think sitting in our changing room and fuming quietly to ourselves was going to do any good,” Flower explained. “We thought communicating like that would be the way to go.”

India’s withdrawal was hailed in some quarters as a triumph for the ‘spirit of cricket’ and ‘common sense’.

“I think this was one of those incidents where that rule (common sense) should be applied,” Flower added. “I think he (Bell) used the word ‘naive’ and that’s probably accurate. He was certainly innocent.

“One of the factors that has not been discussed much is that the fielder’s (Praveen Kumar’s) body language, after stopping the ball, indicated that it was four because he showed no urgency in returning the ball to the wicketkeeper.

“His whole body language gave the message to Bell that it was four.

“So I do have sympathy for Bell, because the tacit message implied by the body language of the fielder was that it was four, but in no way was the fielder duping Bell.”

England will replace India at the top of the ICC’s Test Championship table if they maintain or better a 2-0 lead in this four-match series, with victory in the third Test at Edgbaston, starting on August 10, assuring them of the number one position.

However, Flower said: I would like to emphasise right now — and we’ve done the same in our dressing-room — that we’re ahead in the series but we’re only halfway through the series.

“There is no point in triumphalism. We don’t even know if we’re going to win the series yet.”

The singer, made famous for her songs such as Rabbit Heart and Dog Days Are Over, is currently in the studio with her band and has revealed some interesting news about how they work.

She told the Daily Star, “Everyone – the whole band – gets dressed for work, puts on their big robe, and comes down to the studio. I love seances, witchcraft, heaven and hell, voodoo, gospel, possession, demons, exorcism and all that stuff. I’m not a religious person. Sex, violence, love, death, are the topics that I’m constantly wrestling with, it’s all connected back to religion.”

This rather interesting comment shows that the the next album with continue her themes of rather unusual lyrics, but fans are hopeful that she can maintain her amazing song-writing craft on the next record.

Music magazine NME reports that festival founder Stuart Galbraith has considered both Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers for next year’s shows: “They’re both two that we’re talking to, amongst a whole list of others. I also think we could have Green Day and Blink-182 here, but none of those are confirmed.

The band’s set featured a two minute silence dedicated to Gray which was honoured by the crowd of thousands, a gesture much appreciated by lead singer Corey Taylor.

The band’s eighth studio album will be the follow-up to the 2009 record Wilco, and reports suggest it will be released in September. The name was announced by frontman Jeff Tweedy in an interview with Massachusetts radio station WRSI. The band showcased two new songs thought to be on the album when curating their Solid Sound Festival in Massachusetts – Born Alone and Dawned On Me. Wilco are touring the UK this October, including two dates at London’s Roundhouse.

With a first-night audience that included comedians Michael McIntyre and Frank Skinner, actress Dame Judy Dench and chat show host Graham Norton, the show began later than scheduled to do road-closures as a result of the fire, but that was the only hiccup in an otherwise highly-acclaimed performance. Speaking to The Sun, brother Dan Hawkins revealed, “I pleaded with him about his health. If he had carried on the way he was going he would not be here today. It was bad. It was like Justin had this big red button he was itching to press which would kill him.” In 2006 the lead singer was treated for cocaine and alcohol abuse at the London’s infamous The Priory rehab clinic, at the same departing the rock four-piece.

The Darkness frontman revealed he had suffered as a result of the prolonged drug use. ”By the end I was fat, bloated and useless…My whole focus was to get the gig over with so I could get smashed.”

The improvement in his health and attitude was evident this weekend, almost five years since the singer last took drugs or alcohol. During their an impressive show at Download Festival, appearing before headliners Def Leppard, Justin Hawkins told fans, ”Tonight is already the best night of my life, thank you.” It was their first performance at a festival since mid-2004.

The festival will take place this weekend in Newport, from 10th to 12th June, and is headlined by Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters and Kasabian. Indie Folk man Samuel Beam of Iron & Wine has confirmed he will play two nights in London In October.

The first night will be an acoustic set on the 9th of October at Hackney Empire. As an added treat singer-pianist Marketa Irgova from folk-rock band The Swell Season will join him on stage.

The second gig, the following night on the 10th October at O2 Shepherds Bush Empire will see the whole band playing.

Roach has been a little critical of his fighter’s focus in recent training sessions as the Filipino has won a seat in his national congress. But it seems as though Pacquiao has put the Las Vegas showdown at the top of his priorities.

“This is the best start we’ve ever had to a training camp,” Roach told reporters at his Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California. “His focus has been great the whole way through.

“It’s probably one of the least distracted we’ve ever been in training camp and he’s doing great. He’s concentrating on the fight, he’s not taking this guy lightly at all and he’s right where I want him to be.”

PETA, which stands for ‘People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’, started the campaign under the slogan ‘Canada’s Club Scene Sucks’. The Stooges frontman and the ‘We R Who We R’ star have appeared on posters speaking out against Canada’s annual baby seal slaughter.

Canada is a week away from the peak Spring period of the seal hunting season.

PETA have been protesting the annual hunt for years. Last year the season was cut short because demand for seal pelts had dropped.

Kesha’s poster says that not only is the hunt cruel but ‘it wastes millions of tax dollars’, and Iggy Pop’s gets straight to the point: “Clubbing baby seals is sick and gives Canada a black eye. Don’t let the greed of a few tarnish the image of the whole country.”

Dave Grohl told LA Weekly that the band decided to completely destroy the original analog tape the album was recorded on – and then give it out to the fans: “We recorded the record in my garage to analogue tape, and probably wound up with 20-30 reels of tapes. At the end of the session I thought it would be an extraordinary move to destroy all the masters and give the pieces of the tapes to the fans.”

When asked if fans would be able to hear anything on the tape, Grohl responded: “They’d probably get one note, or one drumbeat. I mean, the pieces of tape are like an inch by an inch piece of tape. We chop it up into a million pieces…if a million people got together and put it back together, they’d get a whole album.”

Grohl added his reason for destroying the master, stating he wished to “prove a point to everybody to show how intangible a real tape can be.”

“I thought, let’s chop it up into a million pieces, and give it to the people who buy the album so they can hold it in their hands and see it.”

“There was elements of Born This Way during our collaboration [with director Nick Knight] and, as much as I loved it, there were moments where, for me, it didn’t really evolve as I had inspired of the actual creative, which was still fine,” she explained. “But when we got to Judas, it was very clear to me and the inspiration was very clear to her.”

The American star says he created Scarlet Fever as a character who is present throughout the whole of the album. He has compared the relationship running through his album to that of Ace and Ginger in Martin Scorsese’s seminal gangster movie Casino.

“There was a character who I had written – her name was Scarlet Fever – which was my love interest throughout the mini-movie Lady Killer and Love Gun was her way of saying that she has been affected by me,” he said. “Just imagine Ace Rothstein and Ginger from the movie Casino; Ginger was Ace’s Scarlet. So Scarlet was my character, the one I was smitten by who was anything that a gangsta could want, but she was also the liability.”

Casino tells the story of Sam ‘Ace’ Rothstein, played by Robert De Niro – a top gambling handicapper who is called by the Mob to oversee the day-to-day operations at a casino in Las Vegas. Sharon Stone plays Ginger, Ace’s self-obsessed and devious wife in the film.
