The singer was recently forced to postpone US tour dates due to illness, and has been advised not to perform live until her UK shows next month. Adele will perform rescheduled shows at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, Blackpool Winter Gardens, Bournemouth International Centre, Cardiff Motorpoint Arena and Plymouth Pavilions throughout November.

According to a show source the song choices will allow the contestants to “show their vulnerable side” before the first public vote.

The singer was the clear favourite going into last night’s ceremony, after previously winning the award back in 2001. Harvey beat the likes of Adele, Tinie Tempah, Katy B, James Blake and Elbow to the prize, regarded as one of the highest honours in the music industry.

On accepting the award, she stated “It’s really good to be here this evening, because when I last won 10 years ago I was in Washington DC watching the Pentagon burning from my hotel window.

“So much has happened since then. This album took me a long time to write. It was very important to me. I wanted to make something meaningful, not just for myself but for other people, and hopefully to make something that would last.”

PJ Harvey will follow tonight’s event with two back-to-back performances at London’s Royal Albert Hall in October. PJ Harvey tickets are on sale now.

He revealed that he has been writing new songs with James Williamson who played with The Stooges on their 1973 album Raw Power. Iggy revealed to RollingStone.com, “We started trading stuff by MP3 back and forth as soon as we started. We actually did get together this spring. He came to my house in Miami and we wrote 10 things. I think we like about half of them.”

Fans of Iggy Pop are also hopeful that he will support any new material with a tour of the UK although no touring plans have been confirmed as of yet.

In an interview with Radio 1′s Hugh Stevens, James Blake revealed that the collaboration came about after he met with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon at  South By South West in Texas. Bon Iver will be touring the UK this Autumn and tickets for these forthcoming shows are still available online.

The band were nominated for their critically acclaimed second album, The English Riviera, which was released in April. They compete against artists including PJ Harvey, Adele and James Blake. In an interview with SpinnerMusic, frontman Joe Mount questioned the award’s purpose: “They made this thing to help give coverage to bands or acts that were deserving of it but weren’t getting it. Adele obviously has to be included, because she’s having this incredible year. But the award for her is totally useless. You win £20,000 and you get loads of publicity. She really doesn’t need it.”

He continued: “She might be deserving of it. If no one had heard of her then she would be the perfect person to give it to, but everyone’s heard of her. The idea is that you give it to a band or an act that really needs the coverage, and maybe needs the money as well.”

The award will be announced on September 6th. Metronomy will embark on a UK tour, playing many intimate venues, on September 21st.

Headlining Green Man’s main stage tonight are rockers Explosions In The Sky who will be sure to provide the ultimate blow out to the first night of the festival. Acts playing during the rest of the weekend include Noah and the Whale, Laura Marling and James Blake.

Also performing tonight, at the Green Man Pub stage, is Ben Howard who many are currently tipping to become very big in the near future. He will be bringing his delightful blend of acoustic brilliance to Green Man and he offers a more mellow alternative to Explosions In The Sky.

In a message on Twitter, acclaimed electronic artist and singer Blake posted: “24th August 2011 – James Blake & Bon Iver ‘Fall Creek Boys Choir’”. It is thought that Fall Creek Boys Choir could be the name of the project the two collaborate on, with the words Fall Creek coming from the name of the town where Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon owns a recording studio. Currently it is unknown whether the project will be a one-off track, album or more of a long-term venture, but more information is expected to be released on August 24th.

Bon Iver are set to play rare shows in the UK this October, with shows in London, Edinburgh, Manchester and Birmingham.

However fans did not respond well to this, as they see her policy of starving before photo shoots to be a bad example.

Despite such strong odds, the Mercury Music prize always seems to serve up surprises and James Blake has to be a strong contendor with his slice of dub-step transformed into a beautifully melancholic package of pianos and minimalism. Blake’s odds are currently 13/2 but have gone up in the past week from 12/1 at one stage, so he could well make a late charge to victory.

The two-day festival sees headline sets from Judas Priest (Saturday 23rd) and Dream Theater (Sunday 24th). Artists also appearing over the weekend include Slash, Black Country Communion, Thin Lizzy, Thunder, Barclay James Harvest, and Jethro Tull. Judas Priest, Dream Theater will be performing their only UK festivals of the year. It takes place in London’s Victoria Park.

Whilst rain showers are expected for Saturday day, they should clear up by the evening, and Sunday is predicted to see sunny intervals all day. Tickets are still available for the festival.

The singer has been given odds of 2/1 to win – just two hours after she was named 6/1 joint favourite with Adele. Harvey’s eighth album, Let England Shake, is one of the twelve albums announced yesterday (July 19th) for the prestigious award. The award always seems to be a major step for the career of anyone who wins it, the XX in particularly did exceptionally well out of their Mercury victory last year. Favourites to be nominated this year are PJ Harvey, James Blake, The Horrors and the Vaccines, however the award always puts forward unknown acts from leftfield.

As well as being surrounded by some amazing beers and ales no doubt, the Beer Festival will also include some great acts including The Sex Pirates, The Ramshackle Union Band and The Curst Sons for the Saturday.  Whilst on the Sunday, acts will include Gillian Glover, The Proposition and The Orange Circus.

Playing on this year’s main stage are Judas Priest, Dream Theater and Slash. Whilst acts performing on the Prog Stage include Jethro Tull and Barclay James.

The National Theatre announced its production would be performed at the Adelphi Theatre, and will run from November 8th 2011 to February 25th 2012.

The show features James Corden in the starring role, and is an adaptation of the 1743 Italian comedy Servant of Two Masters. The Guardian described The National Theatre’s adaptation as: “A triumph of visual and verbal comedy. One of the funniest production’s in the National’s history.”

The festival, which takes place from August 19th – August 21st, is renowned for its great cinema, something which contributes to the fantastic atmosphere on site. Festival goers are also in for a treat when acclaimed Yorkshire folk singer Blue Roses performs the accompaniment to silent horror film Jekyll & Hyde, in Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde accompanied by Blue Roses.

The seven-piece rock band will play nine dates across the country, and will be accompanied by 22-piece Orchestra of the Swan and 16-piece choir made up of members from the prestigious Manchester Consort. The tour will begin on October 23rd at the Wales Millenium Centre, Cardiff and conclude in the Royal Albert Hall, London on November 4th. Throughout the tour, the band will be playing some of the most beautiful classical venues in the country.

To be released on July 9th, the two tracks will be Order and Pan, neither of which featured on his debut album, James Blake. Released in February, the album was critically acclaimed and he was nominated for the Critic’s Choice Award at this year’s Brit Awards.

The concerts begin this Friday in the grounds of London’s beautiful Kenwood House. Britney started her 33 date Femme Fatale world tour last week but managed to jet in for her son, Jayden James’s class graduation.  Looking tired but extremely happy she went to the special occasion looking more mum than popstar in a long dress and over sized cardigan.

Britney’s tour has already come under fire for the pop star looking bloated. Regardless of her physical shape, the pop princess ‘has gotten her spark back’ according to fans who have said the extravaganza is incredible.

The three day event kicks off on Friday the 24th with headliners The Killers. An exciting day for The Killers fans whom have missed the band while they had a two year break.

Fans are getting treated to a double serving of the band before Fridays big show too, The Killers play two intimate warm up shows on the 22nd and 23rd of June at London’s The Scala.

The Kaiser Chiefs support The Killers on Friday night of Hard Rock Calling, along with James and Michael Kiwanuka.  On the Pepsi Max Stage headliner’s The Kills are supported by Good Natured.

The second day of this epic event sees Bon Jovi headline Saturday the 25th of June.  Bon Jovi have been touring since February and will wrap up in July, drummer Tico Torres says “I think we need to take a break” but in an interview yesterday they expressed their excitement for performing in London’s Hyde Park.

Ray Davies supports Bon Jovi on Saturday night of Hard Rock Calling, along with Black Cards, Lissie and Vintage Trouble.  On the Pepsi Max Stage headliner Imelda May is supported by Ryan Bingham.

AND there’s a bonus stage for Saturday named the Bandstand which sees headliner’s The Breakers supported by The Launderettes.

The third and final night of Hard Rock Calling wraps up on Sunday the 26th of June with headliner Rod Stewart. Grammy Award-winning Rob Stewart makes his debut performance at Hard Rock Calling but with seven number ones and 27 top ten albums he’s bound to take it in his stride.

Legendary Stevie Nicks supports Rob Stewart on Sunday night of Hard Rock Calling, along with Adam Ant, Rumer and Train. The Pepsi Max Stage headliner’s Lighthouse Family are supported by Mike and The Mechanics.

The Horrors’ frontman Faris Badwan makes his festival debut with his new band Cat’s Eyes at Latitude Festival.

Cat’s Eyes is the creation of Faris Badwan from The Horrors and Canadian opera singer Rachel Zeffira. The duo released their debut album in April and will play their first festival at Latitude in July.

Cat’s Eyes are new additions along with James Blake and Alabama 3. They join headliners Suede, The National and Paolo Nutini.

The producer-cum-singer-songwriter will perform on the Deer Park Stage the day before the festival’s official opening. The festival is headlined by Kanye West, the Chemical Brothers and Rodrigo Y Gabriela.

Slipknot’s Corey Taylor has had a tattoo for the bands late bassist Paul Gray.

Paul Gray passed away last year following a morphine overdose. Vocalist Corey Taylor has emotionally said ”I miss him so much.”

His new artwork was filmed for US show Miami Ink, which catches Corey tearfully telling tattoo artist Ami James (and star of the show): “I am getting a tribute piece to my bass player.”
