More acts confirmed for Isle of Wight Festival 2010

Bombay Bicycle Club are amongst three new acts to have been confirmed to perform at this summer’s Isle of Wight Festival. Ocean Colour Scene and James have also set to play at the event which takes place at Seaclose Park from July 11-13. Bombay Bicycle Club have enjoyed huge success over the past year, and their addition to the line-up is sure to be a massive hit with festival fans.

This year’s festival boasts a strong line-up and will be headlined by Jay-Z, The Strokes and Sir Paul McCartney. Spandau Ballet, Blondie, Editors, Florence and the Machine, Friendly Fires, Pink and Spandau Ballet are also set to feature.

Oxegen tickets on sale friday, headliners announced

Arcade Fire have been confirmed to headline this year’s Oxegen festival in Dublin. The group are set to play on the first night of the event, which runs from July 9-11 at Punchestown racecourse in Naas.

Fatboy Slim has also been confirmed to play at the festival, joining previously announced acts such as Eminem, Muse, Jay-Z, The Black Eyed Peas, Kasabian, The Prodigy, Florence and the Machine, Paolo Nutini, Faithless, Stereophonics, David Guetta and Vampire Weekend.

More tickets are due to go on sale this coming Friday (12th March) at 9am, and will be available to compare and buy here at Tixdaq.com.

50 Cent talks up Peter Andre collaboration!

There have been many unusual musical collaborations over the years: Robbie Williams and Nicole Kidman, Jay-Z and Linkin Park, Run D.M.C. and Aerosmith are just a few from the recent past.

Not many could rival this for sheer weirdness though: 50 Cent has told the Sun newspaper that he would like to record a new version of Peter Andre’s huge hit Mysterious Girl with the singer, saying, “It’s like ‘YMCA’, one of those songs everybody knows. Girls like it and it gets them up dancing. Pete seems like a nice guy and maybe, with the right remix, we can get him a number one in the US as well as Europe this time.”

The longer you think about it, the more you think it could work…

Paul McCartney to headline Isle of Wight Festival

Paul McCartney has been confirmed as the Sunday night headliner at this year’s Isle of Wight festival. The former Beatle joins Jay-Z and the Strokes as the final headliner in what has shaped up to be an exceptional line-up for this year’s event.

Having performed at Glastonbury in 2004, McCartney is no stranger to UK festivals, but has never performed at the Isle of Wight.

Other acts already confirmed for the festival include Florence and the Machine, Friendly Fires, Blondie, Pink, Biffy Clyro and Spandau Ballet.

The show will be one of five for McCarntney this June, with the others being held at the RDS Arena in Dublin, Hampden Park in Glasgow, the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff and Hard Rock Calling in London.

Jay-Z plans new material

Jay-Z could start recording the material for his next album later this year. The hit US rapper will be ocuupied with touring and promoting his latest album (’Blueprint 3′) until late this year, but has implied he’d like to start recording new material sooner rather than later.

Speaking to the Press Association, Jay-Z said: ‘Maybe after I finish the BP3 tour, I’ll start another album. Maybe at the end of the year. We’ll see if the inspiration hits me.’

First of all, however, Jay-Z will be focussing on his three-date UK tour this summer. Jay-Z kicks off the tour with a show at MEN Arena from June 7, before also playing live at Birmingham LG Arena on June 9. Lily Allen confirmed for Wireless Festival

Lily Allen will be supporting Jay-Z at this summer’s Wireless Festival, after the rapper was successful in his plan to post-pone her break from music. Allen confirmed the news herself, writing on her Twitter page, ‘I’m slightly delaying my retirement till June. My last gig will be supporting Jay Z @ Wireless in London.’ Allen will shortly be taking a break from music, with plans to concentrate on her fashion boutique and her own musical for the near-future, but it looks as if these plans will be shelved – at least for a couple of months.

Before her swan song, Lily Allen is set for two special shows alongside Dizzee Rascal this March. The two stars will play live at the MEN Arena on March 5, before moving on to perform at the O2 Arena on March 7. The T in the Park lineup is beginning to take place, and it is undeniably a phenomenal group of musicians. Jay-Z headlined Glastonbury in 2008 and yet isn’t even at the top of the bill. Instead, the headlining artists are Muse, Kasabian and Eminem, who performs in the UK for the first time in five years.

Demand for the event is reaching stratospheric levels, and fortunately for all the fans desperate to see their favourite artists, an additional batch of tickets are to be released this Friday February 26th.

Jay-Z vows to cut-short Lily Allen’s planned break

Lily Allen is being talked out of plans for a break so she can perform a special duet with Jay-Z at the Wireless Festival this summer. The Empire State of Mind singer wants her to perform with him at the festival in Hyde Park, London, on Sunday, July 4. Allen had previously told reporters at the BRIT Awards that she was planning on taking a break from music to concentrate on her fashion boutique and her own musical.

Speaking on 95.8 Capital FM, Jay-Z said: ‘I spoke to Lily Allen yesterday so I’m trying to make that happen. Hopefully we’ll get that done.’

Whether this goes ahead or not, Lily Allen is still set for two special shows alongside Dizzee Rascal this March. The two stars will play live at the MEN Arena on March 5, before moving on to perform at the O2 Arena on March 7. Editors to play Isle of Wight Festival

A host of new acts have been confirmed for this summer’s Isle of Wight festival. Noah & the Whale and The Brilliant Things are among the acts who will play at the Big Top Arena on the Saturday, while Editors and The Courteeners will take to the main stage the following day.

Pixie Lott has been confirmed as the support act for Rihanna’s upcoming UK tour in May. The Brit Award nominee was invited personally by the Rihanna, and will be playing all ten UK dates with the Barbadian singer most famous for the huge hit Umbrella.

Jay-Z’s prodigy Rihanna is playing an arena tour to promote her 2009 album Rated R, which featured the top ten singles Russian Roulette and Rude Boy.

Jay-Z has offered his advice to the music industry, saying that record labels need to be ’smarter’ in order to survive the new digital age. Jay-Z, who was named Best International Male at the BRIT Awards, told BBC’s Newsbeat that less equals more when it comes to success: ‘Records are not selling as many as they were before… people have to be smarter about how they A and R, and what they put out, record companies need to catch up to that, someone needs to send them the memo.’

JLS have earned themselves a pretty big fan after wowing hip-hop megastar Jay-Z at the BRIT Awards. The boyband took home two awards at Tuesday night’s show at Earl’s Court, London and the US rapper was a keen onlooker.

Jay-Z told The Sun: ‘I liked JLS, I watched them do their show. They’re a good band and remind me of ‘N Sync, a band who do the boy band thing well. They put on a class performance and I think they will go on to be as big as ‘N Sync.’

Alicia Keys and Jay-Z are set to perform together as part of the entertainment for the BRIT Awards ceremony next week. The pair will perform their hit record ‘Empire State of Mind’ at the ceremony at London’s Earls Court, and will be joined by the likes of Lady GaGa, Cheryl Cole and JLS.

‘Empire State of Mind’ features on Alicia Keys’ latest album ‘The Element of Freedom,’ which hit number-one in the UK charts earlier this week.

Rihanna to selects Bob Marley song for Haiti concert

Rihanna has recently confirmed that she will cover Bob Markey’s ‘Redemption Song’ at the forthcoming Haiti charity event.

Rihanna will perform the song live at the Haiti telethon event tomorrow (Friday January 22) along with a number of top artists including Bono and Edge of U2 as well as Jay-Z

As well as supporting the Haiti campaign whilst in the UK, Rihanna is also set to embark on her UK tour later this year.

Rihanna confirmed for London Haiti Telethon

Rihanna has recently announced that she will be joining a number of top stars at the London Haiti telethon in London.

The charity event is set to take place in the capital this Friday (January 22) and other artists including Jay-Z, Bono and The Edge have all confirmed that they will be in attendance.

More than 100 of the world’s top stars have pledged their support to the campaign and a number of the acts are set to perform live at the telethon events that are taking place across the globe in cities including New York and Los Angeles.

As well as supporting the Haiti campaign whilst in the UK, Rihanna is also set to embark on her UK tour later this year.

The Strokes and Jay-Z have been confirmed as headliners for the 2010 Isle of Wight Festival due to take place on Friday 11th June, Saturday 12th June and Sunday 13th June. Jay-Z will headline the Friday night and the Strokes with headline Saturday night. Pink, Orbital, Blondie and Squeeze will also perform at some point over the weekend.

Whitney Houston to perform live at awards show

Following her recent X Factor appearance and UK tour announcement, it has been confirmed that Whitney Houston will perform at the American Music Awards on November 22 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The performance will be broadcast live on ABC TV.

The appearance is set to be Whitney Houston’s first prime-time television performance in the US for over five years.

Other artists set to perform at this year’s American Music Awards include Jay-Z, Rihanna, Green Day, the Black Eyed Peas, and Lady Gaga.

The 2010 UK Whitney Houston tour kicks off on April 8 at the MEN Arena. Not only will Jay-Z be in the UK to perform three massive shows with Coldplay, but the American rapper will also host one special show in the London Roundhouse on Thursday September 17.

The intimate gig will coincide with the release of the new album from Jay-Z called The Blueprint 3, available from September 14.

The Blueprint 3 was produced by Kanye West, who features on the new Jay-Z single Run This Town with Rihanna and is available now.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Jay-Z is excited by the fact that his new album has been leaked online.

Rather than discussing the potential consequences of people already hearing his eagerly anticipated new album before its official release, Jay-Z instead talked about how he might be the most bootlegged artist in history but was proud of his work so listeners should enjoy it.

Jay-Z also claimed that he had been getting feedback from those who had already listened to it.

Elsewhere, Jay-Z went to visit Africa to check up on his Water For Life campaign, and has since described how rappers should not talk about their gangster backgrounds because their lives are much easier compared to those living in Africa.

It has been announced that Jay-Z will perform a special show to mark the eighth anniversary of the terrorist tragedy that hit New York city on the world famous Twin Towers on September 11.

The special gig is to be broadcast live on Fuse TV with tickets to attend costing in the region of $599. However, the date in which tickets will go on sale are yet to be revealed.

September 11 is also the date when Jay-Z releases his new album The Blueprint 3, which is released on September 14 in the UK.

Proceeds from the tribute show, which will take place at Madison Square Gardens, will go to the New York Police and the Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.

Jay-Z has spoken of the upcoming gig as encompassing the true spirit of New York City. Jay-Z has also spoken of his honour towards the victims’ families and praised the city’s resilience as people continue to look after their own.

The day after the New York tribute concert, Jay-Z is set to take the stage once again, but this time to support Coldplay in the UK.

It seems that rather than focusing on rehearsals and other touring duties, Jay-Z and Coldplay have been pursuing other non-musical interests in the run-up to their upcoming shows in the UK.

Details of a new autobiography by Jay-Z have been revealed, and surprisingly he is to open up about his wedding and marriage to fellow American artist Beyonce.

The couple have always kept their relationship private but a source claims Jay-Z will write about everything from his days as a drug dealer to his wedding day, and how he writes his lyrics and records his songs.

No title or release date for the book has been announced, though a spokesperson did confirm that Jay-Z was writing a book and fans can expect his upcoming new album titled The Blueprint Volume 3, which is released on September 11.

Meanwhile, Coldplay will be making a cameo appearance on The Simpsons, where frontman Chris Martin will play himself and the band performs a private show for Bart and Homer after Homer wins the lottery, but then the show has to stop when Bart goes to the bathroom.

Coldplay and Jay-Z are going to be playing three massive UK dates together at the Lancashire County Cricket Ground in Manchester (September 12), Glasgow Hampden Park (September 16) and the London Wembley Stadium (September 19).

Chris Martin reveals that hell would have to freeze over before even considering leaving Coldplay.

He also joked that to launch a solo career would be the result of being dumped by his wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, and desperately needing the money.

Oasis to join Coldplay at Roskilde

Organisers behind the popular Roskilde Festival have recently announced that Oasis will headline this year’s festival. Oasis will join Coldplay as well as Madness and Slipknot at the hugely popular festival.

The Roskilde Festival takes place outside the Danish capital, Copenhagen, between July 2 and 5.

Oasis will also be playing live in the UK this summer. The Oasis tour kicks off with three shows at Heaton Park in Manchester (June 4, 6 &7). This years NME award nomination’s are dominated by former britpop legends Oasis and current Usrock royalty Kings of Leon. Coldplay have today announced that they will be headlining the hugely popular Roskilde Festival. The Roskilde Festival takes place outside the Danish capital, Copenhagen, between July 2 & 5.

Coldplay have today announced that they will be playing a second show at Wembley Stadium on September 19th.

There have been rumours this week that Girls Aloud would provide the support on one of next year’s dates and today’s news has confirmed the speculation. Girls Aloud will be supporting Coldplay at the second Wembley date rather than Jay-Z, who will be appearing at the other shows.
