She complained that the event is at the same time as the trial of the doctor who is accused of involuntary manslaughter by administering a lethal overdose on Michael Jackson, and thus she will not be playing. The Big Reunion is held over two weekends in November, and is the UK’s biggest indoor music event in winter. This year’s festival, the eleventh, takes place in Butlins, Skegness, on November 18th-20th and November 25th-27th. Professor Green is set to headline the Twice As Nice stage on weekend two. The show comes part way through his extensive UK tour, which kicks off on November 2nd at the Brighton Dome.

The letter is lead by the largest online Jackson forum, MJJCommunity, but has the support of 35 other fan forums. They cite reasons such as adding Kiss to the bill and quickly removing them due to lead singer Gene Simmons calling Jackson a child-molester, and the fact that the concert is due to take place at the same time as the trial of Jackson’s former doctor Conrad Murray for the manslaughter of the singer.

An excerpt from the statement says: “We, as Michael Jackon’s staunch supporters and advocates, refuse to support the Michael Jackson Forever Tribute, planned by Global Live Events in October, 2011. Even with the withdrawal of your most recent performer, Gene Simmons/Kiss, fans feel the damage has already been done. Your apology is too little, too late, and does not solve the problems we have with this tribute.”

It continues: “From the timing of this tribute, in the middle of Dr. Murray’s trial, to the ticketing prices, to the obscurity over what charities will be receiving the donation, to the no-guarantee policy of performers, the addition of Gene Simmons and dishonoring, thus tarnishing Michael Jackson’s legacy was simply the last straw. With the damage done, it will be the fans who work hard to overcome this debacle for Michael Jackson’s legacy.”

The line-up for the concert currently includes Christina Aguilera, JLS, Leona Lewis and Cee Lo Green, and is set to take place in Cardiff on October 8th.

The band were announced as performer on Monday (August 15th), due to Michael Jackson being a fan of them. However, organisers soon came under a barrage of criticism from fans, as KISS frontman Gene Simmons had made comments about Jackson in 2010. These comments included an allegation that the singer “molested” children.

A statement released by organisers of the concert, Global Live Events, said: “We have listened to Michael’s fans and are grateful to have been alerted to these unfortunate comments by Gene Simmons. Under the circumstances we fully agree that even though KISS is a band Michael admired we have no choice but to rescind our invitation to them to appear in our tribute concert.”

A letter has been sent by his estate to Global Live Events, who are organising the concert at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, which accuses them of “piggybacking” Jackson’s good name and questions the amount of revenue which will go to charity.

The letter also condemns the booking of Kiss for the show, as Gene Simmons has previously stated how he believes Michael Jackson was a paedophile. The letter stated,

“We were especially disappointed with the announcement that the band Kiss and bassist Gene Simmons were added as one of the acts to perform. Mr Simmons has made disparaging public remarks about Michael Jackson after his passing .”

The letter also contended that Global Live Events will be held to account for their actions and that they could face a legal battle. The news comes after a number of top acts were booked, including Christina Aguilera and JLS.

Rihanna and Drake have denied reports that they are currently in a relationship despite internet rumours and photographs of the pair kissing in a nightclub in Montreal last month.

Drake has stated to the New York Daily News that, “It’s not like that at all, I’m being honest. She’s just a friend, that’s all. A great artist.”

Metallica are releasing their own customized Monopoly board.

The board game is be based on the band featuring cartoon characters of the band.  There are several musician versions, Kiss had ‘kiss-opoly’ which had their won money songs and playing cards and The Beatles which was set around building the groups discography rather than houses and hotels. Parents are in uproar,  protesting that it had no place on prime time telly at 8pm on a Sunday evening:

The band are embarking on a UK and European tour in May.

The Kissaway Trail will be in the UK to support the release of their new album ‘Sleep Mountain’.

The Danish band are set to embark on a four-date tour of the UK starting on March 7. The tour begins at King Tuts in Glasgow. The Kissaway Trail are also set to call at The Cluny in Newcastle on March 8 followed by Birmingham Academy 3 on March 9. The Kissaway Trail bring their tour to a close with a live performance at the Hoxton Bar and Grill in London on March 10.

Katy Perry has announced that she is to extended her first major tour of the United States and Canada.

The Pop Princess of 2008 has harnessed her ‘I Kissed a Girl’ fame into becoming one of the top touring live acts in the United States this year. Her sell out ‘Hello Katty’ tour tour has now added dates across the stated including Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Santa Barbara, California and Houston.

Katy Perry has recently completed an early year UK tour and is due to return once again following her now extended trip around the United States. The second Katy Perry tour of 2009 starts at Brighton Dome (June 2) and features performances at Glasgow Barrowlands (June 6) and the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (June 9 & 10).
