The two day event takes place over next weekend, and features some of the biggest names in pop and rock music. Headlining the festival will be Eminem and Arctic Monkeys. Also appearing on the main stage will be Rihanna, Plan B, The Script, Kaiser Chiefs and Manic Street Preachers.

The 4Music Stage will see headline sets from Pendulum and Dizzee Rascal, with Primal Scream, Razorlight, The Courteneers, Tinie Tempah, The Wombats and Jessie J.

Ricky Wilson (Kaiser Chiefs front man) tweeted today, “Camden Chalk Farm. Me and Simon will be there in a bit with our brooms. Get one near you today if you’re about.”

London singer songwriter Kate Nash meanwhile has been helping out with the clean-up at Bethnal Green and in Clapham. It seems that these celebrities are eager to get involved with a reconstruction process which could take some time.

The music industry itself was hit quite hard by the rioting as merchandise was stolen from numerous record stores up and down the city in the past few days of violence and looting.

The Kaiser Chiefs will be touring the UK (once they have finished tidying it up) and will be playing two very special home-town shows at the Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds on the 10th and 11th September.

The Leeds band were performing on Triple J, an Australian radio station. The band’s drummer, Nick Hodgson, co-wrote the track, and so receives royalties when it is played. He joked: “I chose to do this song because I wrote this song with Mark Ronson, so the more times it gets played the more money I get!” The cover can be heard here.

“Surgery was the only option but due to our busy touring schedule there never seemed to be a good time to do it, so it kept getting put off and put off again. Things kept getting worse however to the point where even just sitting on a plane became a grueling ordeal, so the decision was made to have the operation after festival season finished this year.”

Ryan went on to add that following 6 weeks of convalescence, the band will be back and working on their 5th studio album. The Cribs will also be supporting the Kaiser Chiefs at their forthcoming hometown show at Leed’s Kirkstall Abbey.

Gary Jarman commented that recording will start this week and that the band are “really excited about it.” Jarman also talked of how the record may be very inspired by Queen and confessed that he has been addicted to Queen’s Innuendo album. This comment has given rise to speculation that the new Cribs album will have a new Queen-esque sound.

Although no date has been confirmed for the release of the record, it could be out at the end of this year. The Cribs will also be playing along with The Kaiser Chiefs at their Kirkstall Abbey show on September 11th and at this weekend’s Kendal Calling Festival.

Duran Duran were forced to pull out of the festival due to singer Simon Le Bon contracting laryngitis, which also caused them to cancel or reschedule most of their European tour. The band were due to headline The Arena stage, the third biggest stage of the festival.

Last night (June 5th), the official V Festival twitter, @vfestival, posted a message saying: “Duran Duran are no longer playing at V Festival, replacement artist to be announced tomorrow on vfestival.com.” Updates will follow with the revised line-up.

Sunday’s headline performance comes from pop-superstar Rod Stewart. The 66-year-old has had a career nearly half a century long, seven number-one singles and twenty-seven top-ten albums. The fourth album ‘The Future Is Medieval’ has a darker edge which was influenced by Hodgson’s father “Obviously, that changes things because, music just feels irrelevant and becomes sort of peripheral” adding that “when you do write you can’t help but write from the mindset you’re in at the time”

Featuring headliners The Killers, Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart, the three-day even takes place this Friday (June 24th), Saturday (June 25th) and Sunday (26th). The Killers, headlining Friday, are expected to play a number of songs from their solo careers as well as hits from their three albums. Frontman Brandon Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannucci launched solo careers this year, and bassist Mark Stoermer and guitarist Dave Keuning are both expected to play new solo material. The Killers will be supported by Kaiser Chiefs.

Saturday Night’s headliners Bon Jovi will be rejoined by guitarist Richie Sambora after he completed his stint in rehab. He entered rehab in April fighting alcoholism, during which the band said, “Our support for Richie is absolute.” The band have sold over 120 million albums worldwide, and will be supported by Ray Davies.

Rod Stewart is to close the festival on Sunday night. The singer has had seven hit singles and 27 top-ten albums in a career almost 50 years long. Stevie Nicks will act as support for Stewart, while The Lighthouse Family will appear headlining the Pepsi Max stage.

The third and final night of Hard Rock Calling wraps up on Sunday the 26th of June with headliner Rod Stewart. Grammy Award-winning Rob Stewart makes his debut performance at Hard Rock Calling but with seven number ones and 27 top ten albums he’s bound to take it in his stride.

The band’s fourth album was publicly released on June 3rd, and allowed fans to create their own album from a list of twenty songs, design their own artwork, and share their version with friends. Once shared, other listeners are able to buy each other’s versions of the record, and the creator is rewarded with £1 each time.

However, in a message to fans, Kaiser Chiefs revealed there had been a lot of demand for an “official” take on the album, and were aiming to release it “as soon as we can physically make the CDs and ship them to the shops.” The bands’ take on the album includes a track that didn’t feature in the original line-up of songs, Kinda Girl You Are. The album was being recorded and mixed “right up until the week of release,” and Kinda Girl You Are “was the last through the gatepost.”

Kaiser Chiefs have added an extra night to their Kirkstall Abbey date.

After their saturday night hometown gig sold out in minuets the band decided to do an additional night on Sunday the 11th of September.

The Chiefs have a busy summer of festivals ahead of them playing Glastonbury and V festival as well as numerous european dates befoe they come home for two UK gig nights.

Wilson entered the race to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. The father of fellow Kaiser Chief’s member Nick Hodgson was diagnosed with the disease last year. The day before the event, Wilson told fans via Twitter that he had not yet started training.

Drummer Nick Hodgson told the Daily Star, “We’re busy. The writing started a long time ago, like a year-and-a-half ago. It’s just been on a nice steady pace because we’ve had a lot of time off. I like the fact that guitars are beginning to creep back in and it’s exciting.

“I like all kinds of music but when I hear something I really like it normally has loud guitars in it and I’m starting to hear more of that everywhere.”

It is though that a Kaiser Chiefs UK tour will follow the album release, with Kaiser Chiefs tickets set to go on sale as soon as dates are announced.

Snow Patrol’s Winter tour has finished but the band is billed to play at homecoming events in Ward Park in Bangor in June 2010.

It is rumoured that David Grohl’s new band, Them Crooked Vultures, are set to perform before the Arctic Monkeys this evening.

The Arctic Monkeys are playing a special gig at London Brixton Academy that is only open to members of their fan club. Alex Turner and his band mates are set to showcase material from the latest Arctic Monkeys album entitled Humbug which was released this week.

Rumours are currently circulating online suggesting Them Crooked Vultuers will be performing in the support slot. Them Crooked Vultures is the latest prjoect of Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl. The band also features Josh Homme of Queens of the Stonage as well as Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones.

Tickets to see The Arctic Monkeys this evening are no longer available, however, fans will be glad to hear that  tickets are still available for this weekend’s Reading and Leeds Festival. The Arctic Monkeys will be joined by a host of top acts including Radiohead, Kings of Leon The Prodigy and Kaiser Chiefs. The Arctic Monkeys have revealed that the gig will only be open to fan club members.  Fans of the Arctic Monkeys have until midnight tomorrow (August 19) to register for tickets on the band’s official site ArcticMonkeys.com.  Fans will be selected at random and invited to purchase tickets.

The Arctic Monkeys are set to preview their forthcoming album, Humbug, as they warm up for the 2009 Reading and Leeds Festival.

The 2009 Reading and Leeds Festival is set to take place over the August Bank Holiday (August 26-29). Arctic Monkeys will be joined by a number of top UK and US acts including Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs, The Prodigy and Radiohead. It has recently been announced that Radiohead will treat their fans to previously unheard tracks at the forthcoming Reading and Leeds festival.

Radiohead have also revealed that they will be releasing a new song entitled These Are My Twisted Words as a free download.

Radiohead guitarist, Jonny Greenwood, posted a comment on the Dead Air Space blog confirming the band will be playing the new track and some other new material at the Reading and Leeds Festival. The new track is available to download along with Harry Patch (In Memory Of) which was released earlier this month.

Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs broke a rib whilst supporting Green Day at Madison Square Gardens, New York.

A statement from the Kaiser Chiefs reports that frontman Ricky Wilson broke a rib whilst performing in New York at Madison Square Gardens as the support act for Green Day.

Ricky Wilson was jumping between the barrier and the stage when he injured himself, but after treatment it was found that the injury was not serious enough to cancel any upcoming dates they have.

It seems Ricky Wilson has a habit of injuring himself whilst on tour of the US. He has already broken his ankle in Seattle in March 2005 and then suffered ankle ligament damage at the Austin Limits Festival in September 2007.

Kaiser Chiefs will be returning to the UK for the Reading & Leeds Festival, which takes place at Reading Richfield Avenue and Leeds Bramham Park (August 28-30).

Green Day will also be touring the UK later this year in support of their latest album 21st Century Breakdown.

The Green Day tour begins at the Glasgow SECC & Clyde Auditorium (October 19) and will be playing the major UK arenas such as the London O2 Arena (October 23 & 24), Birmingham LG Arena (October 27 & 28) and the Manchester Evening News Arena (October 30 & 31) before closing the tour at the London Wembley Arena (November 1).

It has recently been confirmed that Universal Music are set to release the official recording of the hugely popular Nirvana performance from the 1992 Reading Festival.

A bootleg copy of performance was previously circulated online and proved to be so popular that Universal Music and the remaining members of Nirvana agreed to release the footage officially.

An unofficial video of the show, ‘Life Takes No Prisoners, will be released on May 4. The official DVD is due to be released in November.

The 2009 Reading Festival line up includes a number of huge acts. Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Radiohead, Bloc Party, Prodigy and Kaiser Chiefs are all on the bill. Reading Festival sold out within hours of going on sale, but tickets are still available to compare at Tixdaq.

A number of this year’s Reading Festival headliners are on tour in the UK in 2009. Kings of Leon visit London and Manchester in June. lollapooluza line-up announcement comes full of headliner acts

Organiser’s of Lollapalooza 2009 have confirmed Kings of Leon, Depeche Mode, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, Jane’s Addiction and Beastie Boys as headliners for this years summer festival.

Also included on what promises to be one of the world’s premium summer 2009 line ups are Vampire Weekend, TV On The Radio, Lou Reed, Passion Pit, Glasvegas, White Lies and Chairlift

The Loollapalooza festival is widely regarded as one of the United States premiere festivals for music fans attracting a broad line up mainstream, emerging and cult acts.

The festival which is due to take place in Chicago’s Grant Park in Chicago this coming August 7, 8 and 9 will also host Animal Collective, Band Of Horses, Of Montreal, Ben Folds, Fleet Foxes, Silversun Pickups, Kaiser Chiefs, Crystal Castles and Santigold will also perform as will Lykke Li, Friendly Fires, Bat For Lashes, and new york rockers The Virgins.

British festival fans will have the opportunity to catch many of the acts confirmed to be performing at Lollapalooza 2009, as many embark on solo tours around the UK or better still have confirmed appearances at some of the many music festivals on offer this summer including, V Festival, Reading Festical, Leeds Festival, T in the Park, Bestival, Hard Rock Calling lattitude, Wireless and Isle of Wight Festival.

The expected tour would following on from Radiohead’s 2008 In Rainbows tour which culminated in a showpiece concert at London’s Hyde park.

O’Brien was speaking at the first meeting of the Featured Artists’ Coalition in London. The newly formed music industry lobby of musicians who are attempting to establish a more prominent voice in the future of the music industry.

The FAC has claimed it will fight to ensure that the interests of artists and fans are not compromised by deals brokered between multi-national corporations which only serve corporations self interest. To this end it is asking for transparency from the industry in exchange for cooperation towards renewal and growth.

The U2 Tour will visit 14 cities across Europe including U2 concerts in Milan, Gothenburg, Amsterdam, Paris, Nice, Dublin, Chorzow, Berlin, Gelsenkirchen, London, Sheffield and Glasgow before finishing at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 22nd August. The European leg of the U2 tour will be followed by dates in North America beginning at Chicago’s Soldier Field on September 12th, 2009.

Long-time U2 Show Director Willie Williams has worked again with architect Mark Fisher (ZooTV Tour, PopMart Tour, Elevation Tour and Vertigo Tour), to create an innovative 360Ëš design which affords an unobstructed view for the audience.  The U2 360 Tour also marks the first time a band has toured in stadiums with such a unique and original structure (which can be viewed at U2.com).

This years NME award nomination’s are dominated by former britpop legends Oasis and current Usrock royalty Kings of Leon. Oasis have been nominated for seven awards, including best band, best live band, best album and best video while Kings of Leon are in line for four statues, in the categories of best international band and best live band.

Life performances at the awards show are due to given by hotly tipped newcomers White Lies, Friendly Fires and Glasvegas, seasoned pro’s Franz Ferdinand and life time legend’s The Cure

It is a different story in the ticket resale charts. Rock takes all of the top slots with Oasis, AC/DC, Kings Of Leon and Coldplay all trailing The Killers for the second week. Kaiser Chiefs, Katherine Jenkins and Leon Jackson are all selling tickets for their forthcoming tours and will be expecting to see ticket demand increase following last week’s album chart success.

This year’s V Festival line-up featured some of the biggest hitters in contemporary popular music. Sets from the likes of Stereophonics, The Verve, Kaiser Chiefs and Amy Winehouse amongst others ensured that the event was a huge success.

Only days after their show at Brixton Academy, The Kings Of Leon proved why they are one of Britain’s best loved American exports. The band recently announced the dates for their 12 night UK tour which kicks off in Brighton on the 1st December. The band has sold out the majority of these dates and tickets for the London shows are selling for as much as £200 on ticket trading sites.

As Britain’s August festival fever continues, ticket brokers and opportunists are cashing in on strong last minute demand for the Carling Reading and Leeds Festivals selling tickets for close to £500 for a single weekend camping ticket, originally purchased for £155.

However, it was not only Noel who decided to unleash one of his characteristic outbursts.. Younger brother, Liam, said he thought all of Coldplay’s fans were ‘boring and ugly’. Coldplay who themselves announced their UK tour in June have sold-out all 16 dates. Tickets are selling for as much as £329 on the secondary market – over seven
times face value. Only time will tell if Oasis ticket prices will follow the same trend.
