Adele, Justin Bieber and 30 Seconds To Mars are each shortlisted for three awards, whilst on the back of the announcement of a December 2011 Coldplay UK tour, the band have been nominated for best UK and Ireland act.

The 18th Annual MTV EMA’s will take place at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena on November 6th, with the ceremony set to be broadcast live on MTV.

Kings Of Leon were forced to cancel their US tour, at an estimated cost of $15million after lead singer Caleb Followill was allegedly diagnosed with vocal problems and exhaustion. Rumours are suggesting that he is actually battling with alcohol problems. Isaac Hanson told WENN: “I have a hard time with musicians who act like pricks because it just makes me mad. If you’re actually making a living doing it [making music], pinch yourself everyday, because it goes if you don’t love it and people will eventually get pissed off.”

He continued, apparently giving advice: “I’m gonna call somebody out on it – Kings Of Leon are running some risks. They’re irritating people and you can’t do that too much. Eventually the bad boy image affects fans’ willingness to show up. Their fans will get bummed out. Everyone has their demons, everyone has their challenges. I’m a bit of a hothead in certain circumstances, but you gotta temper it because your fans are there and they’ve paid good money to see a show, and you gotta bring it.”

Hanson will play at next weekend’s V Festival, and are touring the UK in Novemeber.

US tabloid magazine Star reported that Caleb had been asked to leave the band because of his “diva traits” and the band would continue with “Jared and Matthew to take over lead vocals.” The news of this disquiet comes as Kings of Leon were forced to cancel their US tour over drink and health issues which Caleb suffered from.

Nathan Followill tweeted in response to these rumours, “BREAKING NEWS: KOL has kicked Caleb out and Jared & Matt will be taking over lead vocals. Where do people come up with this sh*t? Hilarious.” Kings of Leon will be back for the Canadian leg of their world tour.

Now it has been revealed that the cancellation of these shows will cost the band over £9million which will hit their insurers, Lloyds, very hard. The band have said they will return to play their dates in Canada this September, but it appears that the cancelled US dates will have dramatic fiscal effects.

Although the official line from the band has said that the tour was cancelled due to the health of Caleb, the other band members have revealed that Caleb is also having drinking problems at the moment.

Now however, the band’s drummer, Nathan Followill, has denied these claims and explicitly stated that the band are not breaking up at the moment.

He tweeted, “Bummed about the tour not happening. So sorry 4 all the fans. We just need some rest. Thanks 4 understanding. WE ARE NOT BREAKING UP!”

The band have now cancelled the rest of their the US tour and fans are very concerned that this could be the end for the band. They have however said they will continue with their tour in Canada on September 28th.

Caleb told that “I’m just trying to get better,” and when asked about his voice situation he told that his voice was the reason behind the tour troubles.

Rumours are currently circulating that the band may split up as there seems to be a lot of infighting and internal problems. They will however be playing shows in Canada this September.

The band released a statement saying, “We are so sorry to say Kings of Leon are cancelling their entire US tour due to Caleb Followill suffering from vocal issues and exhaustion.

“The band is devastated, but in order to give their fans the shows they deserve, they need to take this break.

“Unfortunately, the US dates cannot be rescheduled due to the band’s international tour schedule,

“Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase. Tickets purchased online or via phones will be automatically refunded.”

The Kings of Leon tour is set to resume in Canada on 28th September.

The band then postponed their gig at Houston on July 30th and now the band’s drummer Nathan Followill has revealed how he is feeling by their current state.

He tweeted, “Not so good morning 4 me today. Ashamed & embarrassed by last nights (July 29) fiasco. Can’t apologize enough, utterly gutted. A million I’m sorry’s.”

The different lines expressed by different members of the band seem to show that there are major internal problems with the band and the North American tour are in real danger of being forced into cancelling further shows at this rate.

The gig at Dallas was called off halfway through due to problems suffered by front man Caleb Followill. Now the band also cancelled their show at Houston last night, again letting their fans down.

An official statement released by the band said that the problems were due to ”heat exhaustion and dehydration” from Caleb but bassist Jared Followill did not seem to agree with this line.

He tweeted, “I love our fans so much. I know you guys aren’t stupid. I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.”

This suggests the band are currently suffering from major internal problems and their North American tour is under much jeopardy at the moment.

The southern rockers were half way through a set at Dallas last night (July 29th) when their lead singer Caleb Followill stormed off-stage in search of more alcohol . He did not return and told fans that he had lost his voice, but the signs indicate his early exit was due to alcohol rather than throat issues.

Bassist Jareb Followill came out and explained to the crowd the situation, “F***ing hate Caleb, not us. I don’t know what to say. It’s not our fault. It’s Caleb. He can’t play the rest of the show. We will be back as soon as possible.”

The band will be sure to back but this incident demonstrates that they did live quite a rock and roll lifestyle on tour which they have been criticised for in the past. The Kings of Leon will continue their tour of America this Summer.

Talihina Sky is the new documentary film that explores the lives and family dynamic of the now globally synonymous Followill family.

The film is produced by Casey McGrath and explores the lives, past and present of the Kings of Leon family. The name Talihina Sky comes from the Followill family reunion which happens every year at Talihina Oklahoma.

The film will focus upon the unlikely background of the Grammy award winning band… The father of the band is a Pentecostal evangelist minister, and playing rock and roll music was very much frowned upon by the strict religious environment the boys grew up in.

Unfortunately key scenes from the film were lost when their car was stolen with filming in it. Caleb Followill, frontman of the band stated “They stole the most priceless footage. People are going to want to know more about those early days, but we don’t have it.”

Despite the lost scenes the film promises to provide an exciting insight into the family life of one of the biggest rock bands on the planet. A UK release date is yet to be revealed but the film goes out to American viewers next month.

The band asked the audience to raise their glasses to Dunn, with frontman Caleb Followill asking the audience to toast “a friend of ours who’s passed away. This is for Ryan.” The band then played the hit Use Somebody. Dunn died when he crashed his Porsche, travelling 130mph in a 55mph zone.

The Tennessee four-piece, of three brothers and a cousin, are playing two shows in London this Wednesday (June 22nd) and Thursday (June 23rd). The gigs will feature support from former The Jam frontman Paul Weller, White Lies, Zac Brown Band and The Walkmen. The band are touring following the release of fifth album Come Around Sundown, playing only a handful of UK dates. With crowd favourites such as Use Somebody and Sex On Fire, as well as the world-class support acts, these shows are sure to be special. The festival will take place this weekend in Newport, from 10th to 12th June, and is headlined by Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters and Kasabian. Other acts set to appear include Kaiser Chiefs, Courteeners, Band Of Horses, We Are Scientists, Pulp, Iggy and the Stooges, Seasick Steve, Beady Eye, The Script and Plan B.

The event will be the first ever UK festival broadcast live in 3D, with this year’s other major event taking place on the Isle Of Wight, Bestival, set to receive the same treatment in September.

Liam Gallagher (of Beady Eye) named his clothing range after one of Weller’s earlier songs with band ‘The Jam’. Weller will sell six items, his trademark long sleeved shirts, scarves and leather jackets. He will also design a bigger winter collection. Weller is excited about the venture ” I’ve wanted to design my own range for some time and Pretty Green felt like a good home for my clothes. My main design reference is somewhere between 1968 and 1970. The clothing themselves sit between being smart and casual with quality materials and tailoring”

The film will be played at 150 selected cinemas across the UK and will include a Q&A from the band. Specific cinemas are still to be named. The film will be on general release from July.

Murphy launched a tirade against the Nashville band in January when they turned down a request from Glee to licence their hit ‘Use Somebody’.

He issued an apology earlier this month, saying he had not spoken “with as much clarity as I would have liked” and that he respected Kings of Leon’s stance.

Last week the band said that it was a ‘wonderful feeling’ that a line had now been drawn under the issue. They also play a string of dates from the end of May to the end of June in the U.K, including the Isle of Wight Festival and a gig supported by Paul Weller in Hyde Park.

More than seven hours of Bestival will be broadcast in September with performances from Pendulum, The Cure, Primal Scream and Public Enemy.

Organiser and Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank said: “Bestival in 3D will be a mind-blowing explosion of colour and multidimensional music and mayhem. Having Camp Bestival too… means we’ve got a great summer of TV ahead.”

Two hours of action will be shown in 3D on each day of the festival, which takes place between 8-11 September at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight.

Other acts confirmed for Bestival include Robyn, Crystal Castles, Magnetic Man, Katy B, DJ Shadow and Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys.

There will also be a 90-minute special after the festival finishes showing the main highlights. Bestival was voted best festival at the UK festival awards in 2010.

It’s also been announced the Isle of Wight festival will be shown in 3D on Sky. The festival in Seaclose Park in Newport, from 10 to 12 June is headlined by Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters and Kasabian.

They asked users how far they’d likely go on a first date. Users were given the options of “I’d only meet up for a chat”, “Perhaps a kiss” and “I’d go all the way if the mood was right.”

Answers were then matched with users’ tastes in music, leaving Tastebuds with the result that on average Coldplay fans were the least likely to have sex on a first date, while Nirvana fans were the most likely.

The two-day event is to take place on August 19 and August 20 at the Aviation Museum Ground in Krakow. Other acts that have been confirmed include Interpol and You Me At Six.

In the five years since its debut, the organisers have attempted to transform the event into a classic summer festival. “The event is extending its range with guitar music and is changing its profile from a city festival to a classic summer festival,” says Mikołaj Ziółkowski of Alter Art.

The festival has previously played host to Muse, 30 Seconds to Mars and My Chemical Romance.

Initially seen as a Southern counterpart to The Strokes, comparisons with 70s rockers such as Creedence Clearwater Revival seemed unavoidable.

However the band brushed aside these influences to become something different. Now Kings Of Leon are one of the biggest rock bands around, sizing up an enormous stadium tour this summer, with stadium sized anthems in their later albums played live along with the country influenced earlier stuff.

Cementing their position in the UK, the Followills are also making massive inroads across their native United States. Inviting a director on tour, the decision has resulted in a potentially fascinating documentary.

‘Talihina Sky: The Story Of Kings Of Leon’ was put together by director Stephen C Mitchell and covers the band’s entire career. Speaking to the New York Times, the film maker explained that the documentary is a “fascinating insight for fans and non-fans about a group of musicians who will never forget their strict Pentecostal upbringing or rough-and-tumble back-country roots”.

The film is due to have is premiere in New York later this month. Pride of place at the Tribeca Film Festival, ‘Talihina Sky: The Story Of Kings Of Leon’ does not yet have an official release date.

Having started writing and recording in November, with Noel Gallagher rumoured to have been playing drums on one track, Weller told XFM in an interview backstage at the Japan Disaster Benefit that his new album is ready for a release.

“The album is all ready to go. Maybe this year, hopefully,” Weller said.

Weller also enthused about stretching himself on this effort. “It seems to be taking its own character this time. Sonically it’s still pushing things, but still with good melodies, and lyrically I’m trying to stretch myself. I’ve tried to make the words more impressionistic, tried to write in different ways.

“As much as I’m going to change the music, I want to be able to change the way I write words as well.”

His last two albums have been critically acclaimed by both fans and critics alike and Weller’s finger is firmly on the pulse. Weller’s only live dates this year are support slots for the Kings of Leon.

Tim Burgess and Mark Collins from The Charlatans have just been confirmed as playing an acoustic slot on the Garden Stage, where Midge Ure and James Walsh from Starsailor performed last year.

The sold-out festival takes place June 10 – 12. Last year’s Friday night headliner was Jay-Z, who surprised the gathering crowd by bringing on Kanye West towards the end of his performance.

The annual awards are granted by the Deutsche Phono-Akademie, an association of recording companies, and are determined by the previous year’s sales. Upon receiving the award, Robbie Williams thanked the German music industry for their continued support by declaring: ‘Germany is good to us.’

Robbie has had a lot of success at the Echo Awards, having previously won the award for best international artist a whopping seven times.

Take That were one of the acts performing at the ceremony, alongside Adele and Manchester duo Hurts.

Hurts bagged the award for best international newcomer, but Adele lost out in the international artist award to Scottish singer/songwriter Amy Macdonald, despite having phenomenal chart success in 2011.

An application has been submitted by promoters ‘Solo’ to the Isle of Wight Council under the Isle of Wight Act, the legislation which controls major events on the Island. The organisers are also seeking to increase space for backstage crew and staff at Seaclose Park, Newport.
The major stumbling block to the increase would be the residents of Newport, many of whom flee the island during the weekend of the festival. The cabinet member responsible for community safety, Cllr Barry Abraham, claims that there will be a full public consultation once a licensing application has been submitted, which must be done before Monday 12th April.
Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters and Kasabian are confirmed as the headliners to this years festival. Previous headliners since the festival was re-launched include The Police and David Bowie.

Murphy has publicly criticised ex Guns n Roses guitarist Slash and the Kings of Leon for not wanting to appear on the show – something that has irked Grohl. “You shouldn’t have to do Glee,” he said. “And then the guy who created Glee is so offended that we’re not, like, begging to be on his show… I watched ten minutes of it. It’s not my thing”.
The ex-Nirvana sticksman told The Hollywood Reporter that it is a band’s right to choose whether or not their songs should appear on the show.

Murphy recently revealed that a future episode of Glee will see the show pay tribute to Fleetwood Mac after acquiring the rights to one of the band’s albums.

Kings Of Leon released their latest album in 2010, Come Around Sundown, which included hit single Radioactive. They sold out a huge summer how at London’s Hyde Park, whilst also performing at UK arenas throughout December.

Love them or hate them, Kings Of Leon will be returning to the UK live scene in 2011, with a series of outdoor summer shows. Kings Of Leon tickets are available for concerts at Slane Castle, Coventry Ricoh Arena, Sunderland Stadium Of Light, Lancashire County Cricket Club, Hyde Park in London and Murrayfield in Edinburgh.

The original show, due to take place on the 21st December, was cancelled to to the band’s tour bus catching fire. The new show will take place just two days before the band’s Hyde Park concerts.

The new year will bring a variety of performances from the biggest acts in music and comedy, including Russell Howard, the Strictly Come Dancing live tour, Peter Kay, Usher, McFly and X Factor Live 2011.

2011 will also be a big year for the popular venue, as huge international tours will pass through the NIA Birmingham’s doors, including Drake, Justin Bieber, Peter Kay, Blink 182, Lee Evans and Katy Perry.

Acts such as The Script, Pixie Lott, Jeff Beck and Two Door Cinema Club have also been confirmed to perform at the festival, which will take place from June 10th to 12th at Seasclose Park, Newport.

Isle Of Wight Festival will be headlined by Kings Of Leon, Foo Fighters and Kasabian, with a special guest appearance from Pulp also confirmed.
