Smoke Fairies Tickets

The festival has already announced headline acts like; Bon Iver, Elbow and Paul Weller, but had kept back a few suprises for closer the time. New acts across a variety of stages were yesterday released, with some highlights being; Catherine AD, Slow Club, King Charles, Smoke Fairies and Of Monsters And Men.

At The Lake Stage, BBC Radio 1 DJ and champion of new music, Huw Stephens has been asked to curate his own line-up. Headline slots go to sonically challenging, electro-indie group Clock Opera, while other acts include:

Alongside all the top notch musical activity, Latitude has proved its diversity, by including a number of other productions, including film, theatre and comedy.

Sadler’s Wells will present an excerpt from the hugely popular Sadler’s Wells Production, The Most Incredible Thing on The Waterfront Stage. A collaboration between pop legends Pet Shop Boys and choreographer/director Javier De Frutos, The Most Incredible Thing, won the Evening Standard’s inaugural Beyond Theatre Award after its premiere in 2011, and recently enjoyed a return run at the theatre this spring.

On the Film and Music Arena Turner Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller and co-director Nick Abraham present their new film The Bruce Lacey Experience. Three years in the making, the film examines Lacey’s remarkable legacy as an all-round cultural chameleon. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Jeremy Deller. The Royal Albert Hall arrives at Latitude presenting the innovative violinist Hahn-Bin. One of the world’s most exciting and original classical musicians, Hahn-Bin is not only a prodigious talent but a style visionary who recently graced the cover of fashion bible i-D Magazine. Hahn-Bin recently launched The Renaissance of Classical Music, a project which aims to bring the style into mainstream culture.

In the Comedy Arena, Jack Dee, Brian Cox, Tim Minchin and others will be joined by Phill Jupitus, as well as multi award-winning, fringe sell-out, mind reader who can’t read minds, Chris Cox and revered Canadian stand-up Tony Law will be regaling audiences with his time travelling exploits in the company of his infamous sausage dog.

With the fall in the number of traditional summer festivals in the UK this year, Latitude is surely one of the hottest tickets in town for those who want to while the days away baking in a sweaty tent and drinking warm cider.

Gary Jarman commented that recording will start this week and that the band are “really excited about it.” Jarman also talked of how the record may be very inspired by Queen and confessed that he has been addicted to Queen’s Innuendo album. This comment has given rise to speculation that the new Cribs album will have a new Queen-esque sound.

Although no date has been confirmed for the release of the record, it could be out at the end of this year. The Cribs will also be playing along with The Kaiser Chiefs at their Kirkstall Abbey show on September 11th and at this weekend’s Kendal Calling Festival.

The guitarist from the band Jimmy Smith stated that “We all have healthy drinking problems. Some of us have other problems on top of the drinking problem.”

The comments were very much jovial in tone and not serious reflections of their lifestyles but indicate that the Foals certainly are enjoying themselves whilst on tour.

The interview was ahead of their closing performance at Latitude Festival, which finished off the festival for 2011.

Also on the Latitude festival was Ed Sheeran who will be playing at Bestival this year.

Speaking to the NME at Latitude, Kele Okereke (former Bloc Party frontman) said, “There are some plans for new stuff. I’m not sure what I can say… I’d be surprised if there wasn’t some new stuff before the end of the summer.”

This news will certainly excite many and is coherence with the band’s guitarist Russell Lissack, who confirmed earlier in the year that the band will be back together after the Summer.

This year rain was expected to descend upon the festival and as promised mother nature delivered an obtrusive weekend of wet and windy conditions. Latitude goers did receive some welcome sunshine on the Friday, but as Saturday dawned the fields were transformed into the usual mass of mud.

However despite the conditions under foot and over head, it was another successful year for Latitude. Stand out performances came from The National, with their beautifully melancholy sound of heartbreaking music which was received very well.

Another highlight has to be that of Ed Sheeran who gave the crowds a great reason to cheer as the rain lashed down overhead, and girls screamed for the Leeds born singer-songwriter. Whilst Suede provided a great close to the festival on the Sunday night.

Thus it seemed the festival soldiered on in the rain and again succeeded in giving punters an amazing weekend of music and entertainment.

Ed Sheeran will aslo be playing at this year’s Bestival.

Festival goers had enjoyed a day full of sunshine on the Friday, but will now have to rely on wellies for the remainder of the event.

Paolo Nutini headlined the main stage yesterday evening, and was supported by the likes of My Morning Jacket, the Cribs, Seasick Steve and Rumer. Foals closed the Word Arena.

Suede will bring the festival to a close this evening, following performances throughout the day from Hurts, Glasvegas, Anna Calvi, Eels, Lykke Li and Everything Everything.

It has been reported that there were huge queues for the Film and Music Arena to see comic star Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon talk about their TV series The Trip, answering questions from screenwriter Richard Curtis.

Latitude is renowned for its hugely diverse line-up, with leading names from the worlds of comedy, theatre, film, art, literature, poetry, cabaret, fashion and dance appearing on the 18 stages and areas throughout this weekend.

Organiser Festival Republic has said that it expects to make a profit from the festival for the first time this year.

Toby Green from the Independent gave their recent show at Somerset House 4 stars commenting, “this current Eels incarnation is most definitely a group enjoying themselves.”

Bombay Bicycle Club: To say that is band are something of a hot product at the moment is perhaps an understatement. Their new single Shuffle is undoubtably the anthem of the Summer so far and their new album sounds amazing. Hear it along with their beautiful back catalogue of indie tunes on the Friday night on the World Arena Stage.

Ed Sheeran: Ed Sheeran is playing during the early afternoon on the Saturday and it would seem a bit rude to miss out on his medley of acoustic brilliance. The nation can’t escape him at the moment, but don’t just think of him as that ginger bloke who sings the A Team, Sheeran has many hits and after his album comes out he will be more likely to headline festivals than to play lunchtime sets on the Obelisk Arena.

Suede: headlining the Obelisk Arena on the Sunday night, Suede are a band who never fail to deliver amazing performances. Their music was huge in the early nineties, capturing on themes of domestic violence and frustration with modern life and putting it into beautiful indie rock with tones of anger and emotion that made them such a powerful band. Now they are back and will provide quite a climax to the festival.

The met office have warned that there is a strong chance of rain, with a risk of heavy rain.

A spokeswoman from the met office has warned “It will also turn windy with gusty conditions making it feel cold.”

It appears that Latitude goers will receive the best of the weather on Friday where there should be sunshine. However according to the met office this sunshine will not last and will be replaced by rain on the Saturday and Sunday.

So essentially those of you going should pack wellies and prepare for fairly cold conditions over the weekend.

Michael Eavis (founder and curator) of Glastonbury has told the Times that the Festival has only got “another three or four years left” to the shock of the nation.

The revelation comes after the Festival has just celebrated over 40 years of success and triumph and literally changed festivals in Britain, and the world, forever.

In a shocking interview with the Times, Eavis revealed that ““It is a very scary business. Womad and Latitude are not selling out. Partly it’s economics, but there is a feeling that people have seen it all before.”

Eavis’s revelation has come despite the Festival enjoying a great year, with tickets selling out in hours and thousands bitterly disappointed to be unable get their hands on them. Performances from the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Beyonce and U2 delivered certainly something special to those who were lucky enough to get wristbands, and yet it seems that Britain’s biggest music festival will not last forever.

His comments come as this Summer, many festivals are struggling to sell their quota of tickets, and it seems that Eavis believes this trough in the market will soon extend it’s way to the infamous Glastonbury Festival.
This lack of tickets sold has driven festival prices down. The most notable example of which comes from Latitude which takes place this weekend (15th July) where tickets are going for under half the original face value.

In an interview with NME before they headlined the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Stage at T In The Park last night (July 9th), band multi-instrumentalist Mike Mogis said: “Hopefully we’ll come back over [to Europe], hopefully we’ll make another record.” When the music magazine asked frontman Conor Oberst whether they were embarking on their last tour, he said: “I don’t think so… We don’t really take anything off the table.”

The band are in the UK this July for a UK tour, playing in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester before playing Latitude Festival.

Scala and Kolacny are a Belgian female choir group. Now for those of you who haven’t heard their unique sound before this may sound a bit dull, but their adaptations of modern classics by bands such as Radiohead and Nirvana are overwhelmingly powerful pieces of music. Moran, who became a mainstream success in the sitcom Black Books alongside Bill Bailey, has also appeared in films such as Shaun Of The Dead and Run, Fatboy, Run. His appearance at the Suffolk event will take place as part of his current UK tour.

Famous for its charged atmosphere and unique Scottish vibe, the three-day event once again has a world-class line-up. Featuring headline sets from Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Foo Fighters, support comes from an incredible line-up including Beyonce, The Strokes, Pulp, The Script, 2manydjs, and My Chemical Romance. Latitude Festival arrives in Suffolk on July 15th, for three days of incredible music in one of the most relaxed festivals in the country. The weekend will see headline performances from The National (Friday 15th), Paolo Nutini (Saturday 16th) and Suede (Sunday 17th). Also appearing on the Obelisk Arena are Bright Eyes, Paloma Faith, The Cribs, My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas and Hurts. On August 20th, V Festival kicks off in Chelmsford (Hylands Park) and Staffordshire (Weston Park). Headlining the two-day event are Eminem and Arctic Monkeys, with support from chart favourites such as Rihanna, Plan B, The Script, Kaiser Chiefs, Manic Street Preachers and Lostprophets. Pendulum and Dizzee Rascal headline the 4Music Stage, with Duran Duran and Chase and Status set to top the bill on The Arena Stage. Both Reading Festival and Leeds Festival take place over the August bank holiday weekend, Friday 26th – Sunday 28th. Headlining the main stage this year are Muse, My Chemical Romance and Pulp and The Strokes, with support coming from Elbow, Interpol, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Offspring, and Jimmy Eat World. Bestival is one of the summer’s latest festivals, but also one of the most critically acclaimed. Featuring a famous incredibly chilled-out atmosphere, the weekend is a frequent award winner, including best major UK festival in 2010. This year’s festival, taking place September 9th – 11th, features headliners Pendulum, The Cure and Primal Scream. Also at the Isle of Wight festival will be PJ Harvey, The Maccabees, Crystal Castle, Chromeo, Robyn, Public Enemy, Fatboy Slim and The Drums.

The Horrors’ frontman Faris Badwan makes his festival debut with his new band Cat’s Eyes at Latitude Festival.

Cat’s Eyes is the creation of Faris Badwan from The Horrors and Canadian opera singer Rachel Zeffira. The duo released their debut album in April and will play their first festival at Latitude in July.

Cat’s Eyes are new additions along with James Blake and Alabama 3. They join headliners Suede, The National and Paolo Nutini.

The New York five-piece are to appear in Edinburgh and Glasgow ahead of their main stage festival slots, where they will appear before headliners The Strokes and Pulp. The band are playing 24 European dates over the summer, following the success of hit fifth album,  High Violet, which reached number 5 in the UK album charts. The two Scottish dates will be the only UK non-festival opportunity for fans to see the dark, haunting melodies overlain by Matt Berninger’s rich baritone. The band are traditionally suited to smaller venues, so the August shows at the Edinburgh Corn Exchange (23rd) and Glasgow O2 Academy (24th) will allow for a more intimate setting in the midst of the numerous festival appearances.

As well as the Scottish dates and Reading and Leeds festivals, The National are also playing Latitude Festival on 15th July.

Following from his 2006 breakthrough These Streets, and the hit 2009 album Sunny Side Up, Nutini has revealed that all tracks have been recorded and just need to be put them in the right order, saying, “it can’t be too long now.” He describes the upcoming record as having “a bigger sort of sound” to his previous albums, and hopes the album will allow for longer festival sets. The Scot has just wowed crowds with a headline slot at Rockness on Sunday night, including smash hits Jenny Don’t Be Hasty and New Shoes.

Indie Folk man Samuel Beam of Iron & Wine has confirmed he will play two nights in London In October.

The first night will be an acoustic set on the 9th of October at Hackney Empire. As an added treat singer-pianist Marketa Irgova from folk-rock band The Swell Season will join him on stage.

The second gig, the following night on the 10th October at O2 Shepherds Bush Empire will see the whole band playing.

Dressed up like a pirate Ant and his Band ‘The Good, The Mad & The Loverly Posse’ rocked the Indigo in London.

Its been a turbulent few years for Ant who was charged  in 2002  for throwing a car alternator at the Prince of Wales pub in Kentish Town and scaring the bar staff with an imitation gun. He was sectioned in 2003 after threatening to smash his neighbours patio doors with a shovel, later being found naked in the basement of a cafe. The star has been diagnosed with Bipolar.

A little stumble on stage but Adam picked himself up, dusted himself off and continued with the set. Adam Ant has put the drama back into his music we welcome and celebrate the prince charming’s return.

David O’Doherty will host the first ever festival version of the BBC Two panel show, with Phill Jupitus and Noel Fielding as team captains.

The show will take place on the Saturday morning of the event, which takes place on the Henham Park Estate in Southwold, Suffolk, on July 14 to 17.

Buzzcocks has been running since 1996 and is currently without a permanent presenter, going the ‘Have I Got News For You’ route by having a different guest presenter for each episode of the series.

He’s also currently working on a brand new album – the follow-up to 2009′s Sunny Side Up, which will be released later this year.
Sunny Side Up has sold over two million copies and was the biggest selling record by a male artist in 2009, as well as one of the biggest sellers of 2010.

The Scottish crooner will also headline the second night of Suffolk’s Latitude Festival.

The National, Paolo Nutini and Suede will headline the festival which will also include Foals, Bright Eyes, comedian Dave Gorman and a Q&A with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.

The sixth edition of the festival will once again take place at Henham Park, near Southwold from July 14-17, and will feature a mix of music and arts performers.

A fourth headline act, who has not been confirmed, will perform on the main stage at midday on the final day of the festival. Radiohead’s Thom Yorke has previously performed in the slot, with revellers leaving their tent earlier that usual to catch his acoustic set of Radiohead and solo numbers.

“I wouldn’t want to make another record that I look back on and regretted again. Whether anyone else hears what we’ve been writing recently hasn’t been set in stone. Unless it turns out to be outstanding, then no-one will ever hear it.”

Whether they decide to continue past these dates depends on the quality of the songs they’re currently recording.

The cautious front man said “It depends on what happens with writing. I don’t know how long you can go on tour with playing songs from the past.”

The band are headlining Latitude Festival this summer, as well as playing a trio of nights at London’s Brixton Academy in May.

The Pigeon Detectives have been confirmed to support James throughout their December UK tour.

They played an Eden Session at Cornwall’s famous complex of biomes The Eden Project recently in support of indie stalwarts Doves, and after opening with album title track Sigh No More, songs such as The Cave, Little Lion Man and Roll Away Your Stone went down a treat with the crowd. Frontman Marcus Mumford announced to the crowd at one point that it was their first ever show in Cornwall, but one got the feeling that it would not be their last.

The Eden Session only served to whet fans’ appetite for more shows, but luckily the band have just announced some: Mumford & Sons tickets are currently on sale for their headline tour of the UK in October 2010 – as well as their multiple festival appearances. A full list of live dates is below:

It is clear that the UK public cannot get enough of Florence Welch and co., and it is easy to see why. On stage Florence floats around like confetti in the wind; her dresses billowing white sheets in high contrast to her flame red hair. Having blown the crowd away at Glastonbury Festival, Florence And The Machine will also play T In The Park, Oxegen Festival, the Summer Series at Somerset House, and headline Latitude Festival.

In addition, Florence And The Machine tickets will go on sale for her performance at Belsonic in Belfast’s Custom House Square on Wednesday 9th July at 09:00.

The festival runs from the 15th to 18th July and will be headlined by Florence and the Machine, Belle and Sebastian and Vampire Weekend. There will also be appearances across the weekend from the likes of Mumford & Sons, James, Rodrigo Y Gabriella, The Temper Trap, The Maccabees and Laura Marling.

Florence performed new singles Strangeness and Charm, and Heavy In Your Arms, a song recorded for the latest Twilight film. As well as these tracks, the crowd were treated to a breathtaking cover of Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain.

Florence and the Machine will be headlining Latitude Festival on Friday 16th July and music fans can expect much more of the same magic showcased at Glastonbury. They have recently announced a tour of the United States to take place this autumn, which comes as they complete work on their eighth studio album. However, what will be more of note to UK fans is that the official band website reveals that there will be news of UK dates to come later this year.

Those fans that cannot wait until then will have a chance to see the Belle And Sebastian at Latitude Festival. The Glaswegians headline Saturday July 17th 2010 above Crystal Castles, The Maccabees, James, Frank Turner, Corinne Bailey Rae and the xx, with many more acts across the three days.

Florence And The Machine, The National, Vampire Weekend and Grizzly Bear headline the two biggest stages on the other days of the festival, and Latitude Festival tickets are on sale now. Weekend tickets are available from £226 through official festival partner Viagogo.

Koenig had something rather different in mind.

He recalled a time when his band played alongside Basement Jaxx in Sweden, and as the dance music kings began to play Where’s Your Head At?, Vampire Weekend donned gorilla suits and jumped around like maniacs.

Pretty rock n’ roll indeed.

Vampire Weekend are one of the three headline acts to be performing at Latitude Festival in Suffolk this year, alongside Florence & The Machine and Belle & Sebastian. Vampire Weekend will close out the Sunday night of the festival, and Latitude Festival tickets are on sale now. Prior to their Latitude slot, Vampire Weekend will play at T In The Park in Scotland, and Oxegen Festival just outside Dublin.
