In a similar mould to sites such as Kickstarter, the fan lead, artist funding website; Detourjam has sprouted up to offer a interactive service for the live music industry.

It is well known, now, that making money in the recorded music business has become notoriously difficult and sits upon a somewhat stale market currently, and that performing your music live is where artists are finding much of their revenue with large corporate sponsorship deals for some of the major artists out there such as Madonna.

In short, Detourjam’s system works by the performers giving the company their tour schedules and then the site offers fans the potential dates to different cities in a race to 100 pledges. The venue with the most pledges wins and details of the gig are announced.

It is still very early days for the internet startup, but things are looking promising for them. Their first race was for a gig by Ninja Tune artist Emika featuring a DJ sets from Micachu and Raisa K was won by London (suprise, suprise…); beating challenges from the likes of Bournemouth, Milton Keynes and York. The current race is for Holy Other, supported by Lapalux and the Haxan Cloak, and is being fought out between Brighton, Bristol, London and Leeds together.

The smash hit singing legend wants fans to submit a minute-long video about themselves. If they qualify, they will then have the opportunity to dance in front of her, and potentially become part of the tour. The competition comes as a collaboration with Smirnoff Vodka. Madonna said of the project: “What attracted me to the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project is the combination of participating in the celebration of nightlife around the world and the opportunity to discover the world’s best unknown dancers. The best dancers are always in the clubs looking for the most original experience, just like Smirnoff are doing.”

Although no firm dates have been announced, the tour is expected to take place in 2012.

The 39-year-old Australian singer, who left Savage Garden in 2001, will release new single Talk Talk Talk on June 24th. The exclusive iTunes b-side for the single will be a cover of Madonna’s Angel, whilst a limited edition hand-numbered 7″ vinyl will contain a live acoustic b-side of Talk Talk Talk. The single was written, recorded and produced in Sweden with the renowned Carl Falk. Hayes signed a deal with Mercury Records/Universal Music Australia in April, and shortly after it was announced they would release the album in mid-2011. However, so far no album details have been released.

Including hits with Savage Garden, Hayes has amassed over 25 million album sales worldwide. He is widely expected to go on tour in late 2011, but only one date has been announced so far, at Manchester’s Academy on December 31st.

Rihanna and Britney Spears put on a raunchy show at the Billboard awards on Sunday. Dressed up in bondage style outfits and dancing provokedly round a pole before sealing the performance with a kiss.

Parents are in uproar,  protesting that it had no place on prime time telly at 8pm on a Sunday evening:

“The overtly sexualized performance by Rihanna and Britney Spears was no accident or mishap, but a deliberate effort to target teens with images and lyrics that glamorize whips, chains and other sexual fantasies.”

It wont be the first time for either pop princess to cause controversy. Last year Rihanna was investigated over her performance with Christina Aguilera on the X Factor and  this is all just deja vu for Britney who created a stir when she kissed Madonna at the VMA’s in 2003.

Britney Spears’s Femme Fatale is currently the official number one following its release last week, with Adele’s sophomore effort sitting at number three.

If predictions are proved correct, though, Spears would move down to the runner-up position while Adele would claim a fourth non-consecutive week at number one in the US.

The Tottenham songstress is also on course to claim an 11th consecutive week at number one here in the UK, following her smashing records set by The Beatles and Madonna last week. Her chart ubiquity shows no signs of ceasing.

The London singer’s debut album ‘On A Mission’ is currently at Number Two in the midweek charts, behind Adele’s ’21′, which is on course to make it 11 weeks at Number One.

The record – Spears’s seventh in total – sold 276,000 copies to top the tally, fending off competition from Wiz Khalifa’s Rolling Papers, which shifted 197,000 units at number two.

However, the sales figure marks the singer’s second-lowest opening-week sales to date, ahead of her debut …Baby One More Time, which entered with sales of 121,000.

Adele’s debut, 19 is currently at number two after a total of 107 weeks in the UK top 40.

The much-anticipated Adele UK tour is set to get under-way this month, with the singer set to perform shows in Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, Southampton and London.

Adele’s second album, ’21′, has spent nine weeks at the top of the charts and has sold six-times platinum. This equals Madonna’s ‘Immaculate Collection’, which achieved the same feat in 1990.

This continues an incredible run of success for Adele, both in the album and singles charts.

Adele has broken a record held for 21 years by Madonna by holding the top spot for nine consecutive weeks. Madge’s ‘The Immaculate Collection’ held the top spot for nine weeks in 1990.

The Strokes said last week that they were already planning to start work on the follow up, with plenty of material left over from the ‘Angles’ sessions.

Speculation is strong that U2 will fill one of the headline slots after being unable to perform at last year’s event. Kylie Minogue is another name set to be confirmed, with acts such as Beyoncé, Coldplay, Madonna, Prince and Radiohead also being discussed.

A source close to the American star told the Daily Mirror, “It’s going to be her biggest, most unexpected tour to date. She is going back to her New York City roots, with a street / hip-hop feel, and wants to make it a physical, dance-heavy set of gigs.”

With her last album, Hard Candy, coming out in 2008, and its associated tour Sticky & Sweet ending in 2009, the time is right for the Queen Of Pop to make her return, and news of Madonna tickets will be released shortly.

“My name is Lady Gaga and I used to sit right over there, way far in the back and way up top,” she said during the performance. “I used to stare at this side of the room, and I used to think, ‘I’m gonna be up there’. Every second you watch me on this stage, you remember, I was sitting where you are.”

Lady GaGa put on her usual extravagant show for the sell-out crowd, performing hits from her album The Fame Monster as well as going through numerous set and costume changes.

After her three night residency at the prestigious New York venue, Lady GaGa will continue to appear at venues across North America, before bringing her Monster Ball tour back to the UK at the end of the year.

Speaking to MTV, Akerlund compared Lady GaGa’s “hard-work” to that of Madonna’s and stated that “GaGa has all the potential and all the tools and all the brain to take her creativity as far she wants to.”

Whitney Houston’s involvement at the 37th American Music Awards has just been taken to a whole new level as she is preparing to receive a special award, the International Music Award, at the show on 22nd November in Los Angeles.  This award has only been presented seven times in the event’s 37-year-long history,to artists who in the organisers’ opinion have reached truly global superstar status.  Previous recipients include Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Led Zeppelin, Bee Gees, Aerosmith, Madonna and Beyonce Knowles, a list that is perhaps as notable for its omissions as it is for its inclusions.

Most of the artists with new album chart entries this week have also got their headline UK tours coming up.

The Newton Faulkner tour is taking place this month and tickets are still available for shows including the York Grand Opera House (October 14), Salford Lowry Centre (October 19) and the London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire (October 20).

Paramore kick off their tour at the Glasgow SECC and Clyde Auditorium on December 10 before playing at the Birmingham National Indoor Arena (December 11), Cardiff International Arena (December 14), Manchester Evening News Arena (December 16) and the Brighton Centre (December 17) before drawing the Paramore tour to a close at the London Wembley Arena (December 18).

The Ian Brown tour will take place across November and December, playing at venues like the London Brixton O2 Academy (December 4 & 5), Leeds O2 Academy (December 10 & 11) and the Manchester Evening News Arena (December 19).

Wembley Stadium cost approximately £750 million to build and various events have been held there to help recuperate the funds, such as music concerts, American football matches and motor racing.

Music industry insiders claim that any accusations made by the Football Association that music concerts were to blame were simply misguided.

This echoes the sentiments of Arsenal FC manager, Arsene Wenger, who defends the idea that music concerts were to blame and argues that the Wembley pitch was never really in good condition right from the start when Wembley Stadium opened in 2007.

One source claims that having these different events at Wembley Stadium, London allows different types of grass to be tested and is actually a benefit to the ground staff of the venue.

Following on, it was claimed that having seen no problems at the old Wembley Stadium, it was just a matter of getting the climate right in order to find the correct grass surface.

Concerts held at Wembley Stadium, London so far have come from Metallica and Madonna.

Metallica are due to play at Sonisphere at Knebworth House, Stevenage during the weekend of August 1-2.

Madonna is also on the road this summer with the ‘Sticky & Sweet Tour’ and is due to play the London O2 Arena and the Manchester MEN Arena in July.

Concerts coming up at Wembley Stadium, London are AC/DC, Take That, Oasis, U2 and Coldplay, with the pitch scheduled to be re-laid again after these summer concerts.

AC/DC will play Wembley Stadium, London on Friday June 26 but will also play Hampden Park, Glasgow on Tuesday June 30.

Take That tour their current album, The Circus, throughout the UK and will play four shows at Wembley Stadium, London from Wednesday July 1.

Oasis also tour the UK playing at Wembley Stadium, London three times from Thursday July 9.

U2 bring the 360º tour to Wembley Stadium, London twice from Friday August 14.

Coldplay also perform at Wembley Stadium, London twice from Friday September 18.

Britney is currently on tour in the US before she makes her way over to Europe. The UK leg of the 2009 Britney Spears Circus tour kicks off at the London O2 Arena June 3. Britney Spears will perform seven further dates at the O2 Arena. Britney Spears will also play one date at the Manchester Evening News Arena on June 17th. The American songstress will play the Manchester Evening News Arena on June 17 2009 as part of the her forth coming ‘Britney Spears The Circus Tour’.

The pop princess has decided to supplement her already sold out nine date residency at London’s O2 Arena this June with one final UK show in the north of England. It had previously been rumoured that Madonna would be joining Britney on stage during the UK leg of her world tour, however this now seems unlikely following Madonna’s own announcement of a UK tour this coming July in the O2 Arena and also MEN Arena (July 4 July 5 July 7).

Tickets for Britney Spears’ Manchester show go on sale tomorrow (Feb 13) at 9am. Tickets are still available for the O2 shows and are available from £49.50

Meanwhile extra Madonna tickets are also on sale tomorrow (Feb 13) while tickets remain available for her earlier shows at prices starting from £101

Due to the overwhelming demand for tickets to see Madonna in concert, two further dates have been added. Madonna will play an additional date at each venue.

The ‘Queen of Pop’ is preparing to hit the road once more for a string of new shows this summer, aiming to perform in European cities that were not covered during her record breaking 2008 ‘Sticky Sweet Tour’.

Demand for Madonna Tickets will undoubtedly be immense coming so soon after the monumental success of The Sticky & Sweet Tour, which began last August in Cardiff, travelling to over seventeen countries and finishing in Sao Paolo Brazil last December to become the highest-grossing tour ever by a solo artist with £193 million.

The Madonna tour starts in London’s O2 Arena (July 4), before moving on to Manchester’s MEN Arena (July 7), Werchter’s Festivalpark, Belgium (July 11), Milan’s San Siro (July 14), Barcelona’s, Olympic Stadium (July 21), Madrid’s, Vicente Calderon (July 23),Hamburg’s Trab-Arena  (July 28), Oslo’s Vallehovin (July 30), Tallinn’s Song Festival Ground, Estonia (August 4), Helsinki’s West Harbour (August 6), Gothenburg’s Ullevi Stadium (August 9), Copenhagen’s Parken Stadium (August 11), Prague’s Chodov National Amphitheatre (August 13), Warsaw’s Bemowo (August 15) and Munich’s Olympic Stadium (August 18).
