The Manchester band are the first confirmed headliner for next year’s Benicassim, which is due to take place from July 12th to 15th. They are also the first act confirmed for Scotland’s T In The Park, which takes place from July 6th to 8th.

The festival appearances will form part of the band’s world tour, with even more UK dates expected to be announced in the coming months.

Stone Roses tickets for the band’s Heaton Park shows on the 29th June, 30th June and 1st July, as well as their Benicassim appearance are on sale now. Tickets for next year’s T in the Park festival will go on sale on 2nd December.

Manchester United are always an intimidating team to face, but after looking invincible for so much of the season, their form has dipped at a time when they may need it most. An embarrassing loss to Wolves, a laboured victory over Crawley Town, and a crucial defeat to Chelsea may suggest it is a good time to face the red devils. Upcoming games against Liverpool and Marseille could also mean Sir Alex Ferguson may take his eye off the FA Cup.

Arsenal are also in an erratic run of form. A team that beat Barcelona could only draw with Leyton Orient in the FA Cup four days later. They may have smashed Orient 5-0 in the replay at the Emirates, but only after a devastating loss to Birmingham in the Carling Cup Final. Similar to United, the Gunners also have a huge match four days before the quarter-final with a visit to Barcelona.

Manchester United play to win in every competition, but it may be that Arsenal can spring a surprise as they are desperate to win some silverware. Both teams are fighting hard in the league and it could well be that whoever rolls the dice and brings out the big players, rather than too many reserves, will progress to the semi-finals.

Although the Premier League title may not yet be completely out of grasp for any members of the top five, fans will be desperate for their teams secure a Champions League place first and foremost. Currently,  just three points seperate third place Manchester City from fifth place Tottenham.

Chelsea have seemingly overcome the huge blip which saw their league position tumble. An expensive January transfer window has led to better performances from Carlo Ancelotti’s side, although they still have not hit top gear yet, as shown by the loss against Liverpool and draw against Fulham. Chelsea are desperate for inspiration from £50 million man Fernando Torres . Despite this, they still overcame Manchester United on Tuesday, coming from a goal down and demonstrating their desire to reclaim their crown.

Manchester City are not exactly in top form either, winning only one of their last five league games. Their talented squad appears to be gelling well, however, and they have plenty of strength and depth to call upon as the end of season games pile up. They have played one game more than both Chelsea and Spurs, so a win against Chelsea will be vital in maintaining third place.

Both teams are currently suffering from somewhat inconsistent form, and the Stamford Bridge tie could prove pivotal for both side’s current Premier League campaign. Chelsea currently sit in 5th position, six points adrift of leaders Manchester United, whilst Roy Hodgson’s Liverpool are in 9th, 10 points behind Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Both Chelsea and Liverpool FC are expected to become active during the current transfer window, with the Anfield side in particular looking to make a number of signings in order to get their season on track. Rumours are suggesting that Roy Hodgson will have a significant amount of money to play with, in order to help his side move up the table.
