The Shins to release new record

It has been revealed today that the Shins will release a new album in 2012, which will be their first new record since their 2008 effort Wincing the Night Away.

The Shins are famed for their tranquil and melancholic songwriting, with hits such as New Slang, Australia and Sealegs, they are a much loved band. There will however be a change in the line up of the group for their forthcoming mini US tour. James Mercer will play with Richard Swift, Jessica Dobson, Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse) and Yuuki Matther (Crystal Skulls).

Modest Mouse to record album with Big Boi

Rapper Big Boi has reveled he will be working with Modest Mouse on their new album.

Big Boi, real name Antwan Patton, revealed the news through a series of Twitter posts.

“Me and @mouche1 in the studio workin with Modest Mouse on their new album Turnt up ! Shout out to Issac Brock and the crew!,” Patton tweeted.

He later added: “Been camped out in the Lab with Modest Mouse all week, workin on the new Mouse LP, coolest cats ever. Long Live The Funk.”

Modest Mouse tickets: Band to tour UK this September

Modest Mouse will embark on a mini UK tour after their appearance at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals. The band will perform shows at Edinburgh HMV Picture House, Newcastle O2 Academy, Liverpool O2 Academy and The Troxy in London at the beginning of September.

Modest Mouse tickets are available now and trading from £16. Ticket prices for their final UK show this year at The Troxy on Wednesday 8th September start at £20 from Seetickets and Gigantic.

Modest Mouse will appear on the main stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals, on the same day as both The Libertines and Arcade Fire.

A host of names were announced to perform at this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals as tickets went on sale yesterday evening. Rumours came to life as Blink 182, Arcade Fire and Guns ‘N’ Roses were confirmed as headliners, and The Libertines, Biffy Clyro and Paramore were also confirmed.
