British singer Adele leads the way with three nominations in total, including Best Female Artists. The news comes as the September Adele tour resumed this week, following the singer’s illness.

5. The National- England- The National played a very special set on the Saturday evening at the Reading site and here is their rendition of England from their High Violet album:

3. The Strokes- Hard To Explain- The Strokes delivered their ambivalent indie rock to Reading and Leeds with great aplomb. They sent the crowds into rapturous frenzy and must be regarded as one of the highlights of Reading and Leeds 2011. Here is Hard to Explain.

2. Muse- Intro and New Born- Muse wowed fans during their headline performances at Reading and Leeds. They had an amazing stage which threw out fire at points and added to their very special performance. Have a look at their opening number below.

1. Pulp- Disco 2000- Pulp continued their much acclaimed come back Summer with two stunning sets at Reading and Leeds Festivals. They induced two of the biggest sing alongs throughout the weekend and Disco 2000 is our number 1 highlight.

Pulp will also be going on to perform two very special shows at London’s Brixton Academy on August 31st and September 1st.

The current forecast for today is rain, but it is set to clear up tomorrow and by Sunday should be dry with sunshine. Fans heading to the main stage today will not let the wet weather dampen their spirits as they watch headliners Muse, who have promised to play the entirety of hit album, Origin Of Symmetry, in full. Also appearing are Elbow, Interpol, and Friendly Fires, with 2manydjs and The Streets headlining the NME/Radio 1 tent.

Tomorrow will see My Chemical Romance headlining the main stage with Beady Eye topping the bill of the NME/Radio 1 tent. Sunday will see an incredible finale of The National, The Strokes and finally Pulp to close the festival.

The first day will see My Chemical Romance headline the main stage in their first Reading show in five years. Also appearing on the main stage are Thirty Seconds To Mars and The Offspring. Beady Eye will headline the NME/Radio 1 tent.

Last time they performed at the festivals (in 2006) they were bottled off stage so there is evidently a certain degree of anxiety for them going in to the weekend. The lead singer Gerard Way told the Daily Star, “We haven’t felt like we’ve had anything to prove in a long time, so maybe this is the right time to do that.”

He went on to add, “We’re closing a festival where not everyone has approved of us in the past.” The comments surely indicate that they are saving something special for Reading and Leeds Festivals. Acts also on the bill include Muse, The Strokes and The Streets.

Previously the band indicated that their current tour could be their last, and this was further suggested when Jared Leto (leadsinger) spoke to Kerrang this week.

He told the magazine, “A lot of artists peak or get burned out. A lot of times they stop trying and those are all dangers. It took two years to make ‘This Is War’. Touring it has been another two years. Do I have that in me again? I don’t know.”

The band will be performing at this weekend’s Reading and Leeds Festivals along with the likes of My Chemical Romance and Muse.

The National will be performing at this weekend’s Reading and Leeds Festivals alongside the likes of Pulp, The Streets and Muse.

Now in an interview with the NME, the band have strongly hinted that they will also get out some of their biggest hits during the encore. The band’s drummer Dom Howard said, “We’ll probably just do the old cheap encore and play a few hits!” This news will surely excite fans who are desperate to hear them play songs such as Time Is Running Out and Hysteria as well as the classics on Origins of Symmetry. However it remains to be seen which hits they will be bring out.

Muse have also revealed that they intend to get back in the studio following their performances at Reading and Leeds Festivals this weekend.

5. The National- This band have risen from the underground and on to the mainstream radar due to their heart-breaking and melancholic sound. Their live shows are always powerful as well and will be full of heart stopping moments and mass sing alongs. They are performing on the Main Stage on the Saturday evening at Reading and Sunday at Leeds.

4. Bombay Bicycle Club- Bombay Bicycle Club are going from strength to strength at the moment and on the eve of the release of their third record, they now have a back catalogue of hits that makes for a great live show. They are performing on the NME/ Radio 1 Stage on Saturday evening at Reading and Sunday at Leeds.

3.  Little Roy- This reggae act are renowned for their amazing covers of Nirvana songs. They offer something different from the endless cast of rock bands performing over the weekend and should definitely not be missed. They are performing on the Saturday evening at Reading and Sunday evening at Leeds on the Festival Republic Stage.

2. Muse- Muse are the biggest stadium rock band in the world at the moment and their live show is the closest you may come to an out of this world experience. They will be performing their Origins of Symmetry album in full (and maybe a few surprise tracks) to finish off the Friday at Leeds and Sunday at Reading.

1. Pulp- Reformed this year for a Summer of festival appearances, they have been wowing fans at every turn thus far. They are sure to bring out all their classic hits such as Disco 2000 and Common People and will be headlining Leeds’s Main Stage on Sunday night and playing before The Strokes at Reading on the Saturday.

According to BBC Weather, there will be thundery showers at Reading on Thursday with more rain expected for Friday. Saturday will be sunny and dry however, with highs of 19 degrees Celsius. Sunday meanwhile will be partly cloudy with sunny spells.

Over at the Leeds site, there will be sunny intervals with highs of 18 degrees Celsius on Thursday. There is a surprising risk of hail showers on the Friday but the Saturday and Sunday should be mostly dry, with plenty of sun on Saturday and highs of 19 degrees Celsius.

At the moment the punk/emo rockers are touring the US with Blink 182 and they have now announced that they plan to get back in the studio once these touring commitments are finished. Their current tour is in support of the band’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Kill Joys album and now fans can get excited by the prospect of their follow up to this seminal rock record.

A source told the Sun that Elton John is a huge fan of the British band, whose name has been linked to an Olympic performance. The source said: “Elton has never put on subtle live shows but he wants the Olympic gig to be more overblown and spectacular than ever. He’s been a huge fan of Matt Bellamy’s band for years and is desperate to collaborate with them.”

The source continued: “A show during the London Olympics will be the ideal opportunity. And with Muse’s reputation as one of the best live groups in the world it’s bound to be special.”

The band were nominated for their critically acclaimed second album, The English Riviera, which was released in April. They compete against artists including PJ Harvey, Adele and James Blake. In an interview with SpinnerMusic, frontman Joe Mount questioned the award’s purpose: “They made this thing to help give coverage to bands or acts that were deserving of it but weren’t getting it. Adele obviously has to be included, because she’s having this incredible year. But the award for her is totally useless. You win £20,000 and you get loads of publicity. She really doesn’t need it.”

He continued: “She might be deserving of it. If no one had heard of her then she would be the perfect person to give it to, but everyone’s heard of her. The idea is that you give it to a band or an act that really needs the coverage, and maybe needs the money as well.”

The award will be announced on September 6th. Metronomy will embark on a UK tour, playing many intimate venues, on September 21st.

The Festival takes place at London’s Imperial War Museum and runs until August 21st and will give kids an exciting insight into war literature through workshops and activities. On August 17th kids will have the chance to build their own War Horse, while on August 21st there will be a drama workshop.

Pulp are brit-pop superstars who have recently come back to play a Summer of festivals, while The Strokes are New York’s indie giants who many claim to be the best indie band of the 21st century. With such illustrious careers deciding who should headline above the other was always going to be difficult, but now the headline title will be shared with Pulp to finish off the night at Leeds (they are a northern band) and The Strokes will do the same at Reading.

Also playing on the Reading and Leeds bill this year are acts including My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds to Mars and Muse.

The singer of one of the world’s biggest bands posted a message on Twitter, questioning the motive of the rioters: “A violent expression of unfairness in society or just dumb f***s yearning for a hug from daddy? This is no Uprising.” It is thought the use of the capitalised word Uprising is a reference to the Muse song of the same name.

He told Zane, “September and October, that’s when we’re going to get into the studio to start writing the new album.” This news that the band will definitely get back in the studio following their tour ending performance at Reading and Leeds Festivals will delight their fans.

The band will play their classic album Origins of Symmetry at Reading and Leeds and their show is sure to be the ultimate blow out to the Festivals.

In the interview, Chris went on to confirm that the band will definitely tour again.

“We’re always going to be the kind of band that want to get out and play live. As the years go on there’s that temptation to cut the touring down less and less but we still love playing live. I can’t ever imagine we’ll be the kind of band that cut the touring down significantly.”

The Sunday Mirror today has reported that Carla Bruni has written to the former Libertines front man Pete Doherty about making an album together.

Doherty is set to play several shows in France this Summer and speculation has arisen that he will meet up with the French first lady during this tour.

Doherty is also playing this year’s Reading and Leeds Festivals along with the likes of the National, Muse and Pulp.

Little Roy is an unusual artist who has covered several Nirvana songs with his reggae stylings. While Young Legionnaire are a new band who feature The Automatic guitarist Paul Mullen and Gordon Moakes who is the ex bassist for Bloc Party.

The two acts added to the bill will join the likes of Muse, Pulp, The Strokes and My Chemical Romance who will all play on the main stage at the festivals in what is an amazing line up.

Bellamy is renowned for his rather adventurous ambition at times, and this can be seen as a prime example. He is recorded to have said, “We’re trying to blag a free trip on it [Virgin Galactic]. I’m going to try to convince Richard Branson to let us make a music video or record a song up there. I think that would be cool. Would I be scared? I think I’ll be alright.”

The idea of a music video in space is perhaps something only Muse could dream of, and they certainly have the money for it. Whether or not it is simply a far off dream or if it actually happens remains to be seen.

This coming weekend (July 8th-10th) sees T In The Park descend into Balado, Scotland. Famous for its charged atmosphere and unique Scottish vibe, the three-day event once again has a world-class line-up. Latitude Festival arrives in Suffolk on July 15th, for three days of incredible music in one of the most relaxed festivals in the country. The weekend will see headline performances from The National (Friday 15th), Paolo Nutini (Saturday 16th) and Suede (Sunday 17th). Also appearing on the Obelisk Arena are Bright Eyes, Paloma Faith, The Cribs, My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas and Hurts. On August 20th, V Festival kicks off in Chelmsford (Hylands Park) and Staffordshire (Weston Park). Bestival is one of the summer’s latest festivals, but also one of the most critically acclaimed. The dress, worn by Gaga to the 2010 MTV movie awards, generated widespread controversy. Fashioned from pieces of raw flesh by designers Franc Fernandez and Nicola Formichetti, the dress is to be the centrepiece of an exhibition entitled Women who rock: Vision, Passion, Power. Although given preservatives to prevent rotting, reports suggest the dress now resembles a “sort of jerky.” The exhibition will cover two entire floors of the museum in Cleveland, Ohio.

West End LIVE is an initiative which showcases a world-class lineup of theatre in Trafalgar Square, with over twenty of the best West End shows taking part. Also present over the two-day event this weekend (June 18th and 19th) are live bands and interactive exhibits from top museums and galleries. It allows audiences to see segments of shows entirely for free in an open-air setting in the city centre. Although normally situated in Leicester Square, redevelopment has resulted in the festival moving to Trafalgar Square this year.

Members of the Priscilla Queen of the Desert cast were on hand at the launch to show off hits from the critically acclaimed musical that follows the story of drag queen Mitzi Mitosis’ journey with his friends across the Australian desert. The show can be seen in full at The Palace Theatre.

Rapper Kanye West joins the Kooks, White Lies and Interpol at the festival. He makes one appearance in the UK in this summer at The Big Chill Festival.

Fiery fashion vixen and front-woman of Florence and the Machine, Florence Welch, has been confirmed as the new face of Gucci.

Gucci creative director Frida Giannini said that Florence had been the inspiration behind this years autumn collection  ”As I was imagining this collection I was thinking of a strong and somewhat mysterious muse. Florence is that kind of woman. She has a powerful personality and an entrancing quality to her performances.”

Fiery Florence will take to the Gucci stage, not in her usual role as a singer but as a model, wearing the autumn-winter collection of lower hemlines, long sleeves and flowing garments.

Speaking to NME, drummer Dominic Howard said, “Matt showed me a few chords recently. Who knows, it might be softer rock, but then it’s up to me and Chris to make it heavy again. A heavy rock lullaby! But I’m sure it will move forward in some way.”

Bassist Chris Wolstenholme revealed that the group would begin work after this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival headline appearances. “We’ve got Reading Festival in August and maybe a few weeks off after that. So September, October time we’ll get into the studio and start writing and working on the songs.”rem

Bono and Larry Mullen appeared on stage together in the club to perform a cover of Talking Head’s ‘Psycho Killer’, and were joined by Muse drummer, Dom Howard.

The Edge then proceeded to take over vocal duties, and sung renditions of The Rolling Stones’ ‘Miss You’ and David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance’.

Football legend Ronaldo also performed ‘I Can’t Get No Satisfaction’ by the Stones at the bar in Sao Paulo.

The news follows on from U2′s recent smashing of the ‘Biggest Tour Ever’ record, with the Irish band having surpassed the £340 million ($558m) gross mark set by the Rolling Stones back in 2007.

The two-day event is to take place on August 19 and August 20 at the Aviation Museum Ground in Krakow. Other acts that have been confirmed include Interpol and You Me At Six.

In the five years since its debut, the organisers have attempted to transform the event into a classic summer festival. “The event is extending its range with guitar music and is changing its profile from a city festival to a classic summer festival,” says Mikołaj Ziółkowski of Alter Art.

The festival has previously played host to Muse, 30 Seconds to Mars and My Chemical Romance.

The Kooks recently revealed that they are going to let fans decide where they perform in the UK this summer.

It is rumoured that the band’s frontman Chris, 34, is a top contender for Olympic bosses, and they are desperate to get the band on board.

“Chris is at the top of the list to front the official record. He’s a huge star and a British musical icon, with an international profile,” an insider told British newspaper The Daily Mirror. “We’re pulling out all the stops to get hold of him, ideally with the rest of Coldplay involved, too.”

The performance at the opening ceremony next year could reach a TV ¬audience of two billion and is set to go down in history as one of the biggest gigs on record. Coldplay – who are multiple Grammy award winners – would be far accomplished to headline the ceremony.

“Coldplay are the biggest stadium rockers in Britain today and their style of anthemic music would be perfect for the Olympics. It needs to be something inspirational,” the source continued. “The hope is that they would perform at the opening ceremony, as well as produce a recording of the track, which could help fund good causes in British sport.”

The opening ceremony on is on July 27 2012, and is currently being masterminded by director Danny Boyle, who is famous for helming films including Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire.

Other artists being approached to appear at the opening ceremony are Joss Stone, Muse and Damon Albarn.

Olympic spokesman Richard Crowe confirmed the Cultural Olympiad was looking for a contemporary artist, such as Coldplay or Muse. The final decision however is up to The Dartington Hall Trust – who bosses have appointed to commission the Olympic track.

A spokesman said they are in the early stages, but are holding out for the right artist.

During her visit to European Organisation for Nuclear Research – known as CERN, where the Collider, a high energy particle accelerator is based – Katie chatted to Buzz about the possibilities of performing either on the moon or in a space ship.

She also performed three songs for the staff, ‘Nine Million Bicycles’, ‘I Cried For You’, and a new track called ‘Walk Lightly On The World’, which has been penned especially for Opel/Vauxhall’s green campaign, for which Katie is the brand ambassador.

Katie, 26, is no stranger to performing in unusual places, as in 2006, she set the world record for the deepest concert when she played at the bottom of the North Sea.

The singer underwent extensive medical tests and survival training in Norway before she was allowed to sing for workers on the Statoil Troll A gas rig, which is 303 metres below sea level.

She said at the time: “This was definitely the most surreal gig I have ever done. It took nine minutes to go from the main part of the gas platform down to the bottom of the shaft in a lift.

“Giving a concert to the workers there was something really extraordinary and an occasion that I will remember all my life.”

Other artists who have expressed an interest in performing in space include rockers Muse and ZZ Top.

The ‘Starlight’ band were confirmed as headliners last week for the August 26th/28th festival.

Using Twitter, singer Matt Bellamy posted “So we’ll probably play Origin in it’s entirety (as well other songs) at Reading/Leeds as it will be 10 years since it came out (sic),” continuing with “Just wanna make sure u crazies get ur tix!”

The band recently admitted that they are going to use their headline slot as an opportunity to perform some of their earlier work for the last time. ‘Origin of Symmetry’ is ten years old this year.

“These are going to be our last gigs for a while, and in some ways I suppose it will feel like we’re drawing a line under one phase of our career,” he said. “Now it feels like the right time to really pull it back and remind ourselves of what we were actually doing ten years ago.”

Matt explains that the band’s first album, ‘Showbiz’, didn’t showcase their potential in the way that the second effort did.

“The first album, to be honest, didn’t really feel like much of a breakthrough. It was on the second album that things really started happening for the band, and when we focused on the live side of things, much more,” he added.

The frontman thinks the nostalgic live shows will be a send-off to the songs that made the band famous ten years ago.

“This is a real one-off. It’s probably the last time some of these songs will ever be played live again, to be honest,” he explained. “Our albums have always been about moving forward, sound-wise, and the next one will continue with that.”

Muse, originally from Devon and consisting of Matt Bellamy, Christopher Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard, have sold over ten million albums worldwide.

“It was on the second album that things really started happening for the band, and when we focused on the live side of things much more.

Muse will headline Reading on Sunday and Friday in Leeds, with support from Elbow, Interpol, Friendly Fires, Enter Shikari, The View, Frank Turner and We Are The Ocean.

Beady Eye, Janes Addiction, 2many DJ’s, White Lies, Crystal Castles, The Streets, Noah and the Whale, Bombay Bicycle Club and Death From Above 1979 have also all been confirmed to appear across the weekend.

Reading Festival will take place at Richfield Avenue from the 26th to 28th August, whilst Leeds Festival will take place at Bramham Park across the same weekend. Weekend tickets will be priced at  around £190, whilst day tickets will be priced at £80.

Organisers have confirmed that the first lineup announcements will be made when the tickets go on sale. Rumours are circulating that the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse could headline this year.

The tour, in the form of a traditional London bus, has been transformed to replicate the music museum which is at the O2 in London and will take to the road over the coming months, visiting schools up and down the country.
