Appearing on Giles Peterson’s show on BBC Radio 1 last night, Yorke said, “The idea is to go out and play next year on and off during the year.”

The musician also revealed that he is working on a new album as part of his super-band Atoms For Peace alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea.

Speaking to the NME he commented, “We played at about half past two but were in our bus when it happened about five or six. The weather got mad, I’ve never seen anything like it, it was almost apocalyptic. It was pitch black like night but was only 5 o’clock.”

“He went on to add, The freakiest part was that it went dead silent and for a festival that isn’t something that usually happens. Then people were just running away. A tree had fallen in the backstage area and a branch had gone straight through one of the tents, it was madness.”

The band were due to perform the second of two shows at Parken stadium, but were forced to let down thousands of fans after Williams was told by doctors that he was not fit to perform.

A band statement revealed, “We are truly devastated to have had to cancel tonight’s show in Denmark,

“This is the first show that we have ever had to cancel in our career as a band. It was a horrible decision to make and one we agonized over.

“The five of us then had a decision to make: Should we go on with the show without Rob or should we cancel altogether? What would be fairer to our fans? What would people want? It was a very, very difficult decision. In the end we felt that as this tour is about the five of us being back together, and about celebrating that reunion, it would be wrong to go ahead with the show.”

The band’s record breaking Progress Tour has wowed fans across Europe since May this year, and with only four shows remaining this month, it is unknown whether the Copenhagen show will be re-arranged.

The singer was then joined by Pegg on harmonica for ’A Rush Of Blood To The Head’ track ’Green Eyes’.

Pegg had organised the gig as a tribute to the pub’s former landlord John Parkhouse, who recently passed away.

Ireland’s Jerry Flannery will play no further part in the 2010 RBS Six Nations Championship after he received a six-week ban for a challenge on France winger, Alexis Palisson.

The hooker made a wild hack at Palisson during Ireland’s 33-10 defeat at the Stade de France while the ball was in the Frenchman’s hand, presenting the disciplinary panel with no option other than to ban the player for an act more associated with the round ball than the oval ball.

Green Day won the “Favourite Rock Artist” gong at the 37th American Music Awards in Los Angeles on 22 November.  They scooped the prize in front of favourites Kings of Leon in a show which saw Michael Jackson win four posthumous awards, and Taylor Swift, who won an astonishing five awards including “Artist of the Year”.

As reported by tixdaq.com last week, Whitney Houston took home the coveted International Music Award, an accolade given only seven times in the show’s 37-year history, enthralling the audience last night with a powerful rendition of I Didn’t Know My Own Strength, one of the strongest tracks from her 2009 album I Look to You and the song initially slated as the first single from that album.  Also performing at the awards was American Pop Idol winner Adam Lambert, who shocked and awed the audience with an X-rated performance of For Your Entertainment.

Britain’s Andy Murray has won the opening match at the ATP World Tour Finals in London’s O2 Arena, against US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro.

The 22-year-old from Dunblane took the lead in the round-robin phase in Group A, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in front of over 17,000 spectators.  The ATP World Tour Finals, an end-of-season tournament for the top eight seeded players, are being held in London for the first time, in a residency at the O2 Arena which will last until at least 2012.

The Clash’s London Calling came tearing out of the loudspeakers as the players walked on, and there was a collective sharp intake of breath when Del Potro asked for a timeout only three games into the match – which thankfully turned out to be nothing worse than to stem a troublesome nosebleed.  Del Potro recovered to test properly Murray’s defensive skills, although the Scot’s broad range of defensive and attacking play, not to mention his cool demeanour, meant Murray took the first set 6-3.

Del Potro bounced back in the second, finally finding his groove to take an early break in a set which saw four breaks of serve in total, the last going to Del Potro with one of his massive forehands to take the second set 6-3.

But Murray’s level-headedness remained, as he broke Del Potro in the second game of the third set and rattled off his service game to love.  At 3-0 up Murray applied full throttle and broke again to win the third and final set convincingly at 6-2.

Murray will play Roger Federer next, on Tuesday November 24th.  Federer beat Fernando Verdasco in first evening session at the O2 on Sunday night, struggling to find his feet at first to lose the first set 4-6, before recovering to win the second and third, for the match, at 7-5, 6-1.  Before that match Murray said he was already looking forward to taking on the winner, regardless of who it was, and it’s possible Federer’s faltering in the first third of his match will give Murray enough of a toehold to control the match as he did on Sunday afternoon.

The Arctic Monkeys are set to preview their forthcoming album, Humbug, as they warm up for the 2009 Reading and Leeds Festival.

Arctic Monkeys will be joined by a number of top UK and US acts including Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs, The Prodigy and Radiohead. Last night, Rafael Nadal’s reign as the King of Clay came to an abrupt end at the hands of Robin Soderling, the world’s twenty third seed, at the 2009 French Open at Roland Garros.  The world number one had not lost a match at Roland Garros since making his debut  in 2005, and had looked on course for a record fifth successive French Open title. However,  in one of the biggest upsets in French Open history, Rafael Nadal’s dream of clinching a fifth title was crushed by Robin Soderling.

Robin Soderling will now meet the world number ten, Nikolay Davydenko, in the quarter-finals of the 2009 French Open.

Elsewhere, world number three, Andy Murray, beat Marian Cilic in straight sets to claim his spot in the quarter-finals of this year’s competition.

Camden Crawl returns this weekend to kick off the UK music festival season.

The indie music festival which will be take place this Friday and Saturday (April 24 and 25), has expanded each year since its inception in 2006 to become a distinct highlight on the London music calender.

Friday nights headliners Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be performing in Camden as part of their tour supporting new album It’s Blitz! also headling this weekend will be The Enemy, Kasabian and Echo and the Bunnymen.

Just behind the lustre of the headliners, plenty of breaking acts will have their chance to win over a festival crowd for the first time. Frankmusik (Saturday only); BBC Sound Of 2009 winner Little Boots (Saturday only); Sheffield-via-Jamaica dancehall masher Toddla-T (Saturday only); DJ crossovers Filthy Dukes (Friday only) and Jools Holland favourite VV Brown will all be hoping to open their Camden Crawl accounts with a bang.

Kings Of Leon have recently confirmed a number of additional dates to their North American tour in support their fourth studio album ‘Only By The Night’.

London’s O2 Academy Brixton was host to the surprise return of Blur after a self enforced seven year absence. Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon received an ovation from the crowd of rock royalty attending this year’s NME Award Show.

The former Britpop stars took to the stage for the first time together since splitting in 2002 with the surprise and low key performance of This Is A Low from one the most successful albums of the 90′s Parklife.

This performance marks the official return of Blur as they set out to tour the UK this summer with a live dates including performances at summer festivals T in the Park and Oxegen as well as headline shows at Manchester MEN Arena (June 26) two historical gigs in London’s Hyde Park(July 2 & 3).

The surprise Blur performance acted as the perfect cap to yet another memorable NME awards show which saw Oasis crowned best band and The Cure named Godlike Geniuses, Pete Doherty named best male solo artist and Kings of Leon were rewarded with best album for Only By The Night.

Meanwhile other award recipients included MGMT who took away best new band and best track, The Killers who were named best international band and Muse who once again took home best live band.

In the less rewarding categories NME readers voted for he Jonas Brothers to receive worst band and worst album prizes, while Amy Winehouse was voted the world’s worst dressed woman. However style icon and tv presenter Alexa Chung was voted best dressed.

Elbow were honoured for their outstanding contribution to British music and The Cure won the Godlike Genius Award.

Many of the NME award winners are on tour in 2009.

Oasis will also be playing live in the UK this summer. The Oasis tour kicks off with three shows at Heaton Park in Manchester (June 4, 6 &7). Martin Johnson has opted to change England’s fly-half for the seventh time in 10 matches as Toby Flood has been nominated to take control for the Six Nations trip to face Ireland at Croke Park on Saturday.

As expected, Toby Flood, who had impressed from the bench in the 23-15 defeat to Wales in Cardiff, replaces Andy Goode, who failed to cement his place having started England’s first two games in the championship.

Goode has been included on the bench along with scrum-half Danny Care, who has returned to the squad in place of Paul Hodgson after recovering from an ankle ligament strain.

Toby Flood, last started in the position for England in the heavy defeat to New Zealand at Twickenham last November. In the last 12 months alone, the No 10 shirt has been passed between Jonny Wilkinson, Flood, Goode, Danny Cipriani and Charlie Hodgson.

Meanwhile Ireland who are preparing to face England at Croke Park for the first time since the historic 43-13 victory two years ago have named an unchanged starting XV for the third week in a row.

The sole change from the matches against France and Italy sees Malcolm O’Kelly, who did not make it into the expanded 36-man squad named before this game, replaced in the substitutes by Munster lock and back-row forward Mick O’Driscoll.

Saturday’s match will see out-half Ronan O’Gara win his 90th cap and in doing so he will join O’Kelly, John Hayes and O’Driscoll as the only players to have won over 90 caps for Ireland.
