The festival has now been cancelled and Noah And The Whale’s Charlie Fink has spoken out of his experiences during the tragedy.

Speaking to the NME he commented, “We played at about half past two but were in our bus when it happened about five or six. The weather got mad, I’ve never seen anything like it, it was almost apocalyptic. It was pitch black like night but was only 5 o’clock.”

“He went on to add, The freakiest part was that it went dead silent and for a festival that isn’t something that usually happens. It was a horrible decision to make and one we agonized over.

“The five of us then had a decision to make: Should we go on with the show without Rob or should we cancel altogether? What would be fairer to our fans? What would people want? It was a very, very difficult decision. In the end we felt that as this tour is about the five of us being back together, and about celebrating that reunion, it would be wrong to go ahead with the show.”

The band’s record breaking Progress Tour has wowed fans across Europe since May this year, and with only four shows remaining this month, it is unknown whether the Copenhagen show will be re-arranged.

<a

The host was given the Daytime Emmy Award ‘Crystal Pillar Award’ on Sunday night. She accepted the award with her entire staff from the show via a video clip in Chicago’s Harpo Studios ” we are sorry we couldn’t be there to celebrate. On behalf of the entire team, we thank you for honouring our show, we thank you for 25 years. This show has served as a platform to enlighten and entertain our millions of viewers…. it has been a phenomenon that (none) of us could have imagined in our wildest dreams. None of this would have been possible without the support of the best team in television. Thank You!’

Barbara Walters, Ellen Degeneres, John Travolta, Dr. Oz and Gladys Knight were amongst the celebrities to pay tribute to the legendary talk-show host.

Celine Dion performed and dedicated ‘ Because You Loved Me’ especially for Oprah, live from her sold out show in Las Vegas’s Caesar’s Palace “I’m honoured to be able to participate in this wonderful tribute to my dear friend Oprah. She encouraged the audience to sing along to the lyrics so Oprah knew how much she was loved by everyone.

Celine Dion has returned to Caesar’s Palace after a four year break. The show kicked off in March to rapturous applause. At the same time she opened her store, offering merchandise for fans ranging from $1 to a Leiber Bag for $3,000 – Celine is the only star to have sold such an expensive item of merchandising.

<a

I try. I try telling my brain: stop sending words to the mouth. But I get nervous and turn into my grandma. Behind the eyes it’s pure fear. I find it difficult to believe I’m going to be able to deliver.”

2011 really kicked off for Adele when she sang ‘Someone Like You’ at the BRIT Awards, backed by only a piano. But the Tottenham born star still finds it hard to have faith in her voice and admitted she thought the night would be a “disaster.”

“I was on between Take That and Rihanna, the biggest productions of the night. Andy Roddick however, will play no further part.

Prior to yesterday, the biggest name players to have crashed out of Wimbledon were 8th seed Fernando Verdasco and 11th seed Marin Cilic. Last night, 9th seed David Ferrer was also eliminated after a five set loss to Robin Soderling, but that was no huge surprise given that the Swede was seeded higher at 6th – and Ferrer is far stronger on clay than grass.

The biggest shock yesterday was Andy Roddick’s loss to Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei (formerly Taiwan). The American made it to last year’s final but did not take control of the game with either his serve or his forehand – usually his two finest assets.

After struggling in their first few matches to capture their very best form, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal won convincingly yesterday, and now look close to being back to their best.

On the women’s side, Kim Clijsters won the battle of Belgium as she came from one set down to defeat compatriot Justine Henin. After playing a fairly atrocious first set, Clijsters upped her game admirably to seal a victory, and interestingly Henin has not beaten her fellow Belgian since the pair emerged from retirement. Despite Clijsters’ excellent form, Venus and Serena Williams remain the favourites for the title.

Finally, Andy Murray continues his excellent form at Wimbledon 2010. He is the only player on the men’s side not to have dropped a set so far in the tournament, and overcame the winner of the AEGON Championships at Queens Club, Sam Querrey, with aplomb. Murray will next face the exciting Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the next round, and will hope to up his first serve percentage. The rest of the British number one’s game continues to fire nicely.

<a

Compare and buy Portsmouth vs Blackburn tickets online.

Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce recently claimed that if the Barclays Premier League table was only based on home form, his side would be in the top four. He wasn’t quite right, as Blackburn would be seventh behind Tottenham and Everton on goal difference, with the top four spots occupied by the usual suspects Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool, but he was not far wrong. Rovers currently reside in 11th position in the overall table, but a quick glance at the home league standings shows us two things:

- If Liverpool could match their away form to that of at Anfield they would not be battling to get the fourth Champions League spot.

- Blackburn’s away form must be fairly shocking as they are nowhere near challenging for Europe, let alone the top four.

Liverpool’s season has been covered in great detail elsewhere, but Allardyce’s positive spin on things has been rather less scrutinised. In fact, Blackburn would be in 18th position if away form was all that mattered. Having picked up a paltry six points on their travels from Ewood Park, it would be the understatement of the century to say that much can be improved.

However, Saturday April 3rd 2010 offers a fabulous opportunity to pick up only a second away win of the season. Blackburn will take on Portsmouth at Fratton Park, and although the Hampshire side are showing a great deal of heart in their matches, even without the 9 point penalty for going into administration Portsmouth would be bottom of the league. In the reverse fixture, Blackburn completed a convincing 3-1 victory despite going behind in the 15th minute to a Jamie O’Hara goal.

Last night Portsmouth lost 5-0 at home to Chelsea. While Blackburn are not of the calibre of Carlo Ancelotti’s team, it is another low point for Pompey in a miserable season, and heads inevitably tend to drop – especially after such a drubbing. Blackburn beat notoriously difficult to break down Birmingham City 2-1, thanks to a brace from David Dunn, and this result coupled with a good value draw against Chelsea stands them in good stead for the visit to Pompey. With their last and only other away victory coming in November against the struggling Bolton Wanderers of Gary Megson (who has since been sacked), there will not be a better opportunity for Blackburn to overcome their away demons.

<a

He will also miss the Carling Cup final against Aston Villa as Manchester United look to win their first trophy of the season.

There is further concern for the Old Trafford side after Brazilian starlet Anderson was ruled out of action for the rest of the season after rupturing his cruciate ligament against West Ham on Wednesday night. Anderson had only just returned to the United side after being dropped for an unsanctioned trip home to Brazil, but could only last 19 minutes of the match. In a double blow for the midfielder, he will also miss this summer’s World Cup in South Africa.

The Barclays Premier League is in the final third of the season, and tension is mounting as the title race heats up. Manchester United at least are boosted by the return of Serbian central defender Nemanja Vidic, who will probably line up alongside Jonny Evans until Ferdinand’s return to fitness.

Tixdaq can reveal that there are tickets available to crucial Manchester United games on the horizon, which includes huge games against Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

<a

But what people don’t realise with telly is, when you’re doing a series it’s 12 months out of your life. We always talk about it, me and Pete, we love those characters and would love to do it again. You can never say never.’

For now though, it looks like Peter Kay is set concentrate on his stand-up with a massive schedule planned. Peter Kay tours the UK with the ‘Tour that doesn’t Tour’… tour (tell that one to your mates). Everyone’s favourite Bolton resident - apologies to Vernon Kay – will perform his latest stand-up across the UK, including a huge 20-night residency at the MEN Arena and dates at London’s O2 Arena.

2010 RBS Six Nations Championship after he received a six-week ban for a challenge on France winger, Alexis Palisson.

The hooker made a wild hack at Palisson during Ireland’s 33-10 defeat at the Stade de France while the ball was in the Frenchman’s hand, presenting the disciplinary panel with no option other than to ban the player for an act more associated with the round ball than the oval ball.

Flannery was penalised at the time for his indiscretion though it was obvious that none of the officials got a clear view of the incident as – thanks to the microphone link to the man in the middle – the watching world could hear referee Wayne Barnes admonishing the Munster forward for a late shoulder charge rather than a kick.

The incident symbolised the Irish performance as a whole – positive work undone by ill-discipline and basic errors. Ireland had been awarded a penalty in the seconds before Flannery’s rush of blood only to see it reversed afterwards.

Ireland will need to pick themselves up after losing for the first time in 13 matches with the suspension of Flannery compounded by the almost certain short-term absence of Rob Kearney.

The British and Irish Lions full-back was having a typically inspired afternoon in Paris until he suffered medial ligament damage and was forced off the field, leaving a huge hole in both their defensive line and their counter-attacking capabilities

Declan Kidney’s team travel next to Twickenham to take on England. While the Red Rose is not exactly in full bloom at the moment, Martin Johnson has seen his men record two wins out of two and the 2003 world champions always provide stern opposition on their own patch.

Perhaps it is fortunate that there is a fortnight’s break to allow the dust to settle for both teams with England receiving much criticism for a lacklustre display in their 17-12 win over Italy.

Jonny Wilkinson had an uncharacteristically bad day at the office and while there were glimpses of the promised expansive running game from England, the propensity to kick the ball aimlessly undermined the dynamic threat of Matthew Tait, Rikki Flutey, Delon Armitage, Mark Cueto and Ugo Monye.

So there is much to ponder for both Kidney and Johnson before <a
