Taken from today’s London Evening Standard, here are the hottest open-air gigs and festivals coming up this summer across the City of London. There is plenty to see and do, and this summer looks set to be one of London’s busiest in years, with both the elite forces of Sport and Music all converging on one City. Duran Duran Tickets

The festival takes place at Clune Farm, on the shores of Loch Ness, and the 2012 edition will begin on Friday June 8th. The weekend event is renowned for its mix of great atmosphere and great music, and next year’s festival is sure to be no different. Rockness 2011 featured headline sets from Kasabian, The Chemical Brothers and Paolo Nutini. No doubt fans who buy tickets for 2012 are in for another stellar line-up.

Festival goers had enjoyed a day full of sunshine on the Friday, but will now have to rely on wellies for the remainder of the event.

Paolo Nutini headlined the main stage yesterday evening, and was supported by the likes of My Morning Jacket, the Cribs, Seasick Steve and Rumer. Foals closed the Word Arena.

Suede will bring the festival to a close this evening, following performances throughout the day from Hurts, Glasvegas, Anna Calvi, Eels, Lykke Li and Everything Everything.

Music fans at home can wtach Latitude Festival live online, with coverage set to begin this evening.

The met office have warned that there is a strong chance of rain, with a risk of heavy rain.

A spokeswoman from the met office has warned “It will also turn windy with gusty conditions making it feel cold.”

It appears that Latitude goers will receive the best of the weather on Friday where there should be sunshine. However according to the met office this sunshine will not last and will be replaced by rain on the Saturday and Sunday.

So essentially those of you going should pack wellies and prepare for fairly cold conditions over the weekend.

Headlining this year’s Latitude are Suede, The National and Paolo Nutini. Tickets are still available for the festival online.

Headline performances come from The National (Friday 15th), Paolo Nutini (Saturday 16th) and Suede (Sunday 17th). Also set to appear over the weekend are Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, Eels, Paloma Faith, My Morning Jacket, Bright Eyes, Glasvegas, Lykke Li, KT Tunstall and The Vaccines.

More additions announced this week to the Film & Music Arena include The Hidden Cameras, and Future Cinema presents Old Boy: The Live Film experience featuring Guillemots. On Saturday night, festival goers will see The Faraway Forest transformed into a Narnian adventure for The Winter’s Ball.

Friday night (July 8th) will see headliners Black Eyed Peas take to the main stage, supported by The Script and My Chemical Romance. The Strokes and Swedish House Mafia headline the Vodafone stage, with Leftfield and Calvin Harris topping the bill on the Heineken Green Spheres stage.

Saturday (June 8th) has headliners Foo Fighters supported by Arctic Monkeys and Beady Eye. Paolo Nutini and deadmau5 are top of the bill on the Vodafone stage while Brandon Flowers headlines the Heineken Green Spheres stage.

Closing the festival on Sunday night will be Coldplay, supported by Beyonce and Slash. On the vodafone stage, The National and Pendulum head the line-up, while Primal Scream and Chase & Status top the bill on the Heineken Green Spheres stage.

A host of other world-class bands, as well as an incredible, unique atmosphere have made the festival a favourite on the festival circuit.

Moran, who became a mainstream success in the sitcom Black Books alongside Bill Bailey, has also appeared in films such as Shaun Of The Dead and Run, Fatboy, Run. His appearance at the Suffolk event will take place as part of his current UK tour.

Latitude Festival will take place at Henham Park from the 15th to 17th July, and will again boast a line-up full of intriguing music, comedy and literature acts.

The National will headline the festival on the Friday evening, Paolo Nutini will top the bill on Saturday and Suede will close the festival on the Sunday night. Other acts also confirmed to appear include Bright Eyes, Paloma Faith, The Cribs, My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas, Hurts, Bombay Bicycle Club, Foals, Eels, The Vaccines, Echo & The Bunnymen and Lykke Li.

This coming weekend (July 8th-10th) sees T In The Park descend into Balado, Scotland. Famous for its charged atmosphere and unique Scottish vibe, the three-day event once again has a world-class line-up. Featuring headline sets from Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Foo Fighters, support comes from an incredible line-up including Beyonce, The Strokes, Pulp, The Script, 2manydjs, and My Chemical Romance. T in the Park tickets can be bought from just £161.

Latitude Festival arrives in Suffolk on July 15th, for three days of incredible music in one of the most relaxed festivals in the country. The weekend will see headline performances from The National (Friday 15th), Paolo Nutini (Saturday 16th) and Suede (Sunday 17th). Also appearing on the Obelisk Arena are Bright Eyes, Paloma Faith, The Cribs, My Morning Jacket, Glasvegas and Hurts. Headlining The Word Arena are Bombay Bicycle Club (15th), Foals (16th) and Eels (17th), with The Vaccines, Echo & The Bunnymen and Lykke Li also appearing.

Latitude Festival tickets for the weekend are currently selling for as little as £121.

On August 20th, V Festival kicks off in Chelmsford (Hylands Park) and Staffordshire (Weston Park). Headlining the two-day event are Eminem and Arctic Monkeys, with support from chart favourites such as Rihanna, Plan B, The Script, Kaiser Chiefs, Manic Street Preachers and Lostprophets. Pendulum and Dizzee Rascal headline the 4Music Stage, with Duran Duran and Chase and Status set to top the bill on The Arena Stage. The weekend is a favourite due to regularly world-class headliners and excellent atmosphere.

V Festival weekend tickets are selling from £200 for the Chelmsford event, and £190 for the Hylands Park weekend.

Both Reading Festival and Leeds Festival take place over the August bank holiday weekend, Friday 26th – Sunday 28th. Consistently having some of the best line-ups of the festival circuit has made the weekend a firm favourite of the summer. Headlining the main stage this year are Muse, My Chemical Romance and Pulp and The Strokes, with support coming from Elbow, Interpol, Thirty Seconds to Mars, The Offspring, and Jimmy Eat World. The NME/Radio 1 Stage has headline sets from 2manydjs, Beady Eye and Jane’s Addiction, with The Streets, Death From Above 1979, White Lies, Noah and the Whale, Crystal Castles and Bombay Bicycle Club adding to the excellent line-up.

Reading festival tickets are currently on sale from as little as £135, while Leeds Festival tickets can be bought for £150.

Bestival is one of the summer’s latest festivals, but also one of the most critically acclaimed. Featuring a famous incredibly chilled-out atmosphere, the weekend is a frequent award winner, including best major UK festival in 2010. This year’s festival, taking place September 9th – 11th, features headliners Pendulum, The Cure and Primal Scream. Also at the Isle of Wight festival will be PJ Harvey, The Maccabees, Crystal Castle, Chromeo, Robyn, Public Enemy, Fatboy Slim and The Drums.

Featuring more than 700 acts across more than 30 stages, watched by more than 175,000 people, the festival is renowned worldwide for its great atmosphere and legendary performances.

This year’s Pyramid Stage headline performances come from U2 (Friday 24th), Coldplay (Saturday 25th) and Beyonce (Sunday 26th). Other acts on the infamous main stage include Morissey, Elbow, Laura Marling, Paolo Nutini and Biffy Clyro.

The Other Stage will be headlined by Primal Scream (Friday), The Chemical Brothers (Saturday) and Queens of the Stone Age (Sunday). Also playing the festival’s second stage will be Mumford & Sons, White Lies, Kaiser Chiefs, TV on the Radio, Fleet Foxes and Bright Eyes.

The John Peel Stage will see DJ Shadow (Friday), Glasvegas (Saturday) and The Streets (Sunday) headline. Other acts playing the stage named in honour of the legendary Radio 1 DJ include The Coral, Battles, Robyn, Noah and the Whale and Warpaint.

The huge festival has been running on and off since 1970, and this year is sure to live up to expectations. With a line-up nothing short of world-class, revellers and viewers at home will see some spectacular performances on stages big and small.

The Horrors’ frontman Faris Badwan makes his festival debut with his new band Cat’s Eyes at Latitude Festival.

Cat’s Eyes is the creation of Faris Badwan from The Horrors and Canadian opera singer Rachel Zeffira. The duo released their debut album in April and will play their first festival at Latitude in July.

Cat’s Eyes are new additions along with James Blake and Alabama 3. They join headliners Suede, The National and Paolo Nutini.

Following from his 2006 breakthrough These Streets, and the hit 2009 album Sunny Side Up, Nutini has revealed that all tracks have been recorded and just need to be put them in the right order, saying, “it can’t be too long now.” He describes the upcoming record as having “a bigger sort of sound” to his previous albums, and hopes the album will allow for longer festival sets. The Scot has just wowed crowds with a headline slot at Rockness on Sunday night, including smash hits Jenny Don’t Be Hasty and New Shoes.

Nutini will play Glastonbury and Latitude festivals this summer. Latitude Festival tickets are on sale now, with Nutini playing on the Saturday.

Sunny Side Up has sold over two million copies and was the biggest selling record by a male artist in 2009, as well as one of the biggest sellers of 2010.

The Scottish crooner will also headline the second night of Suffolk’s Latitude Festival.

The National, Paolo Nutini and Suede will headline the festival which will also include Foals, Bright Eyes, comedian Dave Gorman and a Q&A with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon.

The sixth edition of the festival will once again take place at Henham Park, near Southwold from July 14-17, and will feature a mix of music and arts performers.

A fourth headline act, who has not been confirmed, will perform on the main stage at midday on the final day of the festival. Radiohead’s Thom Yorke has previously performed in the slot, with revellers leaving their tent earlier that usual to catch his acoustic set of Radiohead and solo numbers.

The movie stars Russell Brand and is a remake of the 1980′s film of the same name which starred Dudley Moore.

Ronson has been in demand recently, having also been asked to work with Culture Club. Ronson has already appeared with Boy George on his song ‘Somebody to Love Me.’

It has recently been announced that Ronson will appear at this year’s RockNess Festival, in addition to headliners The Chemical Brothers, Kasabian and Paolo Nutini.

The festival will take place on the banks of the famous Loch Ness near Inverness over the weekend of June 10th-12th.

Glasvegas, Mark Ronson and The Cribs  have joined the line-up for the festival in Scotland. Other new additions to the bill include The Wombats, Two Door Cinema Club, Magnetic, We Are Scientists and DJ Shadow.

Jamiroquai will kick off the shows at HMV Forum in Kentish Town, London on 20th October, followed by Chase & Status on the 21st October. Paolo Nutini will perform at the same venue on 22nd October, as will Mark Ronson on the 23rd October. The shows will be concluded with a performance from Neill Finn at London’s Jazz Café on 24th October.

In 2010 the Guinness brewing company reaches that most important of milestones: it turns 251 years old.

The Eden Sessions are a unique opportunity for music fans to see their favourite acts perform in the splendid setting of the biomes of the Eden Project – one of which is the largest greenhouse in the world. Franz Ferdinand will join other bands including Snow Patrol (July 5), Oasis (July 21) and Kasabian (July 22), who will also perform at the 2009 iTunes Live music festival. Flo Rida (July 4), Paolo Nutini (July 10) and The Saturdays (July 27) are also on this year’s iTunes Live line-up.

A number of this year’s iTunes live performers are also on tour in the UK this year.

It has been reported that Paolo Nutini has been eyeing up fellow Scottish artists for a star-studded collaboration. He revealed he would like to work with James Allan, frontman of the group Glasvegas, and has already spoken to Franz Ferdinand where they have a studio together in Glasgow.

Paolo Nutini said he has already made a pact with Kyle Falconer, lead singer of The View to record a mini album together, and it seems the desire to work with more successful Scottish artists is set to continue.

However, Paolo Nutini is also a fan of London-based group The Noisettes by saying he would not mind working with their lead singer Shingai Shoniwa.

The Noisettes are also about to start their UK tour for the album Wild Young Hearts, playing venues like the Manchester Ritz Ballroom (October 20), Birmingham O2 Academy (October 23) and the London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire (October 26 & 27).

Kasabian topped this week’s official UK albums chart with their latest release, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum.

Kasabian beat off competition from Little Boots, Bruce Springsteen and Placebo, who also released albums this week.

Just behind at number two was last week’s number one album Sunny Side Up by Paolo Nutini.

Little Boots will be pleased to see her debut album, Hands, reach the number five spot in this week’s album chart.

In at number seven was the Greatest Hits release by Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. One place behind was Battle for the Sun by Placebo, their sixth studio album.

These artists and bands are also preparing for their performances and tours at various venues around the UK.

Little Boots will be appearing at various festivals this summer such as the Latitude Festival at the Southwold Henham Park (July 16-19), Field Day at London Victoria Park (August 1), Reading & Leeds Festival at Leeds Bramham Park and Reading Richfield Avenue (August 28-30), and the Bestival 2009 at the Newport Robin Hill Adventure Park (September 11-13).

The Kasabian tour has already kicked off and will be making stops at Nottingham Rock City (June 24), Sheffield O2 Academy (June 29) as well as two dates at the London Brixton O2 Academy (July 16 & 17) and the Wolverhampton Civic Hall (August 24 & 25).

The Paolo Nutini tour begins at the Blackpool Empress Ballroom (September 27) before stopping off at the London HMV Apollo (September 30), Manchester Apollo (October 5) as well as two dates in his home town at the Glasgow O2 Academy (October 14 & 15).

Bruce Springsteen will headline Hard Rock Calling at London Hyde Park, taking place from June 26-28. Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will also perform at the Glasgow Hampden Park on July 14.

The Placebo tour kicks off at the Birmingham LG Arena (December 8 ) before stopping off at the London O2 Arena (December 9), Manchester Central (December 12) and the Glasgow SECC & Clyde Auditorium (December 14).

The iTunes Festival, celebrating its 3rd anniversary, will take place at the London Roundhouse in July and  six acts have already been confirmed.

The six acts are Flo Rida (July 4), Snow Patrol (July 5), Paolo Nutini (July 10), Oasis (July 21), Kasabian (July 22) and The Saturdays (July 27). More acts are expected to be announced soon.

The six acts have got a busy summer period ahead of them as they are all set to perform at other summer festivals and gigs.

Flo Rida will perform songs from album R.O.O.T.S at the O2 Wireless Festival at London Hyde Park (July 4-5) and the Flo Rida tour also kicks off soon after with shows at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire (July 12), Manchester Apollo (July 14) and the Glasgow O2 Academy (July 15).

Snow Patrol will be at T In The Park festival at the Kinross Balado Airfield (July 10-12) and the V Festival at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Shifnal (August 22-23).

Paolo Nutini, whose new album Sunny Side Up is out on June 1, will also be performing at T In The Park festival and V Festival, but will first be at the Isle of Wight Festival at the Newport Seaclose Park (June 12-14).

Kasabian, whose new album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum is out on June 8, will be the support act for the upcoming Oasis tour which kicks off with three dates at the Manchester Heaton Park (June 4, 6 & 7) and ends with three dates at the London Wembley Stadium (July 9, 11 & 12).

The Saturdays tour, featuring songs from debut album Chasing Lights, features concerts across the UK throughout June and early July, including a show at London HMV Apollo (June 24).

The Saturdays will also be at the Capital FM Summertime Ball at the London Emirates Stadium (June 7) and T4 On The Beach at the Weston Super Mare Beach (July 19).

The hugely popular event which is set to take place between 12 & 14 at Seaclose Park will now also include appearances from The Rifles, The Zombies and Paolo Nutini as well as The Australian Pink Floyd Show and Ultravox who will also perform at the festival.

The Pixies will be kicking off the festival with a rare appearance having only performed intermittently since their 2005 headline shows at Reading and Leeds festivals. Meanwhile Neil Young will bring the festival to a close on the Sunday (June 14). Tickets for the 2009 Isle of Wight Festival are still available from £160.

Other acts including The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx, Stereophonics and Razorlight are among the band’s performing at this year’s Isle Of Wight Festival.

As well as having confirmed an appearance at this years Isle of Wight festival and two other live dates in the UK, Neil Young will perform at the Nottingham Trent FM Arena on June 23 Aberdeen Exhibition Centre the following day (June 24), London’s Had Rock Calling (June 27) and Glastonbury Festival (June 28). Tickets for the V Festival’s Chelmsford site have sold out in less than two hours this morning according to the events organisers.

Meanwhile the final few tickets available for the Weston Park site of the two site two day festival are quickly diminishing after they went on sale at 10am this morning (March 6).

It has been confirmed that Oasis and The Killers will headline this years V Festival, which will take place across two sites, one in Chelmsford and one in Staffordshire on August 22 and August 23.
