Richard Ashcroft, Gomez and Ray Davies added to Hop Farm 2012 line-up

It has been confirmed that Richard Ashcroft, Ray Davies and Gomez are to join the line-up for this year’s Hop Farm Festival.

The festival, which will be headlined by Bob Dylan, Suede and Peter Gabriel, takes place in Paddock Wood in Kent from June 29 – July 1. It is believed to be Ashcroft’s only UK appearance of the year.

Also joining the line-up are Kool And The Gang, The Futureheads, Gary Numan, Bellowhead, British Sea Power, King Charles, Howling Bells, Peter Hook and the Light, Gruff Rhys and a host of others.

The festival, which takes place between 29th June – 1st July in Kent, has also announced a new Powers Bar Stage and the first comedians confirmed for the Comedy Stage. The Buskers Boulevard will also feature a vast array of acts ranging from a banjo player to a bag piper.

The story of Bon Iver is one of the surprises of the last few years. Writing and recording a love struck album in a secluded cabin in the American wilderness he has now achieved great amounts of fame and success across the world. Indeed his popularity in the UK has skyrocketed in the last few months.

Now he has released a cover of Peter Gabriel’s Come Talk to Me, which is a beautiful piece of acoustic music that will appear on the B side of his forthcoming album.

Peter Gabriel confirms two London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire shows

Peter Gabriel hass announced details of two live shows, set to take place in London in March 2011. The former Genesis man will perform at O2 Shepherds Bush Empire on the 23rd and 24th March.

The gig announcement comes after the star’s huge O2 Arena show in 2010, and the release of studio album, Scratch My Back. Gabriel is best-known known as the lead singer of cult progressive rock band Genesis, but has forged a successful solo career since leaving the band.

Peter Gabriel tickets will go on general sale on Monday 24th January, although a limited number of Peter Gabriel presale tickets are on sale now.

Peter Gabriel announces cover album details

Peter Gabriel has announced details of the first pair of his song swaps he is planning to release, to be taken from his upcoming covers album, ‘Scratch My Back.’ Due out on January 25 via iTunes, his first cover will be of ‘The Book Of Love’ by The Magnetic Fields. The album will also feature covers of Radiohead’s ‘Street Spirit (Fade Out)’, Regina Spektor’s ‘Apres Moi’ and Elbow’s ‘Mirrorball.’

Meanwhile Peter Gabriel is set to play two shows at London’s O2 Arena. After his European tour, Peter Gabriel will be performing at the award-winning venue on March 27th and 28th. Tickets for these gigs are in high demand but Tixdaq can confirm that hundreds are still available for both dates.

Leona Lewis to duet with Rhydian?

It has been reported that the former X Factor finalist, Rhydian Roberts, wants to duet with 2006 X Factor winner, Leona Lewis. It is rumoured that Rhydian has become good friends with Leona Lewis’ boyfriend and would like to perform a cover version of ‘Don’t Give Up’ which was originally performed by Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel.

Rhydian has complemented Leona Lewis’ voice and told the Daily Star that he thinks she is “phenomenal”. Rhydian also told the paper that he is very fussy about who he works with, but thinks he and Leona Lewis could be a great match.

Rhydian may have to wait to record the duet until Leona Lewis has completed her 2010 tour. Leona Lewis’ tour begins in Sheffield Hallam FM Arena on May 28. Leona Lewis is set to perform live at a number of top venues across the UK including MEN Arena, London O2 Arena, Glasgow SECC and the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle.

The Leona Lewis tour will now draw to a close with two shows at the Cardiff International Arena on July 5 & 6.

Peter Gabriel to play ‘concept’ concert

Peter Gabriel has announced details of a one-off show that he will be performing in 2010.

The former Genesis frontman has had an experimental career since launch a solo career in the late 1970s and this show will be no different.

The date – at the London O2 Arena on March 27th – is beingmarketied as a concept show that will feature no guitars or drums and will rely on solely on an orchestra to provide the musical accompaniment.
