Police have reported that 48 year old Peter Stead, who is supposed to bear a resemblance to the champion UK comic, pretended to be Peter Kay’s brother in order extort money from several pubs. It has also been revealed that Stead, who is a stand-up comedian himself, is on the UK’s top 10 list of fraudsters. Stead has now been jailed for 15 months for crimes of deception.

The news comes in the build up to Peter Kay’s 2011 stadium shows which kicks off at Manchester’s MEN Arena on September 27th and will go on to play the venue until October 21st.

The much-loved comedian will perform ten nights at the Manchester MEN Arena from September 27th. They will be the final shows of his incredible tour, which began over a year ago in April 2010. Despite its length, the tour remains shrewd, witty, surprising and most importantly, hilarious.

The world-famous boyband sung to crowds in the sold-out Hampden Park in torrential rain, with Robbie Williams describing the show as “a battle” due to the weather. ‘The Tour That Doesn’t Tour – Tour’ is still touring a year after it started and it’s still a gem.

When the tour kicked off last April (2010) it welcomed Kay back after 7 years, since his previous tour ” Mum wants a bungalow”. After such high demand dates were added, more and more and more until a year on and it’s still going!

Is it still good? In short YES. Tears will roll down your face and you will loose control of you bladder. He is an extremely funny man and a great performer. BUT, don’t attend the new tour looking for a new comedian. Peter Kay is like comfort food, the same stodgy recipe loving used on a new topic.  For example familiar Nan pops up, mispronouncing and getting confused over  “Avatar” and “abattoir” or iPod and “thigh-pod”.

His shrewd reflections on the advancing world, wrapped up in his wide-eyed northernness are extraordinarily funny. So although plodding on with his tour a year later he and his material are still highly amusing.

The final line-up for the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship that takes place from December 18th to January 3rd in Alexandra Palace in London has finally been decided.

72 players from all around the world will compete for £1m in prize money – the richest event in the history of darts – and a first prize of £200,000.
